Getting the Most Out of Your Homemade Body Wraps

Let’s be realistic here. If you want to see the results that  you desire you must also do a few things listed below to help you get to your goal. You can’t wrap your body and continue following the same old routine that might of given you that unsightly blemish that you want to get rid of. Here are a  few body wrap suggestions to help you get that  bulge-free body you desire.

1. 100% Organic Ingredients

If you want to see inches come off then you must use 100% organic ingredients only or else your wasting your time and these cellulite-busting, fat-fighting, skin-glowing, detoxifying recipes wont do you any good.

2. Commercial Brand Body Wrap Kits

Don’t be tempted by these  premade kits that tend to have harsh hormone changing synthetic chemicals and are made in a lab when you can use these all natural healthy-safe ingredients and get more bang for you buck.

3. Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate

Dry brushing before you wrap not only Stimulates Your Lymphatic System, it Exfoliates,  Increases Circulation, Reduces Cellulite, reduces Stress, reduces water retention and Improve Digestion and Kidney Function along with being Invigorating. You may even become “addicted” to dry skin brushing because it simply feels so fantastic. Along with glowing and tightening the skin.

“The lymphatic system is responsible for collecting, transporting to the blood, and eliminating the waste our cells produce,”  “If the lymphatic system is congested, it can lead to a build-up of toxins, causing inflammation and illness. Dry brushing stimulates the lymphatic system as it stimulates and invigorates the skin.”

After you exfoliate you take quick steamy hot shower and scrub and buff at that dead, dry, flaky skin to reveal silky soft smoothness. Allow the steam to help open your pores so that your high-quality, organic ingredient body wrap sinks in to the deepest layers of your skin.

How do dry brush? Start at your feet and brush upward towards the heart. Use firm, small strokes upwards, or work in a circular motion. For the stomach, work in a counterclockwise pattern. Harsh exfoliation is never the point; be sure not to press too hard, or use too-stiff of a brush. “Any kind of brushing or exfoliation should be gentle and should never break the skin.”

4. Fight Fat with Water

Drinking water makes your skin glow and is important for overall good health because water aids in digestion, circulation, absorption and even excretion. … And skin cells, like any other cell in the body, are made up of water. Without water, the organs will certainly not function properly or at their best also staying properly hydrated will help shrink your fat cells and remove fat from them.

5. Exercise

Exercise is one of the most important parts of keeping your body at a healthy weight. Your job isnt done once you take off that wrap.  Exercise will help you in a battle to shed extra weight if you need to and it lowers the risk of some diseases even if you dont need to lose any weight.

6. Keep at it

if you want this to work , don’t try a few sessions, get bored and quit. You should maintain a consistent body wrapping routine and stick to it for permanent results.

7. Be Realistic

Have fun with this. Life is to short to stress and remember that it’s a slow and gradual process. So, don’t expect overnight results.

8. Use PVC free plastic wrap

The dangers of wrapping your stomach in plastic don’t just stop there. Cling wrap used for wrapping the stomach is made from Polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which has been described as one of the most dangerous consumer products. It leaches harmful substances which have been linked to negative effects on the liver, spleen, kidneys, bone formation and body weight. PVC is also linked to cancer. Some wraps are dipped in mineral products, some of which may contain aluminum, which is linked to Alzheimer’s. In addition, you may be allergic to some of the ingredients used in the wrap. ( This is the wrap I use, order yours here)

9. Use Spa Slender Body Wraps

I really like the velcro on the ends. No more holding one side and completing a wrap to hold the end in place only to have it pop off. These hold securely and make getting started effortless. If anything, it holds too well. These body wraps are latex free, 6 Inches wide x 15 Feet long (15 feet when stretched),Velcro Closure on Both Ends No Metal Clips, Latex Free, Durable and most important they are  Washable and Reusable.  ( order yours here)

Tips

  • Soak every two days in a 1 cup Epsom salt, 1 cup baking soda and 1 cup bentonite clay tub to help flush out the accumulated toxins.
  • Drink plenty of water before and after using the body wrap to help flush out the toxins from your body. Keep a glass of water handy while you’re using the wrap in case you need to hydrate.
  • Make sure the room you’re in while using the wrap is warm. This will prevent the wrap from losing heat too fast, and it will help you to remain warm.
  • Use twice wrap once a week for about six weeks, then once a month thereafter for maintenance.
  • Use  wrapping cloths specifically designed for use with body wraps or PVC free plastic wrap.
  • Wrapping your body can be tricky. If you feel comfortable, ask for the help of a friend when it’s time to wrap.

