The Perfect Storm-Hypothyroidism

Having hypothyroidism can be utterly devastating at times. Hypothyroidism is the kind of disease that carries a bit of mystery with it. Hypothyroidism means your thyroid is not making enough thyroid hormone. Your thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland in the front of your throat. It makes the hormones that control the way your body uses energy. Basically, our thyroid hormone tells all the cells in our bodies how busy they should be. Our bodies will go into overdrive with too much thyroid hormone (hyperthyroidism) and our bodies slow down with too little thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism). Around 20 million Americans and 250 million people worldwide will be affected by low thyroid function or hypothyroidism. One in 8 women will struggle with a thyroid problem in her lifetime, and up to 90% of all thyroid problems are autoimmune in nature.

Hypothyroidism is a consequence of actions taken. It is a combination of sequences that you allowed to take  place to get  you to this point in  your life.  Yes, I am pointing the finger at you. I am pointing the finger at myself. I am so busy of “not being aware” and ” grabbing what is easy” that I’ve allowed this to happen. There is this big lie that we all got stuck in.   Listen to me when I say  there’s a major disconnect between what YOU believe to be healthy foods and what research tells us is healthy. In fact, many of the health foods today that people go out of their way to eat daily are extremely thyroid suppressive.

As diseases go, you would think that it would be a cinch to diagnose and pretty straightforward to treat. Each of us are unique individuals with different sensitivities. None of  has the same exact routine as far as what foods we eat, what chemicals we are exposed to and what medications we take but yet we all are similar when it comes to our thyroids not working properly.

Environmental chemicals and toxins, pesticides, BPA, thyroid endocrine disruptors, iodine imbalance, other medications, fluoride, overuse of soy products, cigarette smoking, and gluten intolerance. All of these play a very important role in your thyroid health. A nonprofit group called Beyond Pesticides warns that some 60 percent of pesticides used today have been shown to affect the thyroid gland’s production of T3 and T4 hormones. Commercially available insecticides and fungicides have also been involved. Even dental x-rays have been linked to an increased risk of thyroid disorders.

As consumers we put our trust in the research and development of scientific studies, The FDA and  The CDC. Drug store chains have quota’s to meet and even some of our Doctors get yearly bonus’s. Little do we do that behind closed doors corporations often pay scientists and these companies to  support their product for profit.  Some Politicians seem to have a revolving door between the private and public sector.  The synthetic chemicals we face everyday that is in our food, our water, and  the air that we breathe .

Did you know that products we use every day may contain toxic chemicals and has been linked to women’s health issues? They are hidden endocrine disruptors and are very tricky chemicals that play havoc on our bodies. “We are all routinely exposed to endocrine disruptors, and this has the potential to significantly harm the health of our youth,” said Renee Sharp, EWG’s director of research. “It’s important to do what we can to avoid them, but at the same time we can’t shop our way out of the problem. We need to have a real chemical policy reform.” The longer the length of ingredients on your food label means how much more unhealthy it is for you to consume. When an item contains a host of ingredients that most likely you cant even pronounce or remember to spell you can bet your lucky dollar that the natural nutrients are long gone. These highly processed frank n foods are very difficult for the body to break down and some of the chemicals will become stored in your body. Click on this link to see what you should avoid.

Pesticides, herbicides, GMOs in our food, fluoride and chlorine and trace pharmaceutical residue in the water supplies, methane, carbon monoxide and industrial pollutants in the air, and the toxic chemicals in our everyday household products.

No wonder our bodies are completely bombarded and overwhelmed with the constant exposed to toxic chemicals through the air that we breathe, the water we drink, the foods we eat, and the personal care products and cleaning products we use.

Every Cell in your body responds to the foods you eat, the products you put on your body to the house hold chemicals that you purchase for your home. All of these things have a direct impact on your hormones and in return your hormones have a direct impact on every major system in your body. Not to mention that our body is lacking certain nutrients that heavily influence the function of every cell in our body. The foods that we consume, oh, the foods we consume.

Most of your “conditions” and labels are a lack of the proper nutrition and/or vitamins and minerals. Why not do a little research and find what is causing your disorder? Look up what nutritional steps you need to start taking. What environmental things have an effect on your disorder and start avoiding that.  Why not give you body a fighting chance to heal the issue at hand with herbs, specific vitamins & other natural supplements.  In each stage of  our lives our bodies change and we must learn to adapt and adjust what it needs. Trust me when I say, there certainly isn’t a substitute for figuring out the real underlying reason for your “condition”.  I am not saying try this solely on your on I would  recommend that you get qualified practitioner that will be able to order the appropriate tests for you, and also help you interpret them. You can click on this link and just place in your zip code. It will help you find a Naturopath Doctor in your area.

Looking at the big picture. Like an onion, You must start to work on each layer and see what needs to be addressed, peeling it back, layer by layer.

You have the power to make a difference in your life. You’ve always had the power. No one can force you to become more aware of what you put on  your body and what you put in your body. What you eat is just as important as what you put on your body.   Adjusting your life, reading labels and catering to your specific health needs isn’t easy but it will benefit you in the long run. This is one of the smartest decisions that you can make. Not only will you start to look and feel better but think of the medical cost that you could be saving your future self.

We need to be kind to ourselves. Give our bodies a fighting chance. If you constantly feed your body crap then you are making it susceptible to inflammation, virus’s and disease.  I want to help you become  successful in your healthy journey by applying the empowering techniques many of my blogs have to offer. This article has been  written by a person who has had real struggles with a hypothyroidism  but has worked through them. I am going to  “keep it real” with you.

  1. Reduce your inflammation: Cut out foods like gluten, sugar, refined carbs, fake foods, soy, vegetable oils and add in fresh whole fruits, healthy fats and fiber. (click on this link for a free list of foods to eat and foods to avoid)
  2. Drink bone broth daily: if you start to drink bone broth daily this will add collagen protein and good bacteria to your gut. ( click on this link for a great recipe)
  3. Drink a Green smoothie daily: This will give you a daily boost in your fiber plus cut out some calories. ( click on this link for some great recipes)
  4. Fermented Foods: start eating fermented foods this will start to heal  your gut. ( click here for some fermented foods idea’s)
  5.  Take Supplements:  You need probiotics, fish oil, vitamin b, D3 and a great multi vitamin.
  6. Nurture your adrenals: Start doing yoga and limit your caffeine .
  7.  Reduce your stress: Stress plays a major role in your health. Cortisol ( the stress hormone) affects every single one of you hormones and it add fat around your mid section. You can start meditating, yoga, Epsom salt baths, massages and reading.
  8. Get out in the Sun! The sun is a natural vitamin D and it makes you feel good.
  9. Avoid harsh chemicals: You can start making your own natural cleaning supplies cheaply and without the cost of your health.
  10. Change your personal care products:  Did  you know that it takes 26 seconds for the chemicals in personal body care products to enter into your bloodstream?
  11. Eat Sea Vegetables Twice a Week: Sea vegetables are a good natural source of iodine to support the thyroid.

You have to start addressing what the root cause is of  your hypothyroidism. Would you take Motrin if you got a rock stuck in your shoe? Hypothyroidism does has a root issue. We often ignore the underlying cause of hypothyroidism.  Sometimes we have to do a little pruning of the branches, in order for the tree to be healthy again. A number of things can be the reason why you have hypothyroidism. It could be a wide range of things from  celiac disease, Hashimoto’s, leaky gut,  autoimmune disease disorder, nutrient deficiency’s, adrenal fatigue, exposure to chemicals, gluten or other food allergies, and hormonal imbalance.  It starts with the foods we eat to the chemicals in the environment, your thyroid can be influenced by many different circumstances.

Hypothyroidism is the kind of disease that carries a bit of mystery with it. This blog is not for readers looking for quick answers. There is not one size fits all. You have to be in charge of your health. I didn’t write my books to sell you any “snake oil” in a bottle. I’ve written my books to be an eye opener for you and to share with you what I have learned on my journey. The solutions in this new book  Hypothyroidism: The Beginners Guide: How to stop surviving and start thriving has helped so many people. There are many incredible holistic practitioners, authors and researchers with experience and expertise in this area. I’ve done my best to pull from all their expertise, as well as my own knowledge and clinical experience. I want to make it easy for you to find the answers quickly, all in the one place, because I’m all too familiar with that awful side effects of hypothyroidism. I certainly don’t want you to have to spend years finding solutions, like I did. I also what you to understand that there isn’t an easy “one pill” solution, but the “one pill” approach that our current medical system is using is NOT WORKING because the underlying cause for hypothyroidism is not being addressed.

MESSAGE FROM THE AUTHOR
Sometimes in life we just need clarity. You have to step out of your comfort zone and focus on where your path is headed. You were born with the capacity of abundance. You need to clear away any of the emotional, mental and energetic debris that is in the way of your ability to see who you really are in order to create the life you really deserve. My goal in this book is to help you understand and show you how easy it is for you to start cutting out the foods that don’t nourish your body. Hypothyroidism is a very tricky condition and complicated disorder to manage. The foods we eat can interfere with your treatment. Our body is lacking certain nutrients that heavily influence the function of our thyroid gland while certain foods can inhibit your body’s ability to absorb the replacement hormones. There is no one size fits all program when you are dealing with hypothyroidism. When you start to eat smarter and are aware of what foods feed your body, despite the condition, you can start to feel better and manage your symptoms. Americans are in such a pathetic health crisis. We have the abundance of everything at our finger tips but yet we 1 in 3 people are on some sort of medication. It doesn’t matter if it’s Prescribed or over the counter. Why are we are in such a state of denial? Every Cell in your body responds to the foods you eat, the products you put on your body to the house hold chemicals that you purchase for your home. All of these things have a direct impact on your hormones and in return your hormones have a direct impact on every major system in your body. Not to mention that our body is lacking certain nutrients that heavily influence the function of every cell in our body. The foods that we consume, oh, the foods we consume. It is my immense pleasure to write another book on hypothyroidism. In this age of overly processed, genetically modified, artificially flavored and preservative loaded foods. It’s no wonder that more people are wanting to eat a more wholesome and a more all natural diet. We are trying to find our way back to the basics. I hope this book encourages you and inspires you to seek out the truth and start healing your body from the inside out. All I can give you is the blueprint of things you can start doing today to incorporate a healthier you. I am living this way. I can talk about what has worked for me and share my knowledge with you. Taking charge of your health doesn’t have to be complicated. The journey has just begun. Each day is filled with the opportunity to make an impact and have that ripple effect with your health. My mission is to do everything in my power to start to heal and reach your fullest potential. To help be a source of inspiration you seek and attract what you desire with the faith that your vision of success is your destiny! You deserve to be healthy. You have the power and you have the mindset. Never forget: What we eat, governs what we become. Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanted what you get.

