I’ve done all the work for you! All you have to do is cook.

May Peace, Happiness and Prosperity be yours during this holiday season and throughout the New Year.

1.Just Let Go of Perfection-

Moments, things and areas of your  life don’t need to be perfect to be marvelous.

We are all human and we should give ourselves a break.

Practice self compassion- You don’t have to attend every holiday party. If you are tired from working all week or just tired in general. Give yourself a time out. You can’t give your best if you are not feeling your best.

Stop beating yourself up over not being able to do everything- Make list of what is most important and do that. Your home doesn’t have to look like a Kardashian or Martha Stuart remember they have people helping them decorate if not doing the decorating for them. If all you can do is put up a tree, then just put up a tree and be happy.

Take smaller steps to what you want to achieve- its easier to make a goal with small accomplishable tasks and this way you can see the things you have done and be joyful.

This year, focus on what you can do instead of what you can’t. Look for solutions instead of repeatedly dwelling on the issues and stumbling blocks.

Besides I’m over being to be perfect because frankly it’s exhausting.

2.Always Stay Hydrated-

Clean, filtered  water helps to cleanse your body — inside and out. Your kidneys need the water to filter waste from the blood and excrete it into your  urine.  Your bowls need it to help keep things flowing or you can become constipated.

It Boosts Brainpower- According to a new study published in the journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, drinking water when you feel thirsty can help you think and act.

It Helps With Appetite Control and Gut Health- although you might not lose a ton of weight , drinking filtered water instead of empty calorie sodas will certainly make a difference on the scales.

Improves your mood-  Lack of sleep isn’t the only thing that can cause  headaches, irritability and fatigue. Studies suggest that increasing your daily amount of water intake can reduce the duration and intensity of headaches.

Remember:  You should drink small amounts of water slowly over time. Never ever chug a ton of water there is something called water toxicity and people have died from it.  How do you know your getting enough water? Take  your body weight and divide it by 2. This is how many ounces a day your body needs.  For example if you weigh 160 lbs. divide that by 2 and you need 80 ounces of water per day for  your body weight.

3.Avoid late-night Eating-

This may  prompt weight gain because your body changes in the rate at which your metabolism functions during sleeping versus waking hours.

Did you know that your body has a internal body clock that regulates sleep and other cycles based on light and darkness which is  your  natural circadian rhythm.  You have two hormones that follow your bodies natural circadian rhythm, which is  Cortisol and adrenaline. These two hormones start slowing down by 3 p.m., as do your energy levels. Have you ever needed anything to pick you up in the afternoon? It might not just be that bad lunch you ate, it is also these two hormones working too.  You see your body is preparing for the end of the day.  So, your bodies  metabolism is slowing down thus it being harder for your body to break down the food you consume.

4.Get Plenty of Sleep-

“Sleep is the only time you’ve got when you’re not doing other things requiring energy,” says Michael Ormsbee, director of the Institute of Sports Sciences & Medicine at Florida State University. “When you totally shut down almost every other action other than staying alive, the body is primed to work on recovery, cell turnover, improving immune function and repairing and regenerating sore and damaged muscle tissue.”

5.Wash Hands and Surfaces often-

Why does it matter you ask?  Illness-causing bacteria can survive in many places around your kitchen, including your hands, utensils, and cutting boards. Unless you wash your hands, utensils, and surfaces the right way, you could spread bacteria to your food, and your family. Always wash your hands with soap and clean running water for at least 20 seconds.

When Should We Wash Our Hands?

before eating and cooking
after using the bathroom
after cleaning around the house
after touching animals, including family pets
before and after visiting or taking care of any sick friends or relatives
after blowing one’s nose, coughing, or sneezing
after being outside (playing, gardening, walking the dog, etc.)

6.Don’t forget to take your meds regularly, and to pack them if you are traveling.

7.Sip Smartly-

Always try to keep both your calories and your buzz under control. Try to go for simply and clear drinks for instance a single shot of vodka, gin, or rum mixed with club and a squeeze of lime will set you back only about 100 calories.  Champagne or pink Prosecco are both great options. Not only are they low on the calorie chart—around 80 to 120 per glass—but they’re also more likely to be sipped rather than guzzled. Another rule of thumb is 1 alcoholic drink by following the next drink with a glass of water.  This way you stay hydrated and you are not consuming all acholic drinks.

