1.Eliminate gluten from your diet! Did  you know that one in three patient’s with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis are sensitive to gluten?
2.Selenium is very important to a healthy thyroid and  those of us with a autoimmune thyroiditis or Hashimoto’s we can start eating 2-3 organic brazil nuts daily which will give us 200mcg of selenium.
3.Start eating wild caught fish, like salmon. This will give you a good dose of  omega-3 fatty acids which are very important for optimal thyroid function. if your not a fish eater  or just don’t eat it often enough ,  you can supplement with a high quality Omega3 supplement, like BLUE ICE Fermented Cod Liver Oil -Non-Gelatin Capsules.
4.Don’t be afraid of the sun! Get outside and enjoy the  sunlight to optimize your vitamin D levels and take 1000-2000IU daily of Vitamin D3, like Garden of Life Vitamin Code Raw D3 5000 60 Capsules .
5.Herbs are excellent in supporting your  thyroid function which include ORGANIC INDIA Ashwagandha Herbal Supplement Veg Capsules, Healthy Stress Response (90 Capsules) , Now Foods Eleuthero 500mg, 100 Vcaps and other adrenal adaptogens. One of my favorite formulas is Gaia Herbs Thyroid Support Liquid Phyto-Capsules, 120 Count .
6. Goitrogens in moderation is a good source of your essential vitamin A. For Example: Dandelion greens, carrots, spinach, kale, Swiss chard, collard greens, and sweet potatoes. Try to sauté, cooked or steamed them. When you use them in large quantities raw like juices or smoothies then that become a issue.  Don’t avoid them entirely the cancer fighting properties are awesome.
7.Coconut oil is so wonderful for  you thyroid health  — it’s great for high heat cooking and sautéing many different meats and vegetables. Coconut oil is high in natural saturated fats. Saturated fats not only increase the healthy cholesterol (known as HDL) in your body, but also help to convert the LDL “bad” cholesterol into good cholesterols. By Increasing the HDL’s in the body, it helps promote heart health, and lower the risk of heart disease. Keep in mind not all coconut oil is created equal .  I would recommend   Purelife tropics.  PurelifeTropics Raw Organic Virgin coconut oil 16.9oz Non GMO and bottled from fresh coconuts
8.Filter your drinking water can be one of the smartest things you start doing for your thyroid. Chemicals like chlorine, fluoride  and other harmful chemicals which suppress the thyroid and block iodine.  I have a Berkey water system.  The Big Berkey system removes pathogenic bacteria, cysts and parasites entirely and extracts harmful chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, VOCs, organic solvents, radon 222 and trihalomethanes. It also reduces nitrates, nitrites and unhealthy minerals such as lead and mercury. This system is so powerful it can remove food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. Virtually no other system can duplicate this performance.  Big Berkey BK4X2 Countertop Water Filter System with 2 Black Berkey Elements and 2 Fluoride Filters
9. If you are a smoothie drinker start adding chlorella, parsley, or cilantro to your daily smoothie to help your body detoxify from chemical exposures (petrochemicals, PCBs, pesticides, and mercury). You can also find other ways to detox, like using a sauna, taking Epsom salt baths.
10.Stress will kill your thyroid try to work on lowering your stress levels through daily gratitude, prayer, meditation, yoga and deep breathing!
11. You must start making that gut happy. Many people have leaky guts and don’t even know what horrible damage it does to our bodies. By taking a daily probiotic it will not only start to heal your gut but you will start feeling better. I would recommend Garden of Life Whole Food Probiotic for Women – Raw Probiotics Women Dietary .
12. Do you take a daily multivitamin? Not everyone can get all their needed nutrition. if  you a busy on the go person like I am a daily vitamin is a must have. I recommend Garden of Life mykind Organics Women’s 40+ Multi 120 Tablets .
13. Always consult with your healthcare practitioner before using supplements!