What vitamins and supplements should I be taking to naturally give my Thyroid that needed boost?

CR-Health-AH-Supplements_ss-Drugs-11-15

Weight gain, fatigue and  brain fog. What do these three things have in common? Do they sound familiar?  If  you have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism you know these symptoms all to well.  That small gland in the front of your neck causing all this havoc and chaos when it starts to  slow down or completely stops making the hormone thyroxine.

Vitamins and other nutrients can help fight inflammation, the autoimmune processes and help improve a dysfunctional thyroid but if you don’t know what your needing to supplement they can alter the level of thyroid hormones in your blood and can mask other issues at hand. Supplements can contain various  amounts of active ingredients and how do you know what your body needs?  Your doctor should perform a series of blood tests to see if your body is deficient. If  your doctor isn’t really interested in performing these much needed tests then click on this link to find a Certified Naturopath Doctor in your area.

The Council for Responsible Nutrition, a trade association that represents the dietary supplement industry, acknowledges that thyroid supplements can interact with prescription medications.

Sales of supplements in the United States reached $11.5 billion dollars in 2012.

Sales of all dietary supplements in the United States totaled an estimated $36.7 billion in 2014.

"There is no excuse for a supplement manufacturer to market products
that are unsafe or inaccurately labeled or that make outlandish claims.
Unfortunately, a small number of irresponsible supplement companies are
taking advantage of consumers."

We all know that I am not a doctor but I am a life hacker and a health journalist trying to research and get the word out on the ridiculously overcrowded industry full of shady marketing and dubious claims that are being made.

How can the  FDA  protect the consumers when it doesn’t have a strong history of enforcing the law.

Over a hundred million people taking dietary supplements each day.  How can we determine what is safe?

So, are you saying Audrey that all supplements are bad?

NO, Not at all!

Absolutely most of the supplements being sold are a waste of money.  Although, there are situations in which having a supplement IN ADDITION to a quality nutritious diet can be beneficial.

While working with your doctor with routine blood work to see what is needed, supplements can be helpful in filling in small deficiencies.

How do I know what supplements to take for my hypothyroidism? Remember there are no shortcuts in health and fitness if you want the results to last.

Did you know that a massive study covering multivitamins determined that for a huge majority of healthy individuals with no deficiencies, multivitamins are largely unnecessary!

I believe that  your main focus  should still be on eating a high quality, nutritious diet with plenty of vegetables, and working along side a doctor they can tell you exactly what your body is missing and from there they can help fill in any deficiences you may have.

Hold on, don’t leave just yet! So what  vitamins and supplements should I be taking to naturally give my Thyroid that needed boost?

So there are Fourteen nutrients required for your thyroid to get from your brain creating TSH and stimulating your thyroid gland to produce T4 to T3 and then to activate your cellular metabolic rate. The ten nutrients are:

1.Protein

We want to control blood sugar swings this will help us with a healthy thyroid. Eating  consistent eating throughout the day of high-quality protein at every meal without eating too many carbohydrates.  Remember that blood sugar swings not only affect the thyroid gland itself but also indirectly affect adrenal gland function. You don’t always have to eat meat for protein! Lentils, chickpeas, green peas, quinoa, oatmeal, wild rice, chia seeds, nuts, nut butters, broccoli, spinach, asparagus, artichokes, potatoes, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Remember Not all protein is created equal.

I read an article on WebMD, which stated approximately .36 grams of protein per pound of body weight is enough. I weigh 150 pounds, so my intake should be around  54 grams of protein per day.  Too much protein is a bad thing. A high-protein diet may backfire for people at risk for heart disease — increasing the likelihood of weight gain and early death, a new study suggests.

2.Magnesium

Magnesium helps you to make more T4 in the thyroid gland. It converts the inactive T4 thyroid hormone into the active form of T3. This is extremely important because the metabolism of your body cells are enhanced by T3, not inactive T4.

Magnesium-rich foods which include almonds, pumpkin seeds, chard, spinach, avocado, figs, and even dark chocolate.

Go with a Magnesium Glycinate brand  is a good, it’s  highly absorbable, this is recommended for anyone with a known magnesium deficiency and less likely to cause laxative effects than some other magnesium supplements. daily dose of 400 mg no more than 800 mg

Click on this link to read an article that Dr Axe has written on Magnesium

3.Zinc                                                                 ( This is the brand that I use)

Zinc helps to  convert the  thyroid hormone T4 to T3.  Food sources of zinc include shellfish, mollusks, meat, legumes, and nuts. “If you opt for a zinc supplement, 30 milligrams is sufficient.

Foods high in Zinc are:

  • Shrimp.
  • Kidney beans.
  • Flax Seeds.
  • Pumpkin Seeds.
  • Oysters.
  • Watermelon seeds.

Recommended Daily Allowances. Adult men and adolescent boys between 14 and 18 years of age should aim to consume about 11 milligrams of zinc daily, while adult women 19 years old and over need about 8 milligrams. Girls between 14 and 18 require 9 mg per day.

4.Iodine                                                                 ( I don’t take extra iodine, I get it from foods)

We need only 150 mcg of iodine per day in our diet, according to the Institute of Medicine. “That tiny amount of iodine enables the thyroid to manufacture just the right amount of the thyroid hormone thyroxine.  Good food sources include milk, cheese, poultry, eggs, kelp, and other seaweeds. “But you have to be careful with supplementing iodine because too much can be problematic and actually cause hypothyroidism,” Keep an eye on your iodine intake. Most people get enough iodine from their regular diet.

5.Vitamin C                                                       ( This is the brand that I use)

This vitamin C helps to reduce adrenal stress. It is also a antioxidant that will reduce “oxidative stress placed on the gland either by foreign toxins and harmful free radicals”.

Foods that provide vitamin C are chili peppers,  bell peppers, strawberries, pineapple, mango kiwi, papaya, Brussels sprouts

For adults, the recommended dietary reference intake for vitamin C is 65 to 90 milligrams (mg) a day, and the upper limit is 2,000 mg a day. Although too much dietary vitamin C is unlikely to be harmful, megadoses of vitamin C supplements may cause: Diarrhea. Nausea.

6.Selenium                                                  ( This is the brand that I use)

Selenium supports efficient thyroid synthesis and metabolism. Foods that provide selenium include tuna, shrimp, salmon, sardines, scallops, lamb, chicken, beef, turkey, eggs, and shitake mushrooms.  You can also eat 2 Brazilian nuts per day and get your RDA!

Most people can get their RDA of selenium from food. In studies to determine if selenium could aid in prostate cancer prevention, men took 200 micrograms daily. The safe upper limit for selenium is 400 micrograms a day in adults. Anything above that is considered an overdose.

7.Vitamin D                                                 ( This is the brand that I use)

This vitamin helps to transport thyroid hormone in to cells and  helps to heal autoimmune thyroid disease. 20 minutes of sunlight a day is a natural way to get free vitamin d.

Foods that provide vitamin D include:
  • Fatty fish, like tuna, mackerel, and salmon.
  • Foods fortified with vitamin D, like some dairy products, orange juice, soy milk, and cereals.
  • Beef liver.
  • Cheese.
  • Egg yolks.

Vitamin D intake is recommended at 400800 IU/day, or 10–20 micrograms. However, some studies suggest that a higher daily intake of 10004000 IU (25–100 micrograms) is needed to maintain optimal blood levels.

8.Vitamin A                                              ( This is the brand that I use)

This vitamin  acts on the cells of the body like a hormone because it directly affects the DNA of the cell nucleus directing cellular protein production. The best sources of Vitamin A would be Fermented Cod Liver Oil.

High vitamin A foods include sweet potatoes, carrots, dark leafy greens, winter squashes, lettuce, dried apricots, cantaloupe, bell peppers, fish, liver, and tropical fruits.

Vitamin A is included in most multivitamins, and the U.S. recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for adults is as follows: 900 micrograms daily (3,000 IU) for men and 700 micrograms daily (2,300 IU) for women; for pregnant women 19 years old and older, 770 micrograms daily (2,600 IU); and for lactating women 19 years old.

Other nutrients that are very important to your thyroid health are:

9.Glutathione

Glutathione is a strong antioxidant that helps balance hormones and boost the immune system.  Dr. Axe has written an article,  9 ways to boost glutathione, check it out.

10.Probiotics    ( I use this brand)

Probitoics are important to your gut health. ( This is the brand that I use)

11.Vitamin B Complex         ( This is the brand that I use)

Make sure it has all the b vitamins in it. This vitamin have many interactions with thyroid function and hormone regulation. Good food sources of vitamin B include whole grains, legumes, nuts, milk, yogurt, meat, fish, eggs, seeds, and dark leafy greens.

Recommended dietary amounts (RDAs) are 2.4 micrograms daily for ages 14 years and older, 2.6 micrograms daily for pregnant females, and 2.8 micrograms daily for breastfeeding females. Those over 50 years of age should meet the RDA by eating foods reinforced with B12 or by taking a vitamin B12 supplement.

12.Vitamin E                                  ( This is the brand that I use)

A contains carotenes which is what the thyroid needs to help it function normally.  However, when you take your vitamin E  it is also recommended that you have your selenium at the same time as vitamin E because the vitamin can cause an increase in the metabolism of selenium.

Vitamin E Rich Foods List
  • 1) Almonds. 1 oz: 7.3 mg (27% DV)
  • 2) Spinach. 1 bunch: 6.9 mg (26% DV)
  • 3) Sweet Potato. 1 Tbsp: 4.2 mg (15% DV)
  • 4) Avocado. 1 whole: 2.7 mg (10% DV)
  • 5) Wheat germ. 1 ounce: 4.5 mg (17% DV)
  • 6) Sunflower seeds. 2 Tbsp: 4.2 mg (15% DV)
  • 7) Palm Oil. 1 Tbsp: 2.2 mg (11% DV)
  • 8) Butternut squash.

For adults older than 18 years, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women, the maximum dose is 1,000 milligrams daily (or 1,500 IU). For age-related macular degeneration, 30 milligrams to 500-600 IU of vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) has been taken by mouth daily for 4-8 years.

13.Flaxseed oil                      ( this is the brand that I use)

Omega-3 fatty acids can help”decrease inflammation and help with immunity” for thyroid support. Some studies have indicated that omega-3 fatty acids can increase thyroid hormone uptake.

14.Curcumin-                                      ( This is the brand that I use)

Also know as turmeric. Turmeric can be helpful in reducing whole body inflammation, healing the gut, as well as detoxifying from heavy metals in those with autoimmunity.

Supplement ingredients to avoid

This was in one of my thyroid support pills. I started to have more heart palpitations and my bp was rising. Research- research-and research! Never take anyone word for granted. You must figure out what is best for your body and most important listen to your body.