8.Holiday shopping and exercising all in 1-

Not time for exercising? No excuse. You can still get your exercise in by walking in the mall when you are Christmas shopping, taking the stairs instead of the escalator in the mall or even doing squats as  you are brushing you teeth. remember every little bit helps.

9.Don’t eat mindlessly , eat in moderation-

10. Fill your plate with healthy food choices-

load 3/4 of  your plate with healthy leafy greens, and the rest with a protein

11.Eat Before Attending a Party-

If you know they are going to have things that you cannot eat or unhealthy options , its not rude to eat before you go. This way you are full and if you want to nibble you can control your snacking.

12.Offer to bring a Something Healthy-

Again if you know they will have things you can’t eat, its not rude to offer to bring a healthy side dish this way you know there is something there you can eat.

13. Grab a smaller size plate size-
It’s been proven by many diet researchers that people eat what’s put on their plates.  Grab a smaller plate where it wont be so difficult to exercise portion control.  In studies, people ate as much as 56 percent less when they served themselves from a smaller plate size.

14. Don’t’ Deprive Yourself-

Don’t deprive yourself , if you just must have a piece of that dessert  then so  but make it a small one. We certainly don’t want you in the fridge at 2am with fork in your hand.  You’ll enjoy this way more guilt-free and not feeling like you’re missing out.

15.Practice Self Care-

The most important piece of advice for those with autoimmune disorder is to practice self care.

16. Relax and enjoy!
It seems that emotional eating tends to increase over the holidays. Try to incorporate relaxation techniques into your day to help manage stress.  I often try to meditate and take three deep, mindful breaths to help reset my mood.

Instead of jumping in with both feet blazing why not follow these simple tricks to make your life easier. You don’t need to do it all in one day. Approach it gradually. If you can get help from your loved ones then assign a task to everyone where you’re not overwhelmed or bombarded with things that need to be done. Keeping your stress to a minimal is the key. If you only have the energy for a few hours of activity, don’t push yourself, take your time and accomplish those activities as you can. You have to realize what is worth devoting your time and energy to, and try to stay clear of those things that don’t make the list. Of course, you want your house to be fully decorated with a holiday village, outside decorations, and other things but if you only have energy for a tree then only put up that tree. 8 Hypothyroidism Juicing Recipes by 13x’s Hypothyroidism Published Author A.L. Childers

Image result for juicing

I’m allergic to myself, in theory. Being diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and later Hashimoto’s hasn’t been a walk in the park. My entire body is at the mercy of my thyroid from weight loss to extreme fatigue. My body immune system is attacking my thyroid gland – as if it was foreign tissue and my immune systems ultimate goal is to eventually , completely destroy my thyroid gland.

It’s estimated that 27 million Americans have thyroid disease? And that about 13 million of them are undiagnosed? Women are seven times more likely than men to develop thyroid problems, and women over 50 are particularly susceptible to developing hypothyroidism.

Your body is an awesome design but there is a complex balance between everything. It’s like a domino. One thing in your body that is overworked can cause a major shift in how things operate. Sometimes we have to do a little pruning of the branches, in order for the tree to be healthy again. There is not one size fits all.

See when your thyroid isn’t working properly it can wreck havoc on your life. Your thyroid is responsible for so many things. it regulates your metabolism, makes energy, adjusts your mood, helps you sleep, even helps aid in good digestion but your see this is where you come into play. Like anything else in life you get back what you give.

You must understand that your thyroid physiology is very complex and  the treatment along with misdiagnosis is very common with hypothyroidism. Not everyone is the same. What has caused my hypothyroidism might not be what has caused yours.

In most cases, hypothyroidism is caused by a beginning rooted immune system issue. According to Dr. Datis Kharrazian, 90% of people with hypothyroidism have Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune hypothyroid condition, whereby the immune system attacks thyroid tissue. Therefore, to cure thyroid disease, or any autoimmune condition, you have to get to the source of the imbalance; focusing on suppression of symptoms with medication alone is simply barking up the wrong tree.