 #1. Cellulite

The Cellulite Body wrap

Seaweed and clay both act as powerful ingredients in battling cellulite, shifting inches and rejuvenating your body. Here’s how you create one of the most effective wraps for cellulite:

What You Need:
  • 1 cup Seaweed Powder
  • 3 tablespoons Almond Oil or Olive Oil or any oil you like
  • 2 cups warm water (or coffee for an extra cellulite-busting kick)
  • 2 drops essential oil (Rosemary, juniper, or fennel)
Method:

Mix all the bodywrap ingredients to form a mud-like consistency. Stand in your tub or on newspapers or a large towel to avoid a mess. Start by smearing the paste all over your lower half body.

Now you have two options:

Both methods work well. Choose what works for you and go with it. Wrap yourself in a blanket and relax for one hour. Remove all seaweed with a warm shower.

 #2 – Weight Loss

The Skin-Tight Jeans Bodywrap

What You Need:
Method:

Mix all ingredients to form a paste. Do not use a metal bowl as it might react to the clay and draw traces of the metal. Follow the directions of the bodywrap described above and do ensure that you take a good shower to remove all traces.

 #3. – Detoxification

The Epsom Salts Detox Body wrap

What You Need:
Method:

Mix the boiled water that has been cooled to a warm temperature with the salt. Soak an old sheet in the solution. Massage the oil on your body. Wrap yourself in the warm sheet, followed by a plastic to keep it all nicely packed for proper sweating. Spread a blanket and lie on it for an hour to naturally sweat it out.

 #4. – Detoxification

The Apple Cider Detox Body wrap

What You Need:
Method:

Mix all ingredients to form a paste. Do not use a metal bowl as it might react to the clay and draw traces of the metal. Follow the directions of the bodywrap described above and do ensure that you take a good shower to remove all traces.

 #5. – Circulation

The Ginger Clay Bodywrap

What You Need:
Method:

Mix up everything by hand or in a blender to form a paste. Smear the paste on the body parts where you want to boost circulation and wrap up with plastic. Rinse off with warm water after 20-40 minutes max. and finish off with a cold rinse.

#6. – Muscle Pain

The Caliente Bodywrap

What You Need:
Method:

Make a thick paste of all the ingredients and warm it in the microwave for a few seconds. Apply on the area where it hurts the most and let it sit for 10-12 minutes. Wrap with plastic for more heat and sweat but be careful as the cayenne powder might burn your skin. Shower with warm water.

#7. – Rejuvenating Skin

The Olive Oil Beauty Detox Body wrap

What You Need:
Method:

Mix up all the oils and pour into a spray or squirt bottle. Spray all over your skin and wrap up in plastic and bandages for a smooth, snug fit. Stay in a warm area for one hour and shower it off with warm water.

Hypothyroidism Burgers 3 Mouth Watering Ways

best-summer-grilling-recipes-chipotle-turkey-burgers-with-guacamole

Now that your starting to be curious and eat to cater to your thyroid. Don’t feel you have to totally give up on foods you love. Cooking actually isn’t very hard. You can put together some simple meals very easily — often in less time than it takes to get take-out food, and definitely in less time than it takes to go out to eat. If you learn to cook yourself, you can have control of the ingredients, and once you get the hang of it, it often tastes a lot better, too!

Healthy food doesn’t have to be boring!

It is definitely a struggle to switch your eating habits, and takes time to find new ways to spice up healthy foods-but it’s not impossible. There are so many foods out there that can kick your craving for the ‘unhealthy’ foods.

Processed foods and sugar influence our taste buds and when you stop eating those things on a regular basis, other foods actually start to taste better.

Be creative and experiment!