L-tyrosine- The body naturally produces thyroid hormones. Tyrosine might increase how much thyroid hormone the body produces. Taking tyrosine with thyroid hormone pills might cause there to be too much thyroid hormone. This could increase the effects and side effects of thyroid hormones. It also can block other medications along with interacting . It is possible to end up with hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) from supplementing with L-tyrosine. Click on this link to read the long list of

L-Tyrosine Side Effects & Adverse Reactions (List)

Kelp, a type of seaweed that is often marketed for thyroid health, is loaded with iodine. For example, a serving (one drop) of Liquid Kelp, a dietary supplement promoted for “Thyroid Gland Support,” contains 800 mcg of iodine. “Most people get enough iodine from their regular diet,” Lipman says. But if you take a supplement that contains kelp, plus a multivitamin, such as GNC Women’s Ultra Mega One Daily containing 150 mcg of iodine, and also use iodized salt that contains 400 mcg of iodine per teaspoon, it’s easy to consume far more iodine than your thyroid needs—and thats not healthy for you.

Somewhere in my day I try to soak up 20 minutes of sun

Snack is normally a Fit Bar ( I use this brand)

Dinner

I eat an approved Dinner from my book

A Survivors Cookbook Guide to Kicking Hypothyroidism Booty

Along with My Vitamin C     ( This is the brand that I use)

A few times a week I also have a detox bath or a body wrap

Detox baths and wraps- ( click on link for free recipes)

I make sure I get all my water in I have to have no less than 75oz’s per day.

How you calculate your water intake is your weight divided by 2

So if you weigh 150lbs divide that by 2 and its 75. 75oz’s

Never-ever drink your water intake @ 1 time. People have died from that. Water toxicity.

Also 1-2 glasses of red wine.

This is my favorite brand that I use

What to do if I have a mineral or vitamin deficiency?

First of all, let me say that I support you changing your food patterns and getting what your body is lacking through the consumption of whole organic foods if at all possible. I am in no way trying to “sell” you any vitamin supplements or as I like to call some vitamins, “expensive urine” but if for some reason, if you can’t get what you need through organic whole foods then I want you to be smart about what you are swallowing and not wasting your money on what will ultimately turn into “expensive urine”.

This is really a difficult topic to cover because we are all ‘again” not created the same.

In order to get the correct daily dosage is not like as simple as putting gas in your tank. You just simply can’t swallow a pill and call it a day. A recommendation is just that a recommendation. What you may need from the absorption rates, elimination rates, assessing what the vitamin or mineral even does in your body can mean something totally different to you verses the next person that is given the same recommendation. It seems we may be getting just enough to survive but it’s not unreasonable to get enough to thrive! We must pay attention to our diet and blood work, add extra to what we need and pay major attention to what we are lacking.

For example, if you are low on Vitamin D.

The Reference Daily Intake (RDI) is 600 IU of vitamin D per day from foods and closer to 1,000 IU per day from sunlight.

There are three ways to get vitamin D. 1. The most natural way would be exposing your bare skin to sunlight like your arms, legs and face for 20 minutes (No, you do NOT need sunscreen. I absolutely urge you to look at your sunscreen ingredients and see how harmful the ingredients are actually. There are plenty of natural way to make sunscreen or several companies who make great organic sunscreen. I prefer to just apply raw, unrefined, organic coconut oil) 2. Taking a quality vitamin D3 supplement. 3. Eating foods that are rich in vitamin D such as

Cod liver oil — 1 teaspoon has 453 IU of vitamin D

Wild Alaskan Salmon — 3 ounces has 447 IU

Tuna — 3 ounces has 154 IU

Sardines — 2 fillets have 46 IU

Pasture Raised Eggs — 1 large egg has 41 IU

Mushrooms — 1 cup has 2 IU

(Mushrooms are a nightshade. In this book, I urge you to avoid nightshades but I only showed this as an example of foods that are high in vitamin D. Later in the book, I will go into more detail about the foods that will cater to healing your thyroid along with recipes)

Not all vitamins and mineral supplements are created equal.

This is what I mean when I say. “expensive urine”.

I am sure there are many companies who sell quality vitamins but I’ve found that Garden of Life Multivitamin for Women – Vitamin Code Women’s Raw Whole Food Vitamin Supplement with Probiotics work best for me because a women’s body is very complex. The company promises that this vitamin has no fillers or binders, it’s made from raw whole foods and nothing synthetic (made from fake chemicals acting like the real thing). This multivitamin also has live probiotics and enzymes plus antioxidants. It is also gluten and dairy free which are issues with people with hypothyroidism and food intolerances.

This vitamin hits all areas of my female body.  It’s a comprehensive vitamin for breast health, reproductive health, bone strength, skin health, heart health, and digestive support.

Yes, I may sound as if I am advertising for them but I can assure you I am not and I get no kickbacks if you decide to purchase the same brand that I use. I am only sharing with you what I use and why I use it. How would they even know that you purchased their product because I wrote it in my book? There is no way that this company even knows that am on this planet.

When you are searching for a quality vitamin and mineral supplement to take please make sure it’s not filled with fake crap and has no hidden fillers, binders, gluten, soy lecithin, palm oil, basically read the fine print and make sure there are no hidden added extra things. Also, make sure it has everything your body needs for that extra support that you might not be getting with your food intake. I also like to read the reviews that other people have written about the product that tends to help me make my decision as well.

Whatever your body is lacking you can always google, if you don’t have access to the internet at home, you can freely go to the nearest library and do a little research to see what you need to do the adjustments to whatever you are lacking and begin to build it back up again. There is no reason for you not to have access to the most powerful information tool created in the history of mankind. I am referring to the internet along with search engine tools such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, Internet Archive, Baidu, Ask.com, Yandex.ru and DuckDuckGo.

I also found it beneficial for me to fast before my blood work. I wouldn’t have anything to eat or drink other than water for 8 to 10 hours before my test. Fasting helps ensure that the blood test records an accurate measurement of many things. If I was checking to see if I had a vitamin or mineral deficiency. I also would skip out on taking any mineral/vitamins supplements for several days so my body could be accurately measured to what it is holding on too or what it is truly lacking.

You see my friend, you certainly don’t want your blood work test results could come back flawed, leading to the wrong diagnosis and treatment.

*** Always check with your Primary Care Physician for approval to fast prior to fasting for your blood work***

Another good read is 7 reasons to stay away from soy.  Click on the link to read more.

What is soy lecithin and why you should avoid it? (NaturalNews – S. D. Wells) Soy lecithin is one of the most ubiquitous additives in the American food supply. It’s used mostly as an emulsifier, and it pops up in everything from chocolate and salad dressings to tea bags and supplements. If you ask any allopathic doctor in the country, they always say the same thing about food toxins — “there’s not enough in there to cause concern,” or “a little bit is not going to hurt you.” Oh, but it most certainly does. When you add it all up — all those GMOs and little, extra-processed, toxic “additives and preservatives” — you end up with cancer, unless of course you learn to watch out not only for the big killers but the seemingly “innocent” little ones too. A thousand tiny arrows will kill you, just like one or two big ones, my friends. To read more about this article please  Click on this link .

I don’t know where to start

Hang in there. This wont happen overnight.

I know, there is so much information overload that most people are confused as to where to start.  You can start by taking ownership of your health. I wanted you to understand or get a idea of how everything has a part to play in your body. I am on a  path to help you, lead you and inform you through this terrible illness. Being diagnosed with hypothyroidism isn’t just here take this pill and it will fix your issues. Hypothyroidism has a root cause. Once you start addressing the root of your problems then your body can start healing itself. Your body is an awesome design but there is a complex balance between everything. It’s a domino affect. If you have something in your body that is overworked  it will cause a major shift in your body. Don’t worry the good news is it can be healed.

Sometimes we have to do a little pruning of the branches, in order for the tree to be healthy again. A number of things can be the reason why you have hormonal imbalances, food intolerances, thyroid issues, adrenal fatigue, weight gain, insomnia, personality changes, leaky gut, depression, an autoimmune disorder, chronic pain, no metabolism and low sex drive, bloating, anxiety, menstrual problems and infertility. It starts with becoming aware and how your health can be influenced by many different circumstances.
How would you define good health? Logically one would define good health as absence of a disease or following some sort of ground rules that avoid developing a disease. This book can help you begin to understand what a Keto Autoimmune protocol is and start guiding you in the redevelopment and healing of your body. You will begin to understand how to fix your gut, strengthen your immunity and fight inflammation with an autoimmune approach. The Keto AIP removes all the common inflammatory food triggers that stimulate a possible autoimmune reaction in the body. Along with helping to reset those adrenals, boosting that energy and doing a little ass kicking to those hormones that have decided to act like a wild college student and pull an all-nighter the day before final exams.
Your health doesn’t have to be a difficult situation but a positive realization that things need to change. This new lifestyle change has many parts to it and I hope you will embrace not only the physical but the spiritual awakening. Common food intolerances that are known to trigger inflammation are eliminated in this Keto AIP protocol are Nightshades, Eggs, Grains (gluten), Dairy, Legumes, Corn, Soy, Dairy and lectins.

Wellness Without Medication, Who Knew?

wellness

It seems the current medical industry has  been abducted by the pharmaceutical industry. In our society we have become so blinded by the Big Pharma propaganda. Once you are labeled with a disease or a condition most of the  medications prescribed have horrible side effects and can lead to other issues but in reality these medications only mask the real issue at hand.

“Our prescription drugs are the third leading cause of death after heart disease and cancer. Our drugs kill around 200,000 people in America every year, and half of these people die while they do what their doctors told them—so they die because of the side-effects,” said Dr. Gotzsche in his recent interview. “The other half die because of errors—and it’s often the doctors that make the errors because any drug may come with 20, 30 or 40 warnings, contraindications, precautions…and then the patients die.”

NSAIDs as an example of only one group of medications, are fatally toxic to thousands of people each year by damaging joints, lungs, kidneys, eyes, hearts, and intestines and they are covered by insurance companies.

This should come to you as no surprise but some  physicians actually receive compensation from the drug industry aka “Big Pharma”. (Choudhry, JAMA 2002; 287: 612-617). Also, our part of the government that is in charge of approving drugs called the FDA has advisers with financial ties  (and is heavily lobbied by) the very drug industry that is seeking its approval. And as the New England Journal of Medicine and Journal of the American Medical Association warm, even the hired clinical investigators for new drugs may have their price. ‘  Did you know that 70 percent of Americans  are taking prescription drugs?