Living with hypothyroidism isn’t easy. This autoimmune disorder comes with so many frustrating side affects. Did you know that it takes 24 to 72 hours for food to travel through your G.I. tract before you have a bowel movement of what you ate the day before it becomes a byproduct of broken down foods that you consumed in those 24 to 72 hours prior? Your digestion system is a very active process that needs many resources that are used from the body such as blood flow and energy to break down your food.
How many of us actually eat seven fruits and vegetables per day? Juicing is a great way to give your digestive system a break and your body can easily absorb the nutrients being consumed but you will miss out on fiber, you might not lose that extra weight, it does help to reduce bloating, but it also can be dangerous when to much sugar can lead to blood sugar swings. Let’s not forget to mention it can become quite expensive. Don’t get me wrong, I love juicing and I tend to go through phases where I juice everyday for months on end then I switch over to smoothies. When we juice we are left with all the super yummy micronutrients and the natural sugars. Try to remember the 4:1 ratio rule. Add 4x more veggies and only 1 fruit. Doing this will ensure that you will cut down on the excess sugar.
Keep in mind that your body does naturally detox every day especially if your eating whole, healthy ingredients while avoiding processed foods and alcohol. Don’t forget all of these recipes can be made into a smoothie as well if you add some water, coconut water , unsweetened almond milk or canned coconut milk.

While most people can consume goitrogens:

It seems that most of your green juice recipes always have kale, spinach or cruciferous vegetables as part of the ingredient in the drink or somewhere in it. Although its fantastic in fighting cancer and have some wonderful health benefits, people with hypothyroidism have to watch their intake of these raw veggies. They can cause huge problems for us with thyroid conditions. These raw veggies can cause the enlargement of our thyroid gland, interfere with the production of your thyroid hormone and can actually act like anti-thyroid drugs, slowing it down and ultimately your hypothyroidism to worsen. You can replace goitrogens with organic romaine lettuce.
The following foods have goitrogens:
Kale
Spinach (raw spinach interferes with the body’s ability to absorb calcium, too)
Bok Choy
Broccoli
Brussels Sprouts
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Collards
Mustard Greens
Turnips
Red Radishes
Watercress

You can get these vegetables  a few times per week but cook them. Never eat them raw. I Normally cook mind in raw, virgin, unrefined coconut oil, cold pressed extra virgin olive oil or drizzle with avocado oil. All of these would be great for you!

Symptoms of Thyroid Disease:
Weight gain
Fatigue
Loose stools (too much TSH)
Constipation (too little TSH)
Brain fog/difficulty concentrating
Thinning hair and brittle nails
Low body temperature
Depression (20% of people with low thyroid have depression)
Sleep disturbances
Infertility
Light sensitivity
Joint aches

What’s Important for the Thyroid?

  • The body needs to be alkaline
  • Good fats. A low fat or non-fat diet will weaken the immune system and wreak hormonal havoc. The body needs good sources of fat in the diet to regulate the thyroid.
  • Protein. It is required for transporting the thyroid hormone throughout the body to all of the tissues.

Also, learn your body and learn your foods.  For example:  Turmeric has wonderful medicinal properties but Individuals suffering from gallbladder obstruction, certain medications, people who are at high risk of developing kidney stones, Pregnant or lactating women and people with sugar issues shouldn’t include turmeric in their smoothies.

Words for Grown Women

We all have that picture perfect imagine that we want to see when we look in the mirror. For some strange reason we think that our lives would be so much easier, if we could just be “that” size or have “that” job or be married to “that” person. As women, we seem to allow ourselves to be critiqued by the world’s view of our self-image and this can affect our self-esteem.

Life can be exactly what you make it.

This is  your journey.

  1. Love the Skin Your In

You’re the only person in this world that is you. You are unique individuals and that is fantastic. Embrace who you are. You are beautiful. You are worthy. You are enough. Accept yourself and love all your flaws.

  1. Find Your Tribe

You are not everyone’s cup of tea. We need to feel connected, supported and loved. Finding your tribe of friends will allow you to feel accepted, appreciated and understood. Your tribe will also give you the confidence to stop pretending and be yourself. Keep your standards high, feel good in your own skin and be happy. Soon, you will find yourself surrounded by loving people who will encourage and empower you.