Recipe

Herb Burgers Italian Spice Burgers Onion & Garlic Burgers
1 lb. ground beef or bison or ground turkey 1 lb. ground beef or bison or ground turkey 1 lb. ground beef or bison or ground turkey
1/2 tsp. sea salt 1/2 tsp. sea salt 1/2 tsp. sea salt
1/2 tsp. dried rosemary 1/2 tsp. dried oregano 1/4 cup finely diced fresh onion
1/2 tsp. dried sage 1/2 tsp. dried minced garlic 1/2 Tbsp. minced fresh garlic
1/2 tsp. dried thyme 1/4 tsp. dried basil

Directions

  1. If you have a kitchen-aid mixer, you can use it at low speed, to blend the spices into the meat. Otherwise, put all of the ingredients in a large bowl and blend with your hands.
  2. Shape into 3 or 4 patties, depending on how big you like your burgers. (This recipe also doubles very easily.) If you have time to let them sit for 30 minutes before cooking, they’ll be even more flavorful.
  3. You can cook these in a skillet over medium heat (5-8 minutes per side), or on a gas grill over medium heat (3-5 minutes per side). If you cook them on the grill, just be sure to preheat your grill, and poke a small hole in the center of each patty to ensure  they cook evenly (no raw centers). You’ll notice I did that in the top photo.
  4. You can also freeze the patties, to cook later.

Extra Flavor Options:

  • You can also top your burgers with lots of flavorful condiments! Everything from ketchup, red onion, tomato to guacamole to BBQ sauce.

Warning to New Thyroid Patients

Having hypothyroidism can be utterly devastating at times. Hypothyroidism is the kind of disease that carries a bit of mystery with it. Hypothyroidism means your thyroid is not making enough thyroid hormone. Your thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland in the front of your throat. It makes the hormones that control the way your body uses energy. Basically, our thyroid hormone tells all the cells in our bodies how busy they should be. Our bodies will go into overdrive with too much thyroid hormone (hyperthyroidism) and our bodies slow down with too little thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism). Around 20 million Americans and 250 million people worldwide will be affected by low thyroid function or hypothyroidism. One in 8 women will struggle with a thyroid problem in her lifetime, and up to 90% of all thyroid problems are autoimmune in nature.

As diseases go, you would think that it would be a cinch to diagnose and pretty straightforward to treat. Each of us are unique individuals with different sensitivities. None of  has the same exact routine as far as what foods we eat, what chemicals we are exposed to and what medications we take but yet we all are similar when it comes to our thyroids not working properly. Why is that?

There is only one major disease and that is malnutrition. All Ailments and afflictions to which we may fall heir are directly traceable to this major disease.” –D.W. Cavanaugh, M.D., Cornell University

Environmental chemicals and toxins, pesticides, BPA, thyroid endocrine disruptors, iodine imbalance, other medications, fluoride, overuse of soy products, cigarette smoking, and gluten intolerance. All of these play a very important role in your thyroid health. A nonprofit group called Beyond Pesticides warns that some 60 percent of pesticides used today have been shown to affect the thyroid gland’s production of T3 and T4 hormones. Commercially available insecticides and fungicides have also been involved. Even dental x-rays have been linked to an increased risk of thyroid disorders.

As consumers we put our trust in the research and development of scientific studies, The FDA and  The CDC. let’s not  be so easily mislead. Drug store chains have quota’s to meet and even some of our Doctors get yearly bonus’s. Little do we do that behind closed doors corporations often pay scientists and these companies to  support their product for profit.  Some Politicians seem to have a revolving door between the private and public sector.  The synthetic chemicals we face everyday that is in our food, our water, and  the air that we breathe .

Most doctors will prescribe you  a synthetic version of thyroid hormone called Synthroid (levothyroxine). First introduced in 1959, Synthroid is the third most frequently prescribed drugs in the United States. For the sixty years prior to Synthroid, the standard treatment was a desiccated (dried) concentrate of pig thyroid, which remains popular today, although not nearly as popular as its successor per  Robert Rountree, M.D., who is a physician in private practice and an Herb Research Foundation advisory board member.

How were you diagnosed? Did  your doctor just perform a simple TSH test and it showed that you had an elevated presence of  thyroid stimulating hormone in your blood?

TSH is made in the pituitary, a small gland near the center of the brain. When the thyroid gland doesn’t make enough T4, the pituitary increases its production of TSH in an attempt to make the gland work harder. In other words, thyroid hormone production is regulated by a simple negative feedback loop. When a diseased gland fails to make enough T4, the quick and easy solution is to replace it with a synthetic version. per Robert Rountree, M.D., who is a physician in private practice and an Herb Research Foundation advisory board member.