Even some of our most prestigious journals publish research based on falsified studies, according to Charles Seife, a journalism professor whose class spent a semester trying to figure out why the data doesn’t get corrected once research fraud comes to light.  “As a result,” Seife writes, “nobody ever finds out which data is bogus, which experiments are tainted, and which drugs might be on the market under false pretenses.”. Is Big Pharma America’s New Mafia?

Here’s a crazy idea: Why not give your body a chance to heal itself?

Light Bulb Moment: Why can’t we cure what ails us without pharmaceuticals?

Now, if you read anything in this blog make sure you hear me when I say, ” Don’t stop taking your medications”. You need to work with a doctor ,be monitored and follow their instructions. Your body might need those prescriptions and if you suddenly stop taking them, it might kill you. Therefore, you need to closely work with a Certified Naturopath Doctor in your area.

Did you know that Vitamins A, C, E, zinc, selenium, garlic, coconut oil, omega-3 fatty acids  have the ability to lower blood pressure, boost the immune system or also offer anti-viral properties? its  NEVER too late to do something to improve your health.

Dr Sherry Rogers has written many books on various health issues. Check her out .. She might have what your needing to get you  started in the right direction. click on this link and it will lead you to a list of her books.

Here are 3 simple things you can do to start healing your body:

A. Start feeding your body the fuel and tools it needs to work best. Good food, nutrients and all the proper vitamins, minerals and antioxidants needed daily. Get with a Certified Naturopath Doctor in your area.   to make sure you aren’t deficient in any of the major nutrients because they all work together.

B. Start a detox program. By allowing the crap to come out your body can start to detoxify out all the toxic and harmful substances  that you’ve allowed to build up over time. Read labels and become away of all the harmful  toxins that are in so many products and in our food supply. Your body is probably full of inflammation so start consuming foods that fight inflammation.

C. Look at your body as a whole so it can begin healing. You entire body works together and if one area is affected its like a domino affect on the other areas. It puts a strain on the other areas and they have to work harder to pull the weight of that area that not working like it should. So, start working on Reducing your body’s total load. You health condition has a root cause. Once you start addressing the root of your problems is when your body can start healing itself. Your body is an awesome design but there is a complex balance between everything. It’s a domino affect. Three things you must start t doing immediately is getting your immune system in check, fixing your unhealthy gut  and decreasing inflammation. Inflammation disrupts the production and regulatory mechanisms of  hormones.  Sometimes we have to do a little pruning of the branches, in order for the tree to be healthy again.

16 Quotes On Poisons… I mean those magic Drugs our medical quacks prescribe.

1. “The cause of most disease is in the poisonous drugs physicians superstitiously give in order to effect a cure.” Charles E. Page, M.D.
2. “The greatest part of all chronic disease is created by the suppression of acute disease by drug poisoning.” Henry Lindlahr, M.D.

6. “Drug medications consists in employing, as remedies for disease, those things which produce disease in well persons. Its materia medica is simply a lot of drugs or chemicals or dye-stuffs in a word poisons. All are incompatible with vital matter; all produce disease when brought in contact in any manner with the living; all are poisons.” R.T. TraIl, M.D., in a two and one half hour lecture to members of congress and the medical profession, delivered at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.
7. “Drugs never cure disease. They merely hush the voice of nature’s protest, and pull down the danger signals she erects along the pathway of transgression. Any poison taken into the system has to be reckoned with later on even though it palliates present symptoms. Pain may disappear, but the patient is left in a worse condition, though unconscious of it at the time.” Daniel. H. Kress, M.D.
8. “Every drug increases and complicates the patients condition.” Robert Henderson, M.D.
9. “Medicine is only palliative, for back of disease lies the cause, and this cause no drug can reach.” Wier Mitchel, M.D.
10. “The person who takes medicine must recover twice, once from the disease and once from the medicine.” William Osler, M.D.
11. “Medical practice has neither philosophy nor common sense to recommend it. In sickness the body is already loaded with impurities. By taking drug – medicines more impurities are added, thereby the case is further embarrassed and harder to cure.” Elmer Lee, M.D., Past Vice President, Academy of Medicine.
12. “Our figures show approximately four and one half million hospital admissions annually due to the adverse reactions to drugs. Further, the average hospital patient has as much as thirty percent chance, depending how long he is in, of doubling his stay due to adverse drug reactions.” Milton Silverman, M.D. (Professor of Pharmacology, University of California)
13. “Why would a patient swallow a poison because he is ill, or take that which would make a well man sick.” L.F. Kebler, M.D.
14. “What hope is there for medical science to ever become a true science when the entire structure of medical knowledge is built around the idea that there is an entity called disease which can be expelled when the right drug is found?” John H. Tilden, M.D.
15. “The necessity of teaching mankind not to take drugs and medicines, is a duty incumbent upon all who know their uncertainty and injurious effects; and the time is not far distant when the drug system will be abandoned.” Charles Armbruster, M. D.
16. “We are prone to thinking of drug abuse in terms of the male population and illicit drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and marijuana. It may surprise you to learn that a greater problem exists with millions of women dependent on legal prescription drugs.” Robert Mendelsohn, M.D

Discover How I Lowered My High Blood Pressure Naturally and Put My Hypothyroidism in Remission-Naturally!

hbp1

There was a time not to long ago that my blood pressure seemed to never get below 153/95 and  this was on a good day. Most days it was 165/101. I eat incredibility well. I manage my stress the best that I can and I exercise. My weight isn’t high. I stay between my normal range of 143-150 and my height is 5’6. Why is my blood pressure so high? My doctor knows how I am about medications. He kept saying,” Watch those #’s if it doesn’t come down after the next few visits you will need to go on blood pressure medication” . My mother had a stroke from high blood pressure, so, I was very well aware of what high blood pressure can do. So much aware that I was driving my family crazy with always checking my blood pressure morning , noon and night. Before my feet hit the floor in the morning, I took my blood pressure upon waking.

The American Heart Association defines normal blood pressure as a systolic reading less than 120 mmHg and a diastolic reading less than 80 mmHg. Prehypertension is defined as a systolic reading of 120 to 139 mmHg or a diastolic reading of 80 to 90 mmHg. High blood pressure (HBP) or hypertension is defined as a systolic reading greater than 140 mmHg or a diastolic reading greater than 90 mmHg (stage 1).

I believe that most medications  Americans rely upon can be hazardous to their  health. According to the CDC around 300,000 people are rushed each year to the ER because of adverse drug reactions. I also believe that we are  guinea pigs to the drug companies who allow drugs on the market before really knowing the possible side effects and the FDA allows this to happen and meanwhile they are getting rich off our sickness.

It is estimated that over 200,000 people die each year from medication-related deaths which makes  the third or fourth leading cause of death in this country. Doesn’t the magical bean or pill  sound so much worse than actually having the disorder or disease?

I know, my thyroid plays a very important role in my body. It talks to  all the cells in our bodies instructing them on what they need to do.

Previous studies have shown that there is a common link between hypothyroidism and diastolic hypertension aka High Blood Pressure.

Hypertension is something to be taken very seriously. According to the American Heart Association, about 77.9 million adults have high blood pressure . This means that about 1 out of every 3 people in the United States has this condition. Hypertension contributes to one out of every seven deaths in the United States, and approximately 70% of those who have a first heart attack or stroke or who have heart failure have hypertension. And while medication can effectively help to manage hypertension in many cases, according to the statistics, 47.5 percent of people with high blood pressure do not have it controlled.

Most people with hypothyroidism have lower blood pressure.

I was prescribed the  thyroid drug Synthroid (levothyroxine sodium).  I’ve been taking it for years. Synthroid (levothyroxine), a synthetic thyroid hormone that is actually the fourth most prescribed medication in the United States.  Synthroid only replaces T4, leaving your body to convert this to T3 (triiodothyronine, the biologically active form of the hormone). Most people cannot effectively convert the T4 in synthetic thyroid preparations to T3, which may explain why research has shown that a combination of T4 and T3 is often more effective than T4 alone.

The conversion to T3 can be halted by nutritional deficiencies such as low selenium, inadequate omega-3 fatty acids, low zinc, chemicals from the environment, or by stress.

So oftentimes taking T4 alone will result in only partial improvement.

“There is an interesting journal article written Dr. Sara Danzi and Dr. Irwin Klein, and in the article it is discussed how T3 is an important regulator of gene expression in the heart, and many of the cardiac manifestations of hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism are associated with changes in T3-mediated cardiac gene expression . This article also discussed how several important cardiac gene products play a role in regulating cardiac contractility, and that T3 is important when it comes to muscle contraction. The same article also discusses how thyroid hormone is important in coordinating the electrochemical and mechanical responses of the myocardium.”

So, with all this being said. I realized with a light bulb moment that  it was my T4 only medication contributing to my higher than normal blood pressure. I needed a combined T4 and T3 therapy. Along with perhaps that my body wasn’t converting to T3 due a nutritional deficiency such as low selenium, inadequate intake of omega-3 fatty acids, low zinc or chemicals from the environment, or by stress.

Natural thyroid products, like Armour thyroid are a combination of T4, T3 and T2 made from desiccated, or dried, porcine thyroid. In fact, one study clearly demonstrated that patients with hypothyroidism showed greater improvements in mood and brain function if they received treatment with Armour thyroid than if they received Synthroid.

Not everyone does well on a NDT, some do better on synthetics, especially when they have Hashimoto’s. The similarity of pig thyroid to human thyroid can encourage lymphocyte attacks on the thyroid gland.

What did I do to start bring it down?

Tips To Lowering High Blood Pressure

So how I started to effectively lower high blood my pressure? I started looking at foods that naturally lowered your blood pressure along with combining it with my hypothyroidism diet. Sounds complicated. No, not really. Nothing a little research couldn’t fix. No worries, though my friend. I am going to tell you what I ate and how I incorporated it into my hypothyroidism diet.

1. Start with a food journal. Keep track of everything that you put in your mouth, what you drink and the products that you use on your body. Printable Click on the link Food Journal

salt

2. Sodium.  Monitor your sodium intake. An ideal limit of no more than 1,500 mg.  The average American’s sodium intake is so excessive, even cutting back to no more than 2,400 milligrams a day will significantly improve blood pressure and heart health.  This goes without saying,  until you can get it under control. Eating salt raises the amount of sodium in your bloodstream and wrecks the delicate balance, reducing the ability of your kidneys to remove the water. The result is a higher blood pressure due to the extra fluid and extra strain on the delicate blood vessels leading to the kidneys.

Here are the approximate amounts of sodium in a given amount of table salt:

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt = 575 mg sodium
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt = 1,150 mg sodium
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt = 1,725 mg sodium
  • 1 teaspoon salt = 2,300 mg sodium

3. If you take other medications. Research them. See if they have a history of increasing a persons blood pressure if so you might want to get with your doctor to find another medication that wont raise your blood pressure.