  1. Healthy Habits

Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. You can do anything that you set your mind to do. Your new healthy habit can be anything from meditation, eating better or trying out a new exercise. Any decision to improve your overall health will benefit you in the long run. Choose a healthy habit that is easy to start. Remember that your life goals isn’t your healthy habit change but it will get you started in the right direction.  Don’t forget this is all a process. Each day you will become better, stronger and more successful.

  1. Embrace Life

We live in a fast paced superficial world. Where ever you go, there you are. You can’t always control the world around you. Take time to breathe everything in, think about what is going on and let circumstances unfold as they may. Why not allow the universe catch you.

  1. Gather Together

I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family over a nice meal. Social connections help us maintain a sense of belonging. Attending a dinner party is heartwarming and it brings people closer. “People with social support have fewer cardiovascular problems and immune problems, and lower levels of cortisol — a stress hormone,” says Tasha R. Howe, PhD, associate professor of psychology at Humboldt State University.

  1. Volunteering your Time

Volunteering makes a difference in the lives of other people. Studies have shown that people who volunteer and donate their time feel more socially connected. Many people find volunteer work to be helpful with respect to stress reduction, boost your self-confidence and give you a over satisfaction of happiness.  A 2012 study in the journal Health Psychology found that participants who volunteered with some regularity lived longer.

  1. Gratitude

Gratitude means you’re thankful for what you have. You count your blessings by noticing the simple pleasures in life. You also acknowledge everything that you receive. You have learned to live your life as if everything was a miracle, and you are aware of everything that have been given to you. Being thankful changes your mindset from what your life lacks to the abundance that you currently have. One way you can start to practice gratitude daily is by keeping a journal of everything in your life that you are thankful to have. Don’t wait for something good to happen to practice gratitude. Start seeing the good in every situation. This will help you improve you self-image. It’s not what others think about you, it’s what you think about yourself that truly matters.

8.  What others think of You

It’s none of your business what others peoples opinions are of you.  You won’t be everyone’s cup of tea and that is perfectly okay.  You are NOT living your life for them. Be happy with you and your uniqueness. There will always be someone who has something to say or be judgmental.  As long as you like you that is all that matters.

9. There is no such thing as Normal

We are all unique and have our own preferences and beliefs. We were all raised differently there for there is no such thing as being “normal” What is normal for you might be abnormal to another person and that is okay. Just roll with the flow and respect other people’s differences. If it’s something that goes against  your beliefs then continue on your journey without them. This doesn’t mean you have to accept their way of life it just means that its not for you.

10. Trying to fit into the wrong crowd

Face it there will always be someone who thinks your not good enough to be “their” friend.  Congratulation’s they did you a favor! Consider yourself lucky that, that toxic person is not in your life and think of it as the trash taking itself out. You don’t need anyone’s approval to be you.  Why do you want to be accepted by these toxic people anyways?

11. Avoiding idle Gossip

It’s just plain childish to gossip, talk bad about someone and spread rumors. Work on being the best you, be happy and love your life.  Remember Karma does come back around so if you laughed at , made fun of or kicked someone while they are down it does have a way of circling back around.

12. Letting go of the Past

Stop fretting over past mistakes. It is in the past for a reason. Own it, accept that you made a bad decision, learn from it, forgive yourself and move forward

Food is thy medicine, right? Actually, it can work one of two ways. Food can be thy medicine or food can be thy death. This book is a guide that will inform you from the perspective of a women. Look Your Best With These Healthy Alternative Beauty Products That Are Safe To Use With Hypothyroidism

Did you know that it takes 26 seconds for the chemicals to enter into your bloodstream? Most commercial personal care products are full of endocrine disrupting chemicals that wreak havoc on our hormones.  On average women use 9 personal care and cosmetic products per day and this can add up to a mixture up its about 126 different hormone disrupting chemicals and add this to the toxins you’re exposed to each day when you got out into the world.   Over 1000 of these ingredients have already been banned in Europe but not here in the United States where our FDA has only banned 11 of those ingredients in our personal care products.
The real reality is we are damaging our DNA and we are changing our genetic makeup for future generations. There was a study a few years back that said the umbilical cord of an average American baby has over 200 known chemicals in it. Eighty percent of the common chemicals that are used daily in this country, we know almost nothing about. Our children are being born toxic and we have no idea if these toxins are already doing some sort of damage their brains, their immune system, their reproductive system, and any other developing organs.