Hold on. Don’t be so quick to start taking that  synthetic version of T4 only medication. Synthetics like thyroxine will eventually destroy the thyroid where you will have to be on some form of thyroid medication for the rest of your life. Also, everything that glitters isn’t gold. There isn’t a one side fits all solution to hypothyroidsm. This is  why you have to work with your doctor. Requests a full thyroid panel which should at least include these 6 key thyroid labs that are listed below.  Some of us, like myself need T3 along with our T4 medication because our T4 isn’t converting into a must needed hormone called T3. This is why most people have partial improvements. Also,  the conversion to T3 is affected by nutritional deficiencies such as low selenium, inadequate omega-3 fatty acids, low zinc, chemicals from the environment, or by stress. is your head spinning yet with all this information!

A full thyroid panel for hypothyroidism should at least include these 6 key thyroid lab tests:
TSH
Free T4
Free T3
Reverse T3
Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies
Thyroglobulin Antibodies
My message to you is  upon waking up check your basal temperature. If you are below 97.5 then probably have hypothyroidism.

Are you starting to see my point?

The root cause of nearly all diseases can be linked to  an overload of toxins and chemicals accumulating inside your body.  Most people ignore the toxic overload that is taking a toll on their bodies. Western medicine teaches us that almost all illnesses are caused by germs or genetics. So the money making solution is to slap a name on it. Label each disease (over 10,000 of them) and then have us believe that each one can be remedied by surgery or drugs.

Think about it  this– fish can’t live in toxic water, no matter how fancy the food is that you’re feeding them.

Neither can our bodies thrive if they are toxic.

5 Things you need to working on.

#1: Immune System

#2: Digestive System

#3: Inflammation

#4:  Stress

#5:  Start Being Aware

” I don’t know where to start.”

I know, there is so much information overload that most people are confused as to where to start.  You can start by taking ownership of your health. I wanted you to understand or get a idea of how everything has a part to play in your body. I am on a  path to help you, lead you and inform you through this terrible illness. Being diagnosed with hypothyroidism isn’t just here take this pill and it will fix your issues. Hypothyroidism has a root cause. Once you start addressing the root of your problems then your body can start healing itself. Your body is an awesome design but there is a complex balance between everything. It’s a domino affect. If you have something in your body that is overworked  it will cause a major shift in your body. Don’t worry the good news is it can be healed.

3 Primary Factors Leading to Underactive Thyroid

1.Your Diet- avoid Gluten, Soy and start adding foods rich in iodine.

 2.Stress-

Stress is one of the worst thyroid offenders, as your thyroid function is intimately tied to your adrenal function, which in turn is intimately affected by how you handle stress.

Many of us are under chronic stress, which results in increased adrenalin and cortisol levels, and elevated cortisol has a negative impact on thyroid function. Thyroid hormone levels drop during stress, while you actually need more thyroid hormones during stressful times.

When stress becomes chronic, the flood of stress chemicals (adrenalin and cortisol) produced by your adrenal glands interferes with thyroid hormones and can contribute to obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, unstable blood sugar, and more. A prolonged stress response can lead to adrenal exhaustion (also known as adrenal fatigue), which is often found alongside thyroid disease

3.Environmental Chemicals-Your thyroid hormones are very vulnerable to chemicals in the environment.

How to use Bentonite Clay

Bentonite clay is very sensitive to metal. Don’t allow it to come into contact with it or it will lose its healing properties.  I will mix my clay with water in a glass jar with a plastic lid either by shaking well or using a plastic whisk. If you take it internally, do not take within an hour of food for best results and do not take within 2 hours of medications or supplements as it might reduce the effectiveness. Check with your doctor before using if you have any medical condition.

Mix 2-3 tablespoons of clay powder with an equal amount of filtered water or apple cider vinegar. Apply the clay mixture to your moistened hair, leave it on for five minutes and then rinse thoroughly.  You can also rinse out the clay hair mask with an apple cider vinegar rinse to help avoid drying.

Combine Bentonite Clay and equal parts Apple Cider Vinegar( and/ or ) Aloe Vera Juice, and a few drops of essential oils of your choice ( I like to add lavender, sweet orange, and rosemary). Mix to the consistency of batter

2. Blemish reducing facial mask

Bentonite clay tightens and tones the skin, and its absorbing properties can draw out impurities from deep within. To make a facial mask, mix 2-3 tablespoons of clay powder with equal amounts water or apple cider vinegar or witch hazel.

