There is a war raging against humanity and our earth. We have been passively indoctrinated and so utterly pre-programmed that we do not ask the questions that need to ask. We have laid our trust completely in those in power or someone with a title behind their name. People conditioned blindly believing in things simply because enough people assured us it was true. Infectious diseases have been irradiated but chronic diseases are the new black plague of our modern time. This book is profoundly personal as it represents a mission brimming with meaning. As I reflect on extraordinary truths about our nation’s health history, current, and future, I also offer you wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. We must stop the atrocities if we want to become a healthier nation in the future. We must stop the atrocities if we want the human race to survive. I hope my voice and advocacy will continue to help lead the way and this book will make changes for current and future generations to come. No, I simply do not have all the answers, but I have written plenty in this book to make you start questioning EVERYTHING.
Hey You, Beautiful: Let’s not forget that we are all different. Each one of us are unique and biochemically individually wired and what works for one person may not work for another. We are extremely complex beings and each person should be valued independently. My reason for having a leaky gut, inflammation and an autoimmune disorder might not be the same as your reason. Each day we encounter different things in our home and travels. Every Cell in your body responds to the nutrients you consume, the products you put on your body, the house hold chemicals in the environment and also what you may purchase to clean your home. All of these things have a direct impact on your hormones and in return your hormones have a direct impact on every major system in your body. Life isn’t a 1 size fits all solution. This book should be just one of your resources that is empowering you to try to help make sense of it all. Xoxoxo, A.L. Childers

No one warns you that one day the ordinary world can turn hostile—stores, scents, cleaning aisles, even the air itself—until suddenly the familiar becomes venom and your own mind becomes the weapon.
There are chapters of a woman’s life that arrive quietly—without ceremony, without warning—and yet divide everything into before and after. Mine began not with catastrophe, but with a whisper: a strange new fear clinging to the edges of motherhood, tightening its grip each day until the world itself felt poisonous. I never imagined that the birth of my twins would be the doorway into a labyrinth of fear I could not name. I never imagined that one day I would stand in the grocery store, frozen, pulse racing, unable to step past the cleaning aisle because the scent of chemicals felt like death reaching for my throat. I never imagined that driving past a store could send my heart spiraling into terror or that touching a doorknob could ignite the “what if” machine that would later become the tyrant of my days.
I had always dreamed an ordinary woman’s dream—raise children, build a small business, cook meals, kiss scraped knees, and maybe someday retire with a soft blanket and a warm porch. But life does not always honor our daydreams. Sometimes it rips the ground from beneath our feet. After my twins were born, I began to lose my footing in ways I couldn’t explain. I felt the shift inside me—the tremor, the crack, the slant of the world—as if something in my body had unlatched itself and let madness seep in.
Was I crazy? The question pulsed through me day and night. My thoughts were not my own. They swarmed around me like bees, stinging every quiet moment with panic. What if I die? Who will raise my girls? What if they touched poison? What if I touched poison? What if this kills us? What if? What if? What if?
It felt like falling into a well with no bottom. And the strangest part? I looked “fine.” I functioned. I smiled. I hid the chaos so well that even my closest friends never fully understood the hell I was living inside.
The world would have gladly labeled me crazy if they knew. Some would have treated me like a witch from another century—stoned, burned, or locked in a padded room if society still allowed it. Others would have slapped a diagnosis on me with the ease of signing a receipt. Doctors offered pills like consolation prizes—antidepressants, antipsychotics, “it’s all in your head” medications—without ever asking why my life had collapsed in the first place.
But something in me refused the quick fix. I felt it in my soul that many of these doctors were only placing a bandage on a bullet wound. They treated the symptom, never the woman. They medicated the smoke but never searched for the fire.
It was motherhood that broke me, yes—but it was also motherhood that made me fight.
In those years I lived in constant fight-or-flight. I cleaned homes for work—me, the woman terrified of chemicals, scrubbing strangers’ kitchens while my heart galloped inside my chest. I would flee jobs I loved because a single bottle of cleaner left out in the open could send my body into a spiral. I would quit opportunities. I would abandon dreams. The world became a maze of dangers and I was trapped inside my own skin.
My only relief came in sips of beer or in the rare Xanax a doctor reluctantly prescribed. And still, I wondered—Why is this happening to me? Why now? Why after childbirth? Why after the diagnosis of hypothyroidism? Why after autoimmune symptoms began to bloom beneath my skin like dark flowers? What broke inside me that I cannot seem to mend?