  • Some medicines can make blood pressure rise. If you have high blood pressure to begin with, it can rise to dangerous levels.
  • Some medications may interact with your blood pressure medicine. This can prevent either drug from working properly.

This is where you have to do some research and most importantly check with your doctor

2. Eat a healthy diet. This goes without saying, as eating well is important when dealing with any chronic health condition.eating more foods rich in potassium, calcium, and magnesium. If your at a loss for recipes you either click on this link and follow the dash diet recipe list or order my new book.  How I Lowered My High Blood Pressure Naturally and Put My Hypothyroidism in Remission-Naturally!  I have over 50 recipes that are catered to lowering your blood pressure as-well as healing that thyroid!

Research suggests a plant-based diet high in potassium and low in sodium will make a difference.

Foods high in potassium give you a better ratio of potassium to sodium. This allows your kidneys to get rid of more sodium through your urine, which lowers your blood pressure.

The Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Sciences establish dietary reference intakes (DRIs) that are used as references/guidelines for micronutrient consumption in the United States . There are currently 13 vitamins and 22 minerals that have been identified as micronutrients essential for normal body function. They are called micronutrients because they are needed by the body in small amounts (mg to µg). Sodium and potassium are two of these minerals; they are essential for water balance, transmission of nerve impulses, and contraction/relaxation of muscle.

The more potassium you eat, the more sodium you lose through urine. Potassium also helps to ease tension in your blood vessel walls, which helps further lower blood pressure. The recommended potassium intake for an average adult is 4,700 milligrams (mg) per day. Just don’t over do it .. You can overdue to much potassium. Eating foods rich in potassium is the way to go, not over the counter potassium supplements unless prescribed or directed for you to take  by your doctor. High potassium foods include beans, dark leafy greens, potatoes, squash, yogurt, fish, avocados, mushrooms, and bananas. You can eat all of these with hypothyroidism

  • Cantaloupe
  • Green vegetables
  • Potato
  • Tomatoes
  • Seeds
  • Mint leaves

Berries, especially blueberries, are rich in natural compounds called flavonoids. One study found that consuming these compounds might prevent hypertension, and possibly help to reduce high blood pressure

Potatoes

Potatoes are high in potassium and magnesium, two minerals that can help to lower your blood pressure. They are also high in fiber, which is necessary for an overall healthy diet

Beets

Researchers found that people with high blood pressure saw significant improvements from drinking beetroot juice. The study authors found that the nitrates in the juice brought down the participants’ blood pressure within just 24 hours.

You can juice your own beets or simply cook and eat the whole root. Beetroot is delicious when roasted or when added to stir-fries and stew.

Ingredients

  • Beet root medium sized – 3
  • Celery sticks – 5
  • Green apples – 2
  • 1/2 inch peeled ginger

Directions

  • Core the apples and cut into small chunks.
  • Peel the beet and cut into similar smaller chunks.
  • Chop the celery sticks and blend all together or place in your juicer.

Ingredients

  •  Apple — 1
  •  Lemon – 1
  •  Celery stalks – 2
  •  Beet with the leaves – 1
  •  Romaine Lettuce – handful

Directions

  • Core the apple, and slice into small chunks.
  • Cut the beet, chop the leaves.
  • Chop the Romaine.
  • Peel the lemon and blend all of these together or place in your juicer

Ingredients

  • Small Beet – 1
  • Medium sized cucumber – ½
  • Pineapple chunks – 1 cup

Directions

  • Chop the beet
  • Peel and chop the cucumber
  • Add the pineapple chunks along with the rest of the ingredients and blend or place in your juice

Oatmeal

High-fiber, low-fat, and low-sodium foods are just what you want for lowering your blood pressure, and oatmeal fits the bill.

Oatmeal for your breakfast is a great way to charge up for the day.

Bananas

Bananas are a great way to add potassium to your diet. Eating foods that are rich in this mineral is better than taking supplements.

2. Exercise regularly. Numerous studies have shown that exercise can help to reduce blood pressure . One study I came across even showed that aerobic exercise can reduce blood pressure in resistant hypertension , which is high blood pressure in people taking anti-hypertensive medication but I  urge you to take it easy when you have hypothyroidism.  We all know that regular exercise is an important part of your overall health. Exercise burns calories to prevent weight gain and helps speed up your metabolism. It is also a releases endorphins to give you those mood-enhancing chemicals. What if I told you that exercise can cause adrenal crashes due to your already high cortisol issues? You could be stressing your thyroid out even more and not even realizing it. Are you exercising but not getting any results? Are you still gaining weight, feeling constantly fatigued, irritable and moody and often battling some other sort of sickness? You could be  actually stressing your body more out by over-exercising.

3. Manage your stress levels. Stress can elevate your blood pressure.

  1. Tips to manage stressful situations. .
  2. Listen to music. Listen to music. …
  3. Call a friend. Call a friend. …
  4. Talk yourself through it. Talk yourself through it. …
  5. Eat right. Eat right. …
  6. Laugh it off. Laugh it off. …
  7. Drink tea. Drink tea. …
  8. Be mindful. Be mindful.

4. Consider nutritional supplementation  for high blood pressure. Certain supplements have been shown to lower blood pressure. There is evidence that fish oils and CoQ10 can lower blood pressure.

Nutritional support can be used on its own; however, you’ll get the best results if you also make diet and lifestyle changes. Here are my top nutrients for lowering blood pressure:

6. Stop smoking. Enough said!  I don’t have to go into all the detailed of how bad it is to smoke. I’m sure you’ve heard all the lectures before.

7. Drink Hibiscus Tea.

In a new study, drinking three cups of herbal tea containing hibiscus each day lowered blood pressure. … Overall, drinking hibiscus tea blends lowered systolic blood pressure — the top number in the blood pressure reading — by an average of 7 points. I know it did mine!!!

8. Drink Coconut Water

One of the causes for high blood pressure is an imbalance of electrolytes in the blood. … Modern researchers say the potassium content in coconut water plays a huge role in lowering blood pressure. Both potassium chloride (seen in supplements) and potassium citrate (seen in foods) can help lower blood pressure.

9. Eat Garlic

In double-blind studies with garlic preparations providing a daily dose of at least 10 mg allicin, blood pressure readings dropped with typical reductions of 11 mm Hg for the systolic and 5.0 in the diastolic within a 1 to 3-month period. To get enough allicin, eat 1 to 4 cloves of fresh garlic a day

I have a wonderful drink mix that I consume every day!

This wonderful tonic can be used more than just as a heart health protocol;

it’s been proven to reduce cholesterol, heal hemorrhoids, clear out arteries for your heart, reduce blood pressure, stop colds in their tracks, ease constipation, heal ulcers, promote weight loss, treats respiratory issues, and you can even put it on a cotton swab and treat acne  and pimples. This hasn’t been proven, but I also have a theory that I jokingly say, “It repels vampires and unwanted friends who get to close in your personal space.” I’ve seen various different ways to make it. This is how I make it.  Put 3 tablespoons in a glass of water on an empty stomach daily. Garlic, ginger, and even lemon can interact with certain medications. Please check with your health care provider to make sure that you won’t have any adverse medication reactions if you plan on taking this as a drink with other medications.

10 gloves of garlic

1 cup of raw honey

1 cup of organic apple cider vinegar

2-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled

2 lemons, washed and cut

Blend, strain, and store in a mason jar in the refrigeration.

10. Heart Healthy Hawthorn

Hawthorn is used for diseases of the heart and blood vessels such as congestive heart failure (CHF), chest pain, and irregular heartbeat. It is also used to treat both low blood pressure and high blood pressure, “hardening of the arteries” (atherosclerosis), and high cholesterol.

11.Addressing the Root Cause!

I needed to understand or get a idea of how everything has a part to play in my body. Being diagnosed with hypothyroidism wasn’t just here take this pill and it will fix my issues. Hypothyroidism had a root cause. Once I started addressing the root of your problems then my body can start healing itself. My body is an awesome design but there is a complex balance between everything. It’s a domino affect. If I had  something in my body that is overworked  it can cause a major shift in my body.  Two things I needed to  start doing immediately is getting my immune system in check and decreasing inflammation. Inflammation disrupts the production and regulatory mechanisms of thyroid hormones. Sometimes we have to do a little pruning of the branches, in order for the tree to be healthy again. A number of things can be the reason why I had hypothyroidism. It could be a wide range of things from  celiac disease, Hashimoto’s, leaky gut,  autoimmune disease disorder, nutrient deficiency’s, adrenal fatigue, exposure to chemicals, gluten or other food allergies, and hormonal imbalance.  It most defiantly started  with the foods that I was eating and the chemicals in the environment, my thyroid could  be influenced by many different circumstances. I needed to start figuring out what the root cause of my hypothyroidism was.

Round and Round You Go Don’t Expect Your Thyroid Hormone To Flow- Surprising Ways That I Reduced My Thyroid Antibodies

heartfuncthyroid

Surprising Ways That I Reduced My Thyroid Antibodies

At one time I honestly couldn’t remember the last time that I woke up feeling refreshed and I honestly couldn’t recall a day that I wasn’t bloated, my joints didn’t ache , some for of a heart palpitation, dizziness, anxiety, or a panic attack, and a full nights rest.

Have you heard of TPO antibodies

Thyroid peroxidase (TPO), is an enzyme normally found in the thyroid gland,  it plays an important role in the production of your thyroid hormones. A TPO test detects antibodies against TPO in the blood. … In autoimmune disorders, your immune system makes antibodies that mistakenly attack normal tissue.

When you have a higher level of TPO antibodies in your body it may mean that you have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

You no longer have a “regular” thyroid condition. It’s now a autoimmune disease. This  “autoimmune disease” has  your very  own body attacking itself  and does its best to destroy your thyroid gland.Your body thinks your thyroid gland is a foreign invader much like  a bacteria, virus, fungi, parasites and its going do its best to protect and destroy.

Did you know that your treatment should change if  you have thyroid antibodies in your blood which means you have inflammation and are autoimmune.  When you lower your   inflammation and reduce autoimmunity it will also start to lower your TPO antibodies.

Getting on the right medication to restore your  thyroid hormone levels  with T4 & T3 are very important but if your TPO antibodies (autoimmune disease)  is not addressed, then your like a hamster on a wheel. Round and round you go don’t expect your thyroid hormone to flow.

As a patient with hypothyroidism has your doctor checked to see if you have TPO antibodies? If not, this means many patients with  Hashimoto’s are being mismanaged and having  TPO antibodies changes everything.

7 Thyroid Tests

Listen TSH alone does not give a full picture of thyroid health.