Evenly apply the thick layer to the face, and allow it to dry for about 10-15 minutes. It will  feel tight and slightly tingly. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. For best results, use once or twice a week.

Similar to masks used at the spa, a clay mask made from Bentonite draws excess oils and debris to the surface of your skin, boosts circulation to tighten the skin and stimulate blood flow, and whisks away dead skin cells that can clog pores. Mix Bentonite Clay with water to make a paste, apply to the face, and allow to dry for 20 minutes. Wash off gently and pat dry. If any spots of clay are left on your skin after rinsing, rub gently with a wash cloth.

DIY Natural Deodorant Solid Recipe

  • Shea butter is derived from the nuts of the shea tree, grown in Africa. It’s incredibly moisturizing and can help to protect skin from dryness.
  • Baking soda helps to absorb moisture and odors naturally.
  • Beeswax is moisturizing and helps to keep this natural deodorant in a solid form that makes it easy to travel.
  • Arrowroot powder is made from the roots of the arrowroot plant, which is native to South America. It helps to keep skin dry and wick away moisture.
  • Bentonite clay helps to absorb moisture from your underarms and eliminate body odor without causing irritation. Learn more about the health uses for bentonite clay.

  2. Remove from heat, then add baking soda, bentonite clay, arrowroot powder, and essential oils. Mix well.
  3. Pour liquid mixture into a silicone muffin mold or a 5 oz. container, such an empty deodorant container.
  4. Let cool down to solidify for about 2-3 hours. The beeswax will help to keep it in solid form to use as a traditional deodorant.
  5. If using a silicone mold, pop out the DIY natural deodorant solids and store in a reusable container or bag to use at home or on the go.

Makes about 3 deodorant bars.

5. Remineralize your teeth

Did you know that your teeth are living and spongy. The foods we eat, the commercial toothpastes, medications and chemicals from drinks all can suck out the minerals from the teeth causing weakened enamel  and leaving us more susceptible to decay and breakdown. I was on a new mission to keep my teeth healthy by using the absolute necessary  and needed trace minerals to maintain the upmost dental health plus find a solution that wasn’t abrasive,  while gently polishing them , and detoxifies while it refreshes. Is there such a thing? I did know that my long history with Mr. Store bought toothpaste were over. Bentonite clay does its work drawing toxins out of the mouth, it leaves behind minerals that are nourishing for the teeth. Try my  homemade toothpaste.

Antimicrobial Clay Balm

I got the recipe here

The detoxification properties speaks for themselves and studies are now confirming the wisdom in this powerful clay. its use. It has been shown to be effective against candida – the primary cause of yeast rashes – as well as a variety of bacteria, including MRSA. (Source)  Plain Bentonite Clay makes a very soothing baby powder for use when there is infection or redness. It can also be made into a clay “mask” to help speed recovery in this area.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shea butter (I prefer to use raw organic shea because conventional shea may be extracted with harsh solvents such as hexane.
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil (Extra virgin has demonstrated the strongest antimicrobial properties, but expeller-pressed will work fine as well.
  • 1/4 cup bentonite clay
  • 7 drops lavender essential oil, optional. Can substitute tea tree if yeast/bacteria is suspected.*
  • 7 drops chamomile essential oil, optional. Can substitute tea tree if yeast/bacteria is suspected.

To Make

1. In a double boiler, gently melt shea butter over low heat. When almost melted, stir in coconut oil and continue to heat until fully melted.

2. Remove from heat and allow mixture to return to a semi-solid state. Place mixture in fridge if you’d like to speed this process up. Add non-nano zinc or bentonite clay and optional essential oils (if desired). Mix thoroughly.

Baby Powder

Note for cloth diapering mamas: This powder is compatible with cloth dipes.

Ingredients

  •  1⁄2 cup bentonite clay powder
  • 2 tablespoons arrowroot powder, optional. Makes the texture more fine.

* Like cornstarch, arrowroot powder is a starch and can help feed yeast. Since it’s not the primary ingredient in this recipe I don’t know that it would cause a problem for yeast-based rashes, but if you suspect yeast you may want to omit it.

How To Use

Powder lightly at every diaper change when a rash is active.

*Special Notes

Powders of any kind are not recommended for children under three months because they can inhale particles into their very sensitive lungs. Use only in older babies.