My salvation came in the most unexpected place—research.
I read late into the night, long after the children slept, searching for clues like a detective desperate to solve her own mystery. My hands shook the first time I read Dr. Mercola’s article on the gut–brain connection and the hidden role of streptococcus and autoimmune chaos in psychiatric disorders like OCD.
Could my mind’s unraveling be the echo of something biological—something happening in the gut rather than the soul? Could childbirth, thyroid dysfunction, infections, toxins, inflammation, and our modern chemical-soaked world all collide in ways doctors refused to acknowledge?
And as I looked around—at the poisoned water, the pesticide-bathed food, the polluted air, the chemical-filled shots and medications—I realized something:
Of course women are sick. Of course our immune systems are collapsing. Of course our minds are breaking.
We are living inside a double-edged sword—fed toxins on one side and medicated for the consequences on the other.
The gut, I learned, is not merely a digestive organ. It is a second brain. It makes more serotonin than the brain in your skull. It houses trillions of bacteria that shape mood, thought, hormones, immunity, and survival itself. When the gut breaks, the mind follows. When the gut inflames, the spirit trembles. When the gut leaks, fear leaks with it.
And slowly, painfully, piece by piece—my story began to make sense.
I discovered choline sensitivity. Serotonin deficiencies. Thyroid imbalances. Autoimmune triggers. I learned that the body keeps score in ways far older than language, far deeper than psychology. I learned how chemicals, trauma, hormones, and pregnancy can ignite a wildfire in the brain.
I learned that OCD, for me, wasn’t insanity. It was injury. It was inflammation. It was survival misfiring in the dark.
And perhaps most importantly—I learned that I was not alone.
So I began writing. Books. Recipes. Blogs. Essays. Notes. I wrote because writing was the only way I knew to stitch myself back together. I wrote because the world was too silent about what women endure. I wrote because food became medicine again—bone broth, minerals, fats, herbs, ferments. I wrote because Hippocrates was right: Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.
And now I write this—this sprawling tale of madness and meaning—because someone else out there is quietly falling apart and believing she is the only one.
You are not alone.
Your body is talking. Your fear has roots. Your healing has a beginning.
And this moment—right here, right now— is a moment in time that cannot be erased. Because you lived it. Because I lived it. Because we are here, reading these words together.
Healing begins with awareness. It grows with questioning. It deepens with rewriting the stories we were told about ourselves. It expands with courage. And it becomes real when we stop hiding.
This is my story. This is my offering. This is my moment in time.
And now—maybe—it becomes yours too.

There is nothing like walking in your house on a brisk, fall day surrounded by a warm and spicy scents.
On my quest to heal my hypothyroidism, I found out how toxic and unhealthy store bought candles are and these paraffin and lead-cored wicks aren’t something that I want to be breathing in.
Paraffin: Many candles (especially the cheaper kind) are made from paraffin wax; a petroleum by-product, which has the potential to contain toxins and potential carcinogens which are released into the air when the candle is burned. Some researchers even claim the smoke from some candles contains almost as much icky stuff as cigarette smoke.
Luckily, soy, beeswax, or tallow candles have a much cleaner burn and are non-toxic.
I wanted to create a fall cookbook for those of us suffering from hypothyroidism that makes you feel as if you’re inviting an old friend in for coffee. How to start healing your hypothyroidism from within
I love using wax tarts! Store-bought wax melts and candles bad-for-you ingredients which are in the form of artificial fragrances and colorants and emits toxins into the air that are harmful to health when inhaled. Most are made using paraffin wax. Paraffin wax is bad because it is a petroleum by-product which emits toxins into the air that are harmful to health when inhaled. Other companies might use soy wax. Now this might seem somewhat healthier than the alternative to paraffin wax, but it’s not. Most of soy anything is made using genetically modified soy beans that have been treated with pesticides and herbicides. This will make 12 tarts. ½ c. + 2 tbsp. coconut oil 1 oz. {by weight} beeswax Essential oil{s} of choice Instructions Bring two inches of water to a simmer over medium heat in a small saucepan that you will only use for making nonfood items. Cover the opening of the saucepan with a glass bowl to create a double boiler. Put the coconut oil and beeswax in the glass bowl. Allow to heat, stirring occasionally, until completely melted. Remove from the heat and thoroughly stir in essential oils. Pour into mold and allow to cool until hardened {popping then in the refrigerator expedites this}. To use, Please make sure you are safe and only place one in the proper bowl of a wax warmer and use the warmer as directed by the manufacturer.