Are we unknowingly setting ourselves up for failure in the womb, even before birth?
Scientists and researchers are concerned that many of these chemicals may be carcinogenic or wreak havoc with our hormones, our body’s regulating system.
Most products have a warning label that is typed in bold “Keep Out of Reach of Children”. As consumers, we believe that if our children don’t ingest these products they will not be harmed by them. This can be far from the truth. Think about other common methods of exposure are through the skin and our respiratory tract. WE are along with our children are often in contact with the chemical residues housecleaning products do leave behind, by crawling, lying and sitting on the freshly cleaned floor.
Scientists at Norway’s University of Bergen tracked 6,000 people, with an average age of 34 at the time of enrollment in the study, who used the cleaning products over a period of two decades, according to the research published in the American Thoracic Society’s American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.

We are creating a toxic shit storm within our very own bodies. The real reality is we are damaging our DNA and we are changing our genetic makeup for future generations. These chemicals in our body products, our food,  our beverages, the vaccines and the pharmaceuticals create a breeding ground for sickness. Have you heard of gene mutation? It’s when the cells are changed by chemicals they are either damaged, lost or copied. These processed foods that are full of man-made chemicals, fluoridated municipal tap water, genetically modified foods, refined oils, herbicides like roundup, Artificial sweeteners, Vaccines and the yearly flu shot – often contain mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde and MSG, Pharmaceutical medications and a lot of the Pharmaceutical medications are loaded with fluoride, OTC (over-the-counter) medications for colds, allergies, headaches and fever – often contain heavy metal toxins, artificial sweeteners and toxic industrial-based food dyes. Let’s not forget to mention the over use of antibiotics, antacids, aspirin, and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) which completely change the environment in our gut.

It’s not enough to be aware of all the outdoor chemicals that we are exposed to everyday but inside our homes we can have more power and control. We have to be more aware about using chemical cleaners, paints, glues, body lotions, toothpastes, underarm deodorants, hair products and pesticides. Instead start to begin to use products that don’t pollute our very own bodies. We must do our own research, make our own products or be a smarter shopper and start reading labels. I can’t stress this enough. We must take a stand for our health. Stop using commercial products that are laced with unknown and harmful body damaging products.
In my book, AWARENESS HAS MAGIC., you can also find many great recipes for alternative cleaning solutions, body lotions and anything for your house, mind or body.

Here are a few more recipes that you will find in my book AWARENESS HAS MAGIC.

According to a 2014 article in the journal Thyroid by the American Thyroid Association Task Force on Thyroid Hormone Replacement, these changes may include puffiness around the eyes or dry or coarse skin, for example.

The U.S. National Library of Medicine states that hypothyroidism can also cause symptoms like yellowish skin, skin that might seem thick and “doughy” with swelling, or dry or thinning hair. Many people struggle with weight gain, as well.

Homemade Deodorant

3 tbsp. virgin coconut oil
2 tbsp. shea butter
3 tbsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. cornstarch
5 drops essential oil of  your choice

Mix baking soda and arrowroot together. Melt your coconut oil & shea butter in the microwave in a microwave-safe bowl. Mix all ingredients (the baking soda and arrowroot powder) with the oil. Pour into clean small mason jar. Add your essential oil to the mason jar; close with the lid. Give it a good shake to combine the essential oil with the other mixture. By doing it this way, you can still use that bowl to eat with.  Once you mix that essential oil in the bowl, it can only be used for the purpose of making your deodorant. Everything you’ve used is edible except the essential oils. Let cool.

Sleepy time Goats Milk Bath
2 cups of powdered goat’s milk
2 cup of Epsom salt
1 cup of sea salt

Combine the dry ingredients and the lavender essential oil. Store in a closed container. When you are ready to take a bath add 1 cup of dry ingredients. (Kids can use up to 1/2 cup of the mixture). Bathe 3 times weekly, soaking for at least 12 minutes.

Toothpaste

Many popular brands of toothpaste contain a variety of chemicals, including triclosan, as well as thyroid-slowing fluoride, and the hormone-disruptor diethanolamine (DEA).