11. Internal cleansing for pets

Image result for bentonite clay pets

For pets that are sick, vomiting or showing signs of illness, you can add Bentonite to their water or mix and give orally with a dropper or syringe without the needle. I have seen several cases where this helped pets recover quickly from what could otherwise have been serious illnesses. Please google for the correct dosage per weight of the dog and always check with your veterinarian before changing your dogs diet.

12. Ph Balancing

Image result for bentonite clay ph balancing

Bentonite Clay Powder so indispensable is its ability to elevate your body’s pH. The Bentonite will absorb some of the hydrogen from your cells, enabling them to fill that space with the oxygen you so dearly need. Headaches, allergic reactions, fatigue, sinus infection and many other health ailments are the result of toxin buildup in the body’s organs. To cleanse your internal organs, you can add a couple teaspoons of clay powder to a smoothie or your favorite food. Be sure to stay hydrated or take it with fiber to help it pass through your digestive system quickly.

Precautions

Make sure you purchase food grade bentonite clay and not sodium bentonite clay. I once made the mistake of purchasing a brand that was perfect for masks and detox baths but not for internal use. Yes, I called the poison control center.

There are two main types of Bentonite clay:

1. Sodium Bentonite, when activated by water, can swell up to six times its size and has a electromagnetic properties. This makes it very absorbent and helpful for drawing out toxins.

2. Calcium Bentonite particles are smaller compared to Sodium Bentonite, which makes it more effective for remineralizing than drawing toxins out of the skin. These small particles can pass through the colon wall into the bloodstream where it gets rid of toxins and leaves minerals behind.

Also bentonite clay may not be appropriate for consumption for children and pregnant women due to it could contains trace amounts of lead .

Don’t allow the clay to come into contact with anything medal or it will be stripped of its powerful healing benefits.

Keep in mind that clay may be an irritant to the lungs for some people, so individuals should avoid inhaling it.

*The FDA is warning consumers to not purchase “Bentonite Me Baby” by Alikay Naturals because of a potential lead poisoning risk, as this product apparently has unsafe levels of lead.

Side Effects

The clay pulls water away form your colon as it passes through your intestine. For this reason you can experience constipation with Bentonite clay when  you  first start  using it. Make  sure  you  are  drinking  plenty of  water. Also,  listen  to  your  body. Once  you start  introducing the clay  to  your body you can  experience heavy  detox  symptoms. Cut  your  dosein  half if  you getting headaches. The clay can absorb medications. Make sure to not consume 2  hours  before  or after  medications ,and  wait  an  hour after taking bentonite clay  to eat.

Please always  consult your doctor before you start  any new health regimen.

You need to clear away any of the emotional, mental and energetic debris that is in the way of your ability to see who you really are in order to create the life you really deserve. My goal in this book is to help you understand and show you how easy it is for you to start cutting out the foods that don’t nourish your body. Hypothyroidism is a very tricky condition and complicated disorder to manage. The foods we eat can interfere with your treatment. We have the abundance of everything at our finger tips but yet we 1 in 3 people are on some sort of medication. It doesn’t matter if it’s Prescribed or over the counter. Why are we are in such a state of denial? Every Cell in your body responds to the foods you eat, the products you put on your body to the house hold chemicals that you purchase for your home. All of these things have a direct impact on your hormones and in return your hormones have a direct impact on every major system in your body. Not to mention that our body is lacking certain nutrients that heavily influence the function of every cell in our body. The foods that we consume, oh, the foods we consume. It is my immense pleasure to write another book on hypothyroidism. In this age of overly processed, genetically modified, artificially flavored and preservative loaded foods. It’s no wonder that more people are wanting to eat a more wholesome and a more all natural diet. We are trying to find our way back to the basics. I hope this book encourages you and inspires you to seek out the truth and start healing your body from the inside out. My mission is to do everything in my power to start to heal and reach your fullest potential. But The Journey Takes Its Toll…

journey

Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? Disease DOESN’T just strike at whim. What do if I told you that most diseases have an underlying ROOT cause? That YOU aren’t some random number picked by  nature to have an Autoimmune Disorder, Hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s, Cancer, Diabetes or Alzheimer’s. Would you believe me if I told you that you hold the key to the answer.