Normal Ranges for you blood work
TSH- (range .034 – 4.82)
Free- T4 (range 0.59 – 1.17)
Total -T4 (range 4.5 – 12.0)
Total- T3 (range 71 – 180)

1. TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) TSH – This is a pituitary hormone that responds to low/high amounts of circulating thyroid hormone. In advanced cases of Hashimoto’s and primary hypothyroidism, this lab test will be elevated, (read post about interpreting your TSH test). In the case of Graves’ disease the TSH will be low. People with Hashimoto’s and central hypothyroidism may have a normal reading on this test.

2. Thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPO Antibodies) Thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPO Antibodies) and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TG Antibodies) – Most people with Hashimoto’s will have an elevation of one or both of these antibodies. These antibodies are often elevated for decades before a change in TSH is seen. People with Graves’ disease and thyroid cancer may also have an elevation in thyroid antibodies including TPO & TG, as well as TSH receptor antibodies.

3. Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TG Antibodies) Read # 2

4. Thyroid Ultrasound Thyroid Ultrasound – A small percentage of people may have Hashimoto’s, but may not have thyroid antibodies detectable in the blood. Doing a thyroid ultrasound will help your physician determine a diagnosis.

5. Free T3 Free T3 & Free T4 – These tests measure the levels of active thyroid hormone circulating in the body. When these levels are low, but your TSH tests in the normal range, this may lead your physician to suspect a rare type of hypothyroidism, known as central hypothyroidism.

6. Free T4

7.reverse T3

You must be an advocate for health and insist on all the following tests especially the two thyroid antibody tests.

  • Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOAb) #2
  • Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TgAb) #3

Don’t allow your doctor to refuse to give you these tests. Many  people have normal lab tests but still have Hashimoto’s disease. It’s all in the antibodies!

How to lower your TPO-antibodies!

You must find and remove your “Autoimmune Trigger Key”.

  1. Fix your gut!

if you have a leaky gut and you correct this problem by removing the leaky gut trigger foods and start to repair the gut. Now, if  you start to heal  your gut and your  autoimmunity issue isn’t normalized then you must continue on your search. Every Cell in your body responds to the foods you consume.  These foods have a direct impact on your hormones and in return your hormones have a direct impact on every major system in your body. So many of us have these crazy phantom-like health problems.  Our body is lacking certain nutrients that heavily influence the function of every cell in our body while certain foods can inhibit your body’s ability to absorb the replacement nutrients needed.

2. Chemical Exposure.

Look at it another way. When is the last time that you seen a  Azodicarbonamide grazing in a field or  Sodium benzoate being grown in a garden?

3. Go Gluten Free!

You have to start removing the thyroid suppressive foods that are in your diet and instead focus on the right foods that stimulate your thyroid to produce an abundant amount of thyroid hormone to keep your cells happy and healthy. When you eat foods full of thyroid suppressive toxins its just like throwing fuel on the fire. This will only continue to drain you of your energy, continue to make your symptoms worse, promote even more inflammation in  your body, contribute to a leaky gut and further damage your thyroid.

Gluten intolerance is pretty common than previously recognized.  It’s a major trigger for  autoimmune conditions. By  removing wheat, barley, and rye products, as well as corn, oats, millet, and coffee your are allowing yourself to heal. You must give it a 3-month try to really see if there’s a difference.

4. Start Dry Brushing!

The lymphatic system is responsible for collecting, transporting to the blood, and eliminating the waste our cells produce,”  “If the lymphatic system is congested, it can lead to a build-up of toxins, causing inflammation and illness. Dry brushing stimulates the lymphatic system as it stimulates and invigorates the skin.”

How do dry brush? Start at your feet and brush upward towards the heart. Use firm, small strokes upwards, or work in a circular motion. For the stomach, work in a counterclockwise pattern. Harsh exfoliation is never the point; be sure not to press too hard, or use too-stiff of a brush. “Any kind of brushing or exfoliation should be gentle and should never break the skin.”

5.Stress

Stress is one of the worst thyroid offenders, as your thyroid function is intimately tied to your adrenal function, which in turn is intimately affected by how you handle stress.

Many of us are under chronic stress, which results in increased adrenalin and cortisol levels, and elevated cortisol has a negative impact on thyroid function. Thyroid hormone levels drop during stress, while you actually need more thyroid hormones during stressful times.

When stress becomes chronic, the flood of stress chemicals (adrenalin and cortisol) produced by your adrenal glands interferes with thyroid hormones and can contribute to obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, unstable blood sugar, and more. A prolonged stress response can lead to adrenal exhaustion (also known as adrenal fatigue), which is often found alongside thyroid disease

6. Rule out other causes of your symptoms

  • Iron imbalance
  • Blood sugar imbalances
  • Nutrient deficiencies
  • Selenium deficiency
  • Vitamin D deficiency

The most important thyroid nutrients and their doses (for adults) are zinc (30 mg/day), selenium (200 mcg/day), iodine (150 mcg), and iron (18 mg). The uber-cool thyroid pharmacist Izabella Wentz also suggests that low thiamine (vitamin B1) may be an issue for Hashimoto’s sufferers, and that supplementing this nutrient may be helpful and a th B-complex.

7. Detox!

8. Avoid Tuna, mackerel (King), marlin, orange roughy, shark, swordfish, and tilefish which are the highest in mercury.  Heavy metals can bind to your thyroid and thyroid hormone receptors, and interfere with thyroid function.

9. I learned the hard way that not everyone does well on NDT, some do better on synthetics, especially when they have Hashi’s. The similarity of pig thyroid to human thyroid can encourage lymphocyte attacks on the thyroid gland.

I don’t know where to start.”

My goal in this book is to help you understand and show you have easy it is for you to start cutting out the foods that don’t nourish your body. It is my immense pleasure to write another book on hypothyroidism. In this age of overly processed, genetically modified, artificially flavored and preservative loaded foods. tips4

Hi, Everyone! How are you? I wanted to write this blog and try to connect with all of you.We all get super busy in this thing called life. Sometimes we lose a little piece of ourselves traveling back in fourth. Most 30 day challenges require you to purchase a supplements, work out attire, a book or other items in order to be a part of it. Trying a new idea each day isn’t that difficult.Allow this list to help you open up your mind to new possibilities and a new way of being. I’ve tried everything and this list seems to work for me. tips1

Each day people will offer you advice and their opinions but what you need to know is they can only understand from the paths that they have walked and their experiences up until that moment. This doesn’t make it wrong but you have to listen with open ears. Life is not a singular vision!
Try to seek a room full of “different” minded people, for no one grows when they sit in a room full of “like” minded ones! Most people have crippled themselves by their own limitations and try to impose that view on you. You will find that people are often unreasonable, irrational and self centered.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyways. Give the best you have, and it may never be enough but give your best anyways. What  you may spend years creating others could destroy it overnight. keep in mind, it has always been between you and GOD. It was never between you and them anyways.

  • Do not undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others.
  •

Be more concerned with  your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

  •

You have to be a independent thinker. Think for yourself. It’s okay to listen to other peoples wisdom but keep in mind they are limited from their own experiences. You have to form your own opinions and ideals. This is a trait of a leader.

  •

Question everything! Some people are very persuasive and have the uncanny ability to have you leaning toward their way of thinking.

  •

Keep Integrity. Having a good strong quality of being honest along with having strong moral principles.

  •

You are valuable. Value yourself enough to walk away from a bad situation, value yourself enough to walk away from a person who doesn’t love you the same.

  •

Respect  your body. Move your body and feed it good nourishment. What you put in to it and how you treat it will come back to you.

  •

You are enough! There is only one you and you are very unique and wonderful. Embellish who you are.

  •

Spend less than you earn. If you can’t pay cash for it then you don’t need it unless its a house or a car.

  •

Don’t seek happiness through drugs, alcohol, sex and fake friends.

  •

Life is short. Find what brings you joy in life. Make the most of your life by doing what you love and give it all  you got.

  •

    Believe anything is possible.

  • .You are the creator of possibility in your life so, follow your dreams.
  •

    Kindness goes a long way.

  •

You will fall. It’s how you get up that counts. Never give up.

  •

No matter what happens good or bad life is about moving forward.

  •

    The world owes you nothing.

  •

Hold fast to the adventure that life has to bring.

  •

Being grateful will open your eyes and unlock many things in your life.

  •

Don’t follow the crowd and never be afraid to be different and do what is right.

  •

Don’t give your emotional power to someone else. Don’t let another steal your joy.

  • . Time is Precious. Be mindful of how you spend it. Where you spend it. Who you spend it with and how you waste it.  It is one of the greatest gifts bestowed upon us and the greatest gift we can give another person.
  •

Don’t ever go with the flow , be the flow.

  •

Close your mouth and open your ears Better to listen, learn and hear.

  •

Try to always be nice to others. You never know what kind of day they’re having. A smile is always a free thing to bestow upon another person.

  •  Always speak words of good to yourself. Never speak negative or bad about yourself because your mind is listening.
  •

Remember when you get married , your marrying not on that person but the entire family.

  •

Enjoy every day as a gift and never let loved ones in doubt of how much they mean to you.

  •

Not everyone you meet will like you. Who cares they weren’t your cup of tea anyways.

  •

Try to be  humble, kind, and confident in who you are.

  •

    Take no shit.

  •

Never tell people about your lifestyle. There are certain details about your personality such as; your sex life, religious life, overcoming a bad habit, pretty much anything that might concern the world. People will hold things against you or use it against you. Sometimes its just  not worth the emotional stress to tell people your business.

  •

Never air out your family’s dirty laundry for the world to see. People will gossip and twist things you say. It really disrespectful and not to smart to let others know the conflicts that are within your family. It also devalues you, your family. The stories that you tell  are usually passed on by the people you told to some other friends of theirs and this can make the issue worse if it gets back to the person in your family that you were talking about. If you have issues in your household  its best to resolve them at home.

32 “Not Eggs Again” Recipes! Breakfast Idea’s That Are Healthy and Don’t Include EGGS.

badegg2

One of the most difficult things about transitioning to a healthier lifestyle is the diet.

I’ve never been a big breakfast fan. I wake up, meditate for a few minutes, then grab some herbal bullet proof tea but breakfast gets your metabolism buzzing and will help keep you focused and energized throughout your day.

Not eating breakfast can make your body left feeling fatigued, added weight gain, skin problems and cause you to have a low metabolism.