  • Natural Peppermint Toothpaste1/2 cup coconut oil3 Tablespoons of baking soda15 drops of peppermint food grade essential oilMelt to soften the coconut oil. Mix in other ingredients and stir well. Place your mixture into small glass jar. Allow it to cool completely. When ready to use just dip toothbrush in and scrape small amount onto bristles.

The FDA doesn’t regulate what ingredients go into makeup products or the labels that are placed on them. A lip gloss may be labeled “organic” or “all-natural,” but it could just be a marketing ploy. Manufacturers know that there is a higher demand for natural products these days, so they’ll do anything to convince consumers that what they’re selling is indeed natural. Sometimes these products only contain about 10 percent “natural” ingredients with the rest are those nasty ingredients that are full of toxins – toxins that could be linked to cancer and Alzheimer’s.

16 Natural Ways to Get Rid of Mosquitoes Outdoors

Did you know that a mosquitoes egg can become an adult in less than one week after birth? They also tend to be picky about their victims. Apparently, not everyone is equally as yummy. It seems that mosquitoes find people with type O blood twice as tasty as  people with Type A blood.  I’ve always been a huge fan of chemical-free remedies and those conventional mosquito repellants on the market often irritate the skin are also full of chemicals that are very unhealthy to breath in and are soaked in by your skin within  20 seconds! Those chemically filled “bug sprays” are temporary at best even if they work at all. Mosquitoes are attracted to the carbon dioxide we exhale out of our mouths. So what is a human to do about those pesky outdoor blood sucking,  disease spreading bugs?

The 1st most important thing is Don’t give mosquitoes a nearby place to breed.  Most mosquitoes can’t fly no more than one to three miles, and some mosquitoes such as the Asian tiger mosquito only have a flight range of just 100 yards or so. So these pesky little pests are always looking for a place to land or a place to lay eggs, and water is a very attractive option.

Fun Fact: Females only need to encounter a male mosquito once to mate and can produce eggs up to five times in a summer from that single encounter.

1.“Eliminate stagnate water around the property”

Places to inspect for stagnant water:
Gutters (clogged or uneven that does not quickly eliminate the water)
Corrugated down spout extensions
Planters and pots
Kids toys
Tires
Tarps
Areas around property that puddle after a rain
Open trash cans or buckets
Bird baths
Anything that will hold water after a rain

2.Lemon Joy Dish Detergent
Simply add a few drops onto paper plates in the areas you will be sitting. Mosquitoes become more interested in the lemon freshness, than they are in your BBQ guests.

3.The Mosquito Plants
The Lemon-scented Geranium is also commonly known as the “Mosquito Plant”. This particular member of the Germanium family is known to repel mosquitoes and replace them with a hint of lemon. Have a plant party basil, Lavender, Lemongrass,  Lemon thyme, Mint , Rosemary, marigolds, citronella &  Lemon balm all of these repel mosquito’s too.  These plants contain oil that can be extracted for their pest-repelling effect.

4.Garden Feeder Solution
If you have an old garden feeder lying around along with a few household liquids, you can drive mosquitoes out using this technique.
1/3 stale beer (any kind),
1/3 Epsom salt
1/3 mouth wash (with alcohol)
Put the mixture in your garden feeder and spray down your lawn, bushes, patios and areas that look suspicious for breeding insects. Do this at the beginning of the year and in the middle. This solution could smell a little funny at first, but quickly dissipates, leaving your out door areas mosquito free!

5. Burn  Mosquito Incense

Mosquitoes are not big fans of smoke and hate aromatic smoke even more therefore burn some  citronella, eucalyptus, and even cloves. Look for incense products that are 100% natural such as these from Amazon.

6.Red Cedar Mulch
You can ward off Mosquitoes as well as improve the look of your yard with red cedar mulch or chips. Use the chips as you normally would in the yard and garden areas. Then, make a brew out of the chips by boiling them in water like a tea. Put the liquid in a garden sprayer and spray areas and walk ways wear you can’t place the cedar chips themselves.