Taking charge of you health doesn’t have to be complicated. Americans are in such a pathetic health crisis. We have the abundance of everything at our finger tips but yet we 1 in 3 people are on some sort of medication. It doesn’t matter if it’s Prescribed or over the counter. Why are we  are in such a state of denial? Every Cell in your body responds to the foods you eat, the products you put on your body to the house hold chemicals that your purchase for your home. All of these things have a  direct impact on your hormones and in return your hormones have a direct impact on every major system in your body. Not to mention that our body is lacking certain nutrients that heavily influence the function of every cell in our body. The foods that we consume, oh, the foods we consume.

Today’s America is over processed, malnourished, dumbed down and slowly being poisoned.

Hypothyroidism is a consequence of actions taken. It is a combination of sequences that you allowed to take  place to get  you to this point in  your life.  Yes, I am pointing the finger at you. I am pointing the finger at myself. I am so busy of “not being aware” and ” grabbing what is easy” that I’ve allowed this to happen. There is this big lie that we all got stuck in.   Listen to me when I say  there’s a major disconnect between what YOU believe to be healthy foods and what research tells us is healthy. In fact, many of the health foods today that people go out of their way to eat daily are extremely thyroid suppressive.

Even dental x-rays have been linked to an increased risk of thyroid disorders.

sprayingpesticides

As consumers we put our trust in the research and development of scientific studies, The FDA and  The CDC.

No wonder our bodies are completely bombarded and overwhelmed with the constant exposed to toxic chemicals through the air that we breathe, the water we drink, the foods we eat, and the personal care products and cleaning products we use.

Pesticides, herbicides, GMOs in our food, fluoride and chlorine and trace pharmaceutical residue in the water supplies, methane, carbon monoxide and industrial pollutants in the air, and the toxic chemicals in our everyday household products.

#2: Digestive System

” I don’t know where to start.”

8 Hypothyroidism Juicing Recipes

Image result for juicing

Living with hypothyroidism isn’t easy. This autoimmune disorder comes with so many frustrating side affects. Did  you know that it takes 24 to 72 hours for food to travel through your G.I. tract before you have a bowel movement of what you ate the day before it becomes a byproduct of broken down foods that you consumed in those 24 to 72 hours prior? Your digestion system is a very active process that needs many resources that are used from the body such as blood flow and energy to break down your food.

How many of us actually eat seven fruits and vegetables per day? Juicing is a great way to give your digestive system a break and your body can easily absorb the nutrients being consumed but you will miss out on fiber, you might not lose that extra weight, it does help to reduce bloating, but it also can be dangerous when to much sugar can lead to blood sugar swings. Let’s not forget to mention it can become quite expensive. Don’t get me wrong, I love juicing and I tend to go through phases where I juice everyday for months on end then I switch over to smoothies. When we juice we are left with all the  super yummy micronutrients and the natural sugars. Try to remember the 4:1 ratio rule. Add 4x more veggies and only 1 fruit. Doing this will ensure that you will cut down on the excess sugar.

Keep in mind that your body does naturally detox every day especially if your eating  whole, healthy ingredients while avoiding processed foods and alcohol.  Don’t forget all of these recipes can be made into a smoothie as well if you add some water, coconut water , unsweetened almond milk or canned coconut milk.

While most people can consume goitrogens:

It seems that most of your  green juice recipes always have kale, spinach or cruciferous vegetables as part of the ingredient in the drink or somewhere in it. Although its fantastic in fighting cancer and have some wonderful health benefits, people with hypothyroidism have to watch their intake of these raw veggies. They can cause  huge problems for us with thyroid conditions. These raw veggies can cause the enlargement of our thyroid gland,  interfere with the production of your thyroid hormone and can actually act like anti-thyroid drugs, slowing it down and ultimately your hypothyroidism to worsen. You can replace goitrogens with organic romaine lettuce.

The following foods have goitrogens:

  • Kale
  • Spinach (raw spinach interferes with the body’s ability to absorb calcium, too)
  • Bok Choy
  • Broccoli
  • Brussels Sprouts
  • Cabbage
  • Cauliflower
  • Collards
  • Mustard Greens
  • Turnips
  • Red Radishes
  • Watercress

8 thoughts on “5 Reasons Armour Thyroid isn’t Helping you lose Weight”

    1. Rae OBrien-dAndre

I was on Armour Thyroid and gained 4 lbs. My Dr switched me today to Synthroid. After reading up on it… I’m not sure it’s going to help. I have such extreme daytime sleepiness that I am also on Provigil…. again… gained 4 lbs. And I am still exhausted. So discouraged.