“Your body needs to be rebooted. You’ve got to “jump-start” that metabolism. Eating a healthy breakfast has been medically proven to have many health benefits, including weight control , reducing the risk of obesity , it certainly will boost your fiber intake to help you reach your daily goal of 20 to 35 grams (for adults). Eating breakfast has been shown to improve performance, have heart health advantages, helps you avoid fluctuating glucose levels, which can lead to diabetes later in life, helps you consume less calories throughout the day, so you’re not binge eating of starvation at lunch time. It will give you that mental edge by enhancing your memory, your clarity, and the speed in which you are processing information, your reasoning skills, your creativity and how you absorb information. Scientists at the University of Milan in Italy reviewed 15 studies and found some evidence that those benefits. One theory suggested that if you eat a healthy breakfast it can reduce hunger throughout the day, and help you make better food choices at other meals. You should eat no later than 2 hours of waking up. Also, if you skip breakfast your hunger hormones are boosted and it can also throw your body into survival mode. Which in return starts breaking down protein in your muscles and your muscles will slowly start to break down. “

Did you know that your pituitary gland controls metabolism, mood, and many other organ functions, and it’s either weakened by toxins or fueled by nutrients each time you eat, starting with breakfast – again makes this the most important meal of the day.

Your breakfast  should be a powerhouse for metabolic function and it needs to be full of healthy essential fats that burst with nutrition.

All of the egg-haters shall  unite in victory. I want you to believe in breakfast again so I’ve searched and found many awesome, healthy, eggless options that are filling. Who needs to eat the same boring thing every single day? The best way to ensure you’re getting enough of all the vitamins and minerals that your body needs to function optimally is mixing  things up and eating a variety of foods .

Yes-Eggs are high in protein but you can also get what your body needs from plant-based proteins and other food sources. Let’s be inspired together. I think its wonderfully fantastic that you are taking charge of your health and nutritional needs. Honestly, its the little things that count like cutting out sugar, adding more plant based foods, and exercising .The wisdom your gathering today will make a positive change your life for tomorrow.

Don’t go into the doctors office saying your gaining weight and you can’t figure it out knowing you had that diet coke & twinkie for breakfast!

Here is your check list!

1.Are you eating to cater to your bodies needs? For example: if you hypothyroidism, are  you eating to cater to that? ( click on this link to read more on hypothyroidism)

2. Are you on medications that make you gain weight? If you don’t know, research the medications and then consult with your doctor to see what can be done to help you shed those lbs.Maybe change your medications?

3. Do you have a underlying health condition that has a history of weight gain in patients? If so, research on how other people have successfully lost weight with that medical condition, join a support group if need be to get idea’s and tips and extra support.

4. Have you taken antibiotics?   Did you know that it has been proven by scientist that it can take up to a year to fix your gut flora after taken antibiotics. ( click on this link to read more on this)

5.Did you know artificial sweeteners will stale or mess up your gut flora, causing a inflammatory response and your body will become resistant to weight loss. Read labels. Avoid all those fake sugars. No diet diet drinks, processed food or artificial anything!   if its made in a lab, avoid it.

6. Are you drinking plenty of water? Not drinking enough water or being dehydrated will halt your weight loss. Take your weight divide by two and that is how many ounces you should be drinking each day.   Here is a simple yet effective flavored water drink of mine.

Water Boosts Metabolism

Lots of people don’t realize the true importance of drinking enough water everyday and how it can impact both your health and your weight loss efforts. “Water’s involved in every type of cellular process in your body, and when you’re dehydrated, they all run less efficiently — and that includes your metabolism. Think of it like your car: if you have enough oil and gas, it will run more efficiently. It’s the same with your body.”

Your metabolism is basically a series of chemical reactions that take place in your body,” says Trent Nessler, PT, DPT, MPT, managing director of Baptist Sports Medicine in Nashville. “Staying hydrated keeps those chemical reactions moving smoothly.” Being even 1% dehydrated can cause a significant drop in metabolism

Aim for at least 100 ounces a day – especially in the first couple of weeks until your body adjusts.

9.Do you have chronic candida?

Click on this link to see if you chronic candida and what you can do to fix it.

10.Do you have parasites?

When we have any of the GI infections listed above (parasite, bacteria, fungal), damage has been (and is being) done to our gut lining. This means that we aren’t able to digest and absorb the nutrients from our food, and this negatively affects our tissues and organs. This is why we may likely experience symptoms in other body systems that do not appear to be directly related to the gut.
In terms of weight gain or inability to lose weight, we must remember the cortisol connection. When we have a chronic GI infection, this triggers inflammation and therefore sends the message to our body that we need more cortisol, a primary anti-inflammatory hormone. Cortisol is also a sort of fat storage hormone, so when we are over-producing it, our body holds onto weight (particularly around the mid section). Click on this link to read more on it.
11.The Chemical romance that we call food.

12. Did  you know that it takes 26 seconds for the chemicals in personal body care products to enter into your bloodstream? Endocrine disruptors are tricky chemicals that play on our bodies. They increase production of certain hormones; decreasing production of others; imitating hormones; turning one hormone into another; interfering with hormone signaling; telling cells to die prematurely; competing with essential nutrients; binding to essential hormones; accumulating in organs that produce hormones.  You can start avoiding these chemicals by starting with detoxifying your beauty routine. If you want to protect your body from the harmful ingredients that are used in most commercial brands, you should check out organic skin care products and organic make-up. Start reading labels and asking questions.  Click on this link to read more on

21 Successful Tips on Clean Beauty Swaps

13. Do  you food allergies? Many people have food sensitives continue to eat these foods that causes a leaky gut, candida and ph imbalances. Gluten, dairy, soy, eggs and processed foods are just to name a few.

14. Do you have adrenal fatigue? The adrenal fatigue put my body in a battle and my cortisol levels were out of this world! Cortisol add fat around my mid-section. So, the harder I exercised, the more “cortisol”-fat added to my stomach.

15.Do you have a leaky gut? Then let’s mention the leaky gut. My gut played a vital role in my autoimmunity. Most often undiagnosed.

16. Do you have Metabolic syndrome?

17. Replace Canola oil or other vegetable oils with coconut oil and grass fed butter because those other oils will slow down your weight loss and they will start to store unwanted body fat. Those genetically modified hydrogenated oils will cause inflammation in your body, along with cellular toxicity.

18. NO SOY products or NO GLUTEN products

19. Take THYROID-Boosting vitamins!

Theses  Thyroid ESSENTIAL NUTRIENTS: Provides an excellent source of any of these  thyroid-boosting nutrients:

    • Selenium
    • Zinc
    • Copper
    • Iron

20. FREE your home and body of HORMONES, PESTICIDES & TOXINS: These things are  thyroid endocrine-disrupting toxins that are found in our conventional food supply along with body products and household chemicals.  This means NO BPA, PCBs, dioxins, rBST, PFCs, pesticides, antibiotics, artificial sweeteners, heavy metals, PFOA, chlorine, fluoride, harmful additives or preservatives.

21. No farm raised fish!

  • Farmed salmon contain 10 times more carcinogenic toxins (PCBs, dioxin, etc.) than wild salmon, according to a study published in the journal Science.
  • Eating more than one meal of farmed salmon per month contains enough PCBs to raise cancer risk.
  • Farmed fish are administered more antibiotics by weight than any other livestock.
  • Seven out of 10 pieces of farmed fish tested had concentrations of cancer-causing PCBs high enough to trigger health warnings from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
22. Stop weighing yourself everyday
Weight loss is a process.  If you continue to jump on that scale every day, you will notice higher weight days and lower weight days. If your exercising and gaining muscle you still could be losing fat and the scales are just not showing it. Go with how your clothes feels.  Try taking pictures where you can look at the process.
23. Stop eating all those carbs!
People have food allergies and just don’t know it but others are more sensitive to carbs.
Keep a food journal. Write down what you eat, how many carbs and calories your consuming.   You may need to start under  50 grams of carbs per day and try to temporary eliminate fruits.  After you go under  50 grams per day if that’s not working for you then try 20 grams but let that only be temporary. Just to see if it works. Make sure your eating healthy organic proteins,  healthy fats and leafy green vegetables . Avoid raw cruciferous veggies
such as cabbage, kale, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and cauliflower contain natural chemicals called goitrogens (goiter producers) that can interfere with thyroid hormone synthesis.
24.  Are you stressed out?
it’s sad that sometimes it isn’t always enough to just eat healthy and exercise.  We need to make sure that our bodies are functioning optimally and that our hormonal environment is favorable.  Being stressed all the time keeps the body in a constant state of “fight or flight” – with elevated levels of stress hormones like cortisol.  This cortisol is stored around your midsection too.  This elevated cortisol levels will  increase your hunger and cravings for unhealthy foods.  All this chronic stress will  have a negative effect on your hormonal environment and in return make you hungrier and hault your weight loss goals.
25. Stop eating crap!
You must throw away all that processed crap and start eating real, nutritious foods.  You need to be eating healthy fats, organic proteins and low carb veggies. We want to get your body into a optimal hormonal environment to fat burning mode.
26. Are you getting enough sleep?
Sleep is so important to our heart health and our waist lines. Studies have shown that a lack of sleep correlates with weight gain and obesity.  Not getting enough sleep can make us feel hungrier too. Along with feeling tired and less motivated to exercise.   Sleep is one of the pillars of health.
27. That diet drink is NOT your friend.
Artificial sweetener are so bad for us and it makes us fat! It can also make us hungry. Avoid any artificial sweetener at all costs.
28. You need to move it or loss it
The right kinds of exercise will improve your bodies hormonal state, increase your muscle mass and boost  your serotonin levels with make you feel good. Exercise is important for both your physical and mental health
29. Keep a food journal.
You really need to keep a food journal of everything you stick in your mouth, on your body and chemicals you come in contact with.  Write down how many carbs & calories your consuming too. You could be eating to many calories.   Losing 1-2 pounds per week is a realistic approach. it takes some longer than others to lose the extra weight and we all cant look like fitness models.
Other idea’s to help you in  your journey:

Set Up Your Food Storage, Meal prep, Take out all the bad food in your house, go swimming, work your muscles, join a support group, get some sun, get sleep, reduce stress, Eat soluble fibers,  Eat mostly whole, unprocessed foods & Drink water a half hour before meals.

This has been my secret to my success to my weight loss.
What will yours be?

I added more things like:

 Studies have shown that this lifestyle change will;

  • Cholesterol. This lifestyle change has shown to improve triglyceride levels and cholesterol levels most associated with arterial buildup.
  • Weight Loss. As your body is burning fat as the main source of energy, you will essentially be using your fat stores as an energy source while in a fasting state.
  • Blood Sugar. Many studies show the decrease of LDL cholesterol over time and have shown to eliminate ailments such as type 2 diabetes.
  • Energy. By giving your body a better and more reliable energy source, you will feel more energized during the day. Fats are shown to be the most effective molecule to burn as fuel.
  • Hunger. Fat is naturally more satisfying and ends up leaving us in a satiated (“full”) state for longer.
  • Acne. Recent studies have shown a drop in acne lesions and skin inflammation over 12 weeks.