7.Attract Natural Predators
It never hurts to welcome birds and other natural predators that’ll feed on the mosquito population. The Purple Martin is one species of bird that’s known as a natural mosquito predator. You can set up birdbaths and feeders to attract these birds species to your backyard. Place Bat Houses around your yard too.  Bats love mosquitoes and the more bats you can attract to your yard, the fewer mosquitoes you will have.

8.Used Coffee Grounds
This method of mosquito repellent attacks the insects at the source. Take used coffee grounds and sprinkle them in standing water where mosquitoes are the most likely to breed. The coffee grounds forces the eggs to the surface and deprive them of oxygen. This in turn will kill the mosquitoes before they ever hatch. This method is also completely safe for the environment.

9.Burn Pinion Wood
You can use a chiminea or other outdoor patio fireplace to burn pinion wood. This pungent species of wood has been known to keep mosquito’s at bay.

10.Fans & Air Circulation
Mosquitoes don’t really like breezes as it can throw off their infrared senses and make it difficult to fly. Sometimes getting rid of a problem is as simple as a cool breeze in Summer.  You can set out a cheap box fan, like the ones we used to put in windows back in the day, also place one on the  corner of the patio, which will makes a slow breeze. Next place a small oscillating fan nearby where its regular back-and-forth movement breaks up the steady stream of air from the box fan. The combination is guaranteed to foil the most persistent biters, as well as provide a nice cool breeze.

11.Get a Portable ThermaCELL
If you need something to protect you from mosquitoes while you are camping or away from home then get a ThermaCELL device. You just need to pop in a fuel cartridge to start repelling mosquitoes.

12.Get a Bug Zapping Device
Use a zapping device, such as the Hoont Mosquito Trap Killer, to attract and kill mosquitoes. Place the stand in an isolated area of the room or backyard where there isn’t much light.

13.Create a Sugar Mixture Trap
Cut the upper portion of a two-liter plastic bottle then fit the inverted top into the lower portion of the bottle. Seal these two pieces together with tape. Next, mix a cup of sugar with a cup of hot water. Make sure the sugar dissolves. Once the sugar solution has cooled down, add two additional cups of water and one tablespoon of dry yeast. Pour the final mixture into the bottle and place it outside so the trap can work its magic.

14.Garlic
Extract of garlic has mosquito larvicidal properties . Crush a few cloves of garlic and boil the crushed garlic in water.
Then pour this homemade mosquito repellent in a spray bottle and squirt it around the room. This remedy will kill the mosquitoes.
Eat garlic daily to avoid mosquito bites. You can also rub a garlic clove directly on the skin

15.Spray yourself with vanilla
Vanilla is a natural mosquito repellent. Add two teaspoons of vanilla to one cup of water and put into a spritz bottle.

16. Homemade Bug Spray Ingredients
30 drops geranium essential oil
30 drops citronella essential oil
20 drops lemon eucalyptus essential oil
20 drops lavender essential oil
10 drops rosemary essential oil
1 TBSP vodka or rubbing alcohol
½ cup natural witch hazel
½ cup water (or vinegar)
1 tsp vegetable glycerin (optional)
Homemade Bug Spray Instructions
Place essential oils in a glass spray bottle. Add vodka or alcohol and shake well to combine.
Pour in witch hazel and shake to combine.
Add ½ tsp vegetable glycerin if using. This is not necessary but helps everything stay combined.
Add water and shake again. Shake before each use as the oils and water will naturally separate some over time.

Vinegar of the Four Thieves Insect Repellent Ingredients
1 32-oz bottle of apple cider vinegar
2 TBSP each of dried sage, rosemary, lavender, thyme, and mint
Quart-size or larger glass jar with airtight lid
Vinegar of the Four Thieves Insect Repellent Instructions
Put the vinegar and dried herbs into large glass jar.
Seal tightly and store on counter or place you will see it daily. Shake well each day for 2-3 weeks.
After 2-3 weeks, strain the herbs out and store in spray bottles or tincture bottles, preferably in fridge.
To use on skin, dilute to half with water in a spray bottle and use as needed.
Use whenever you need serious bug control!
Note: This mixture is very strong and has antiviral and antibacterial properties. It can also be used as a tincture for any illness. For adults, dose is 1 tablespoon in water several times a day. For kids over two, the dose is 1 teaspoon in water several times a day.