When it comes to your medication unfortunately its all trial, error and blood work. Armour made me gain 30lbs in 2 months and I had all the bad side effects. Many people find that they are allergic to the fillers in these medications that is why the need to switch until you find what works for you. You can always speak with your pharmacist prior to getting your prescription filled to see what are the ingredients. How do you know you have had a bad reaction to your thyroid medication? it’s not working for you but against you. Also, are you eating to cater to your body? I have no idea about your medical past nor am I a doctor but if you have a food intolerance or if you’re not eating to cater to your body’s specific needs you will gain weight. Those 4lbs you gained could be hormonal, water weight? It can be a number of reasons why you gained that weight. This is why I always recommend people work with a Holistic health practitioner. They can help you discover the right nutritional path for your body’s complexity. They will help you get to the root of your health issues and start helping you heal yourself from the main underlying issues. There is no one size fits all program when you are dealing with hypothyroidism. I hope my information has helped you in some sort of way and I would like to know your progress. Many Blessings to you, Audrey

I started 90 mg of Armour (although my pharmacy gives me NP as a “generic”) about 8 weeks ago. Tried Levo first and felt AWFUL. I feel better on Armour, but for the past few weeks I have been having symptoms of hyperthyroidism: racing heart, pounding pulse, diarrhea, anxiety, irritability. I don’t have tons of weight to lose, but would like to lose about 10 pounds. My weight hasn’t gone anywhere. Any thoughts?

If you haven’t already call your doctor immediately and be seen or if they can’t see you asap let the nurse know exactly what is going on with your body. They will need to check your blood work again and perhaps lower your dosage. The reason why your not losing weight could be a number of things ranging from food intolerances, medications, not exercising, eating crappy foods, drinking empty calorie foods and this is just to name a few. I’m sorry that its is so vague but I don’t know you, your body history nor how you live your daily life. A number of things can be the reason why you are going through what you are going through with your health. It could be a wide range of things from celiac disease, Hashimoto’s, leaky gut, autoimmune disease disorder, nutrient deficiency’s, adrenal fatigue, exposure to chemicals, gluten or other food allergies, and hormonal imbalance. Your body can be influenced by many different circumstances. When I am working with my clients there is a series of questions they answer and we interact verbally. In my books, I give explanations of everything that you should begin incorporating in your life and the changes that need to be made. You should check out my book. beyond the bite: The keto autoimmune protocol for women on Amazon!

Hi, thank you so much for getting back to me! Yes, I understand it would be very hard for you to give me the exact information without seeing me as a patient. I did call my doctor and he ordered bloodwork a few days ago. Hoping to have the results in today. I exercise almost every day and eat a healthy diet (for the most part!) I don’t drink my calories at all, no soda or coffee drinks, etc. I do not have celiac’s disease.
I guess I was wondering if you thought it would be beneficial for me to have my overall Armour dosage lowered but to try some t3 added to my regimen?

Honestly, I tried Armour and couldn’t take it. I had every bad side effect it seemed. In the short time span that I did take it my weight sky rocketed. I am 5″7 and I have always been between 140-148lbs because I eat to cater to my health and I practice yoga walk plus my little mini indoor trampoline . You might not even need the extra T3. My numbers are perfect currently except for the occasional “TSH” that may get a little bit high but I can always manage to bring that back down with avoiding things that trigger it. Some people have tried to just take a regular T4 like Synthroid then take a separate T3 like Cytomel. but this can be difficult because if you have an untreated adrenal insufficiency it would make things worse actually and this is what happened to me.. Make sure you look at your blood work #’s and read them .
Normal Ranges for you blood work
              -TSH- (range .034 – 4.82)
              -Free- T4 (range 0.59 – 1.17)
              -Total -T4 (range 4.5 – 12.0)
              -Total- T3 (range 71 – 180)

Look into getting a Knowledgeable Holistic Health Practitioner
The main reason why you should work with a knowledgeable health practitioner is its patient-centered medical holistic healing at its best.
A knowledgeable holistic health practitioner certainly moves from the confusion of the “one size fits all treatment” approach that we know isn’t working to the one that will cater to what your body needs.
Hopefully you can find one in your area.

              Good luck,