The Best Autumn Essential Oil Recipes for Your Diffuser
Spicy Chai: 3 drops cardamom essential oil 2 drops cassia essential oil 2 drops clove essential oil 1 drop ginger essential oil Combine with water (most of my diffusers use around 70 mL, but it can vary, 70 ml = 2.4 oz) in a cold air diffuser.
Spiced Citrus 3 drops wild orange essential oil 2 drops cinnamon bark essential oil 1 drop clove essential oil Combine with water (most of my diffusers use around 70 mL, but it can vary,70 ml = 2.4 oz. ) in a cold air diffuser.
Walk in the Woods 3 drops frankincense essential oil 2 drops white fir essential oil 1 drop cedarwood essential oil
Combine with water (most of my diffusers use around 70 mL, but it can vary, 70 ml = 2.4 oz.) in a cold air diffuser.
Immune Booster: 1 drop rosemary essential oil 1drop clove essential oil 1 drop eucalyptus essential oil 1 drop cinnamon bark essential oil 1 drop wild orange essential oil Combine with water (most of my diffusers use around 70 mL, but it can vary,70 ml = 2.4 oz. ) in a cold air diffuser. Why Cold-Air Diffusers? I prefer using a cold-air diffuser since it allows me to enjoy ALL the benefits of the essential oil–not just the scent. Unlike candle warmers, a cold-air diffuser doesn’t heat the oil, so all the therapeutic benefits of the essential oil remain intact.
( Caution: Make sure you do your research on each product if you have pets in the house. Not all essential oils are pet friendly)
It seems that Essential oils are sold everywhere. There are many great companies to purchase your quality essential oils. What company you decide to buy from , always do some research on the seller. One guideline to consider is buying only USDA certified organic essential oils. I have enjoyed some my essentials oils and have had simply fantastic results when using them properly. Always do your research, start small and listen to your body.
Deodorant and antiperspirants impair the underarm lymph nodes. Aluminum-based compounds are the active ingredients in antiperspirants. Sweating is a necessity in life. There are roughly three million sweat glands pumping out as much as 14 liters/ 3 gallons of water a day. Sweat, as stinky and uncomfortable as it can be at times, is a natural and healthy part of life, helping to cool the body, release toxins and helps to maintain normal body temperatures. Sweat isn’t inherently stinky either. In fact, it’s nearly odorless. The stench comes from bacteria that break down from one of two types of sweat on your skin. Deodorant advertisers have done a pretty neat job of convincing us that we’re disgustingly smelly people who in fact need to be refined and save our stinky selves by their products. We’ve been wonderfully brainwashed into thinking sweating is a bad thing. Sweating from the heat, sweating from exercise, and sweating from stress are all different, chemically speaking. Stress sweat smells the worst. That’s because smelly sweat is only produced by one of the two types of sweat glands called the apocrine glands, which are usually in areas with lots of hair—like our armpits, the groin area, and scalp. The odor is the result of the bacteria that break down the sweat once it’s released onto your skin. Fun fact: While women have more sweat glands than men, men’s sweat glands
produce more sweat. Commercial deodorants are something you truly need to purge out of your life. Aluminum-based antiperspirants may increase the risk for breast cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease & Kidney Disease (Scientists noticed that dialysis patients who had these high aluminum levels were more likely to develop dementia too.)
Mason Jar deordorant
Ingredients
1/2 c. baking soda
1/2 c. arrowroot powder or ½ cup of cornstarch
5 tbsp. unrefined virgin coconut oil
10 drops of grapefruit essential oil or lavender essential oil
You can pick your favorite scent. I like lavender or grapefruit.
Empty deodorant stick or Mason jar
Directions
Mix baking soda and arrowroot together.
Melt your coconut oil in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl.
Mix all ingredients the baking soda and arrowroot powder with the oil, Pour into clean small Mason jar,( or your empty stick container) add your essential oil to the Mason jar or the empty stick container, using a wooden Popsicle stick , give it a good stir to mix everything. Close your the lid. Once you mix that essential oil in the bowl, it can only be used for the purpose of making your deodorant. Everything you’ve used is edible except the essential oils.
