Inflammatory symptoms exist on a spectrum with varying degrees of severity. Broadly speaking, there are two main types of inflammation. Short-term, localized inflammation is generally beneficial to the body and happens when there is an acute problem, such as a splinter or cut. Chronic, high-level inflammation can become a problem as the body is not designed to handle it in the long-term. This can happen when you have an autoimmune disorder, which causes your body’s immune system to attack its own tissue.
Understanding how inflammation is supposed to work allows us to not only pinpoint our unique inflammatory triggers, but also to address problematic inflammation before it develops into a potentially chronic condition. There are many signs that indicate when inflammation is starting to get problematic, such as:

– Mood swings
– Constant anxiety
– Gut or digestive issues
– Trouble sleeping
– Difficulty losing weight
– Brittle hair and nails

The symptoms that come along with chronic inflammation can depreciate your quality of life, but can also lead to further health complications like heart disease, arthritis, or infection.