1/4 cup sliced cucumber
1/2 tomato sliced
1 ounce goat cheese

6 ounces organic meat
1 serving sautéed zucchini
1 serving sautéed sweet potatoe

or you can make a casserole dish, something in the crock pot

Stuffed Cabbage Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1½ lbs green cabbage
  • 13 lb butter
  • 1 lb grass fed ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons tex-mex seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • 23 lb shredded cheese, preferably cheddar cheese
  • 13 lb leafy greens or lettuce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Shred the cabbage finely with a sharp knife or in a food processor.
  2. Fry the cabbage in 3 ounces of butter in a large frying pan or a wok on medium-high heat. Fry until soft, but don’t let the cabbage turn brown. This can take a little while; roughly 10 minutes.
  3. Add spices and vinegar. Stir and continue to fry for a couple of minutes. Set aside on a plate.
  4. Melt the rest of the butter in the same pan. Sauté the ground beef and fry on medium-high heat until most of the juices have evaporated. Lower the heat to medium-low.
  5. Add cooked cabbage and sauté together with the beef for a minute. Remove from heat and add salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Stir ⅔ of the cheese into the cabbage mix and place in a baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top and bake for 15–20 minutes or until the cheese browns nicely.
  8. Serve with a green salad.

Cajun Salmon Patties

1 Can Pink salmon, boneless & skinless
2 Tbsp Coconut Paleo Mayonnaise
1 Large Egg, beaten
2 Tsp Lemon juice
1 Tbsp Parsley, dried
1/4 Tsp Garlic powder
2 Tbsp Green onions, chopped
1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning
1. Drain and flake your salmon in a colander. Transfer the contents to a large mixing bowl, and combine with mayonnaise and an egg to help your recipe bind together.
2.Mix in garlic powder, chopped green onion, and squeeze in 2 teaspoons of lemon juice.
3.Mix in parsley for added flavor and texture.
4.Once all ingredients have been incorporated, it’s time to make the patties with your hands. To keep your patties from sticking to your hands, keep a small bowl of water and damp your hands while you form the patties.
5.Once your patties are ready to go, spray a skillet with coconut oil non-stick cooking spray and bring it to medium heat. Place your patties, and cook both sides until they’re lightly browned and heated through.

Coconut Paleo Mayonnaise

  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp mustard (this is optional)
  • 3 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  1. In a medium bowl (blender, food processor) mix the yolks, mustard, if using, and 1 tsp lemon juice.
  2. Start whisking vigorously (blender or food processor on low) while dripping the oil very slowly, even drop by drop in the beginning. You’re creating an emulsion and if you put too much oil at once, it will separate and will be very hard to save. Whisk non-stop and use a towel under the bowl to help stabilize it.
  3. As you add more oil, the emulsion will form and the mayonnaise will start to thicken and you can pour the oil faster at this point.
  4. When all the oil is incorporated and the mayonnaise is thick, whisk in the rest of the lemon juice and taste your creation. You can season to taste with salt and pepper.
  5. Enjoy without guilt and keep the leftovers in the refrigerator!

I Hope You Like it old School Cause I ain’t Playing With this Hypothyroidism No More.

12968093_10209143914333752_7503512854962499329_oThis hypothyroidism is no joke. People play with it all the time. But why? It completely fucks with your life. Sorry to be so blunt but it does. Why is that?

See we have to understand is when  your thyroid isn’t working properly it can wreck havoc on your life. Your thyroid is responsible for so many things. It regulates  your metabolism, makes energy, adjusts your mood, helps you sleep, even helps aid in good digestion but your see this is where you come into play. Like anything else in life you get back what you give. Start today following my tips and you will start healing your thyroid naturally.

Your body is an awesome design but there is a complex balance between everything. It’s like a domino. One thing in your  body that is overworked   can cause a major shift in how things operate. Sometimes we have to do a little pruning of the branches, in order for the tree to be healthy again. There is not one size fits all.

I know, there is a information overload and most people are confused as to where to start.

One of the biggest issues is that many patients are being under treated or under dosed.

Not all medications are created equal. Trust and believe that! Also, medications can interact with other medications or interfere with how your body works.  Sort of like help one thing but hinder another.

So much of our lives revolve around food. Its a staple everywhere from ads on social media to mouth watering  commercials  on television. I am a major foodie to the point where all of my books are about food! I blog about food all the time. Food is certainly a social lubricant at meetings, family gatherings,  award dinners, and basically every function you must attend but loathe with every being of your fiber. Food understands our emotions in ways no words will never. It certainly makes it easier to bear and a lot less painful with the understanding  that something tasty might be at that gathering that you are dragging yourself to attend.   It’s all fun and games until we step on that scale , we can’t button our pants or our skin starts to break out with acne like we are hormonal teenagers . What we eat should be fun, healthy, healing, sometimes funky and always fresh.

A least less talked about area that people seem to ignore is starting to become more widely recognized. It’s food sensitivities. Most of the time these sensitivities seem to be more of a annoyance and not an immediate and/or severe allergic reaction. Therefore more people with food sensitivities are willing to annoy it, never look into their symptom’s without realizing that it can actually be disastrous to their health. More doctors, mainstream media journals and clinical practices are starting to realize how if they can start to identify and remove the  food sensitivities it can and will improve the  overall health and well-being of a individual. Thus, leading to a much better quality of life.
200088_1961135186835_5269736_n

A food sensitivity has a  delayed allergic reaction. Food sensitivities trigger the delayed antibody response after being consumed.  For example, there are four different antibodies involved in a delayed reaction. IgG, IgA, IgM, and IgD — each of which can have a different and significant effect on our immune system.

Sometimes the delayed response can take up to three weeks before symptoms may appear. This makes it very hard to pin point which food, pollen, or substance is the cause of your symptoms! Some of the more common health concerns that can be triggered by a food sensitivity are:

  • Digestive disorders (gas, bloating, cramping, diarrhea, nausea)
  • Migraines
  • Weight gain
  • Mood/Attention disorder (anxiety, depression, irritability, hyperactivity, lack of concentration)
  • Joint pain/muscle stiffness
  • Skin conditions (itching, redness, swelling, eczema, rashes)
  • Lung conditions (Asthma, Bronchitis)
  • Loss of memory
  • Fatigue
  • General malaise

Americans are in such a pathetic health crisis. We have the abundance of everything at our finger tips but yet we 1 in 3 people are on some sort of medication. It doesn’t matter if it’s Prescribed or over the counter. Meanwhile, there are people around the world who are in better health than the average American and they don’t have to be on some sort of medication but yet they seem to be in  their correct body mass index. New York Times best-selling author and Blue Zones Founder  Dan Buettner has written a book called: The Blue Zone Solution in his book he speaks about how people in these blue zones are living to be over 100 years old.  We are in such a state of denial.

Look at it another way. When is the last time that you seen a  Azodicarbonamide grazing in a field or  Sodium benzoate being grown in a garden?

  • Artificial Sweeteners. …
  • High Fructose Corn Syrup. …
  • Monosodium Glutamate (MSG / E621) …
  • Trans Fat. …
  • Common Food Dyes. …
  • Sodium Sulfite (E221) …
  • Sodium Nitrate/Sodium Nitrite. …
  • BHA And BHT (E320)

Many different underlying reasons can play a role. We do know that hypothyroidism is a chronic condition of an underactive thyroid and affects millions of Americans.

Hypothyroidism means what exactly?

Hypothyroidism means your thyroid is not making enough thyroid hormone. Your thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland in the front of your throat. It makes the hormones that control the way your body uses energy. Basically, our thyroid hormone tells all the cells in our bodies how busy they should be. Our bodies will go into overdrive with too much thyroid hormone (hyperthyroidism) and our bodies slow down with too little thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism). The most common causes of hypothyroidism worldwide is dietary and environmental. The most common cause of hypothyroidism is dietary and environmental! What does that mean exactly? That means you need to be eat to cater to your thyroid and stop using all these harmful chemicals to clean your home with and put on your body! It’s not hard. Yes, a little adjustment will be needed but isn’t everything we do in life for the better of our health worth a little inconvenience until it becomes a habit?

“You must realize that the thyroid has a relationship with all the hormones. It’s a very complex balance and there is no straight forward treatment of just treating your thyroid alone. 1st you must make sure your adrenal glands are in total support. Adrenal fatigue is a very common amongst people with hypothyroidism.  Next you have to get your cortisol levels stabilized. Having hypothyroidism your cortisol levels are already above average. Next finding the right medication for you. Everyone is different it isn’t an easy one size fits all task.”

So this bullshit is up to you!

Start following my plan & listen to your body!!

3006_1163540167458_5209095_n

You have to start removing the thyroid suppressive foods that are in your diet and instead focus on the right foods that stimulate your thyroid to produce an abundant amount of thyroid hormone to keep your cells happy and healthy. When you eat foods full of thyroid suppressive toxins its just like throwing fuel on the fire. This will only continue to drain you of your energy, continue to make your symptoms worse, promote even more inflammation in  your body, contribute to a leaky gut and further damage your thyroid.

Listen to me when I say  there’s a major disconnect between what YOU believe to be healthy foods and what research tells us is healthy. In fact, many of the health foods today that people go out of their way to eat daily are extremely thyroid suppressive.

It seems that the  testing for thyroid is a dead end road at times  with the test appearing to be normal but you has all the symptoms. Get this, your blood work can look just fine but there is major resistance at the receptor site. Most practitioners are unfamiliar with natural treatments for the thyroid and the meds they give sometimes just don’t work. Some  doctors just don’t have a lot of experience with alternative treatments. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. This is where you come into play. You have to take control of  your health! Your gut’s ability to digest and absorb critical nutrients is very important for proper thyroid hormone health.

I am telling you to not fucking listen to what they are saying… Do your own research… learn how to read test results and become your own health advocate!! No body else will do it for you but you…

disclaimer:::::::::::::::: Bitches::::::::::::::::::: Listen::::::::::::::::  I am here to help & educate. I am not a medical doctor nor  your personal guru specialist. …. You’ve got to do this!

A full thyroid panel for hypothyroidism should at least include these 7 key thyroid lab tests:

How Is Hypothyroidism Diagnosed?

If you have symptoms of hypothyroidism, your doctor will order blood tests to check hormone levels. Lower-than-normal T4 levels usually mean you have hypothyroidism.
However, some people may have increased TSH levels while having normal T4 levels. This is called subclinical (mild) hypothyroidism. It is believed to be an early stage of hypothyroidism. If your test results or physical exam of the thyroid are abnormal, your doctor may order a thyroid ultrasound, or thyroid scan, to check for nodules or inflammation.
