I’ve done all the work for you! All you have to do is cook.

May Peace, Happiness and Prosperity be yours during this holiday season and throughout the New Year.

1.Just Let Go of Perfection-

Moments, things and areas of your  life don’t need to be perfect to be marvelous.

We are all human and we should give ourselves a break.

Practice self compassion- You don’t have to attend every holiday party. If you are tired from working all week or just tired in general. Give yourself a time out. You can’t give your best if you are not feeling your best.

Stop beating yourself up over not being able to do everything- Make list of what is most important and do that. Your home doesn’t have to look like a Kardashian or Martha Stuart remember they have people helping them decorate if not doing the decorating for them. If all you can do is put up a tree, then just put up a tree and be happy.

Take smaller steps to what you want to achieve- its easier to make a goal with small accomplishable tasks and this way you can see the things you have done and be joyful.

This year, focus on what you can do instead of what you can’t. Look for solutions instead of repeatedly dwelling on the issues and stumbling blocks.

Besides I’m over being to be perfect because frankly it’s exhausting.

2.Always Stay Hydrated-

Clean, filtered  water helps to cleanse your body — inside and out. Your kidneys need the water to filter waste from the blood and excrete it into your  urine.  Your bowls need it to help keep things flowing or you can become constipated.

It Boosts Brainpower- According to a new study published in the journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, drinking water when you feel thirsty can help you think and act.

It Helps With Appetite Control and Gut Health- although you might not lose a ton of weight , drinking filtered water instead of empty calorie sodas will certainly make a difference on the scales.

Improves your mood-  Lack of sleep isn’t the only thing that can cause  headaches, irritability and fatigue. Studies suggest that increasing your daily amount of water intake can reduce the duration and intensity of headaches.

Remember:  You should drink small amounts of water slowly over time. Never ever chug a ton of water there is something called water toxicity and people have died from it.  How do you know your getting enough water? Take  your body weight and divide it by 2. This is how many ounces a day your body needs.  For example if you weigh 160 lbs. divide that by 2 and you need 80 ounces of water per day for  your body weight.

3.Avoid late-night Eating-

This may  prompt weight gain because your body changes in the rate at which your metabolism functions during sleeping versus waking hours.

Did you know that your body has a internal body clock that regulates sleep and other cycles based on light and darkness which is  your  natural circadian rhythm.  You have two hormones that follow your bodies natural circadian rhythm, which is  Cortisol and adrenaline. These two hormones start slowing down by 3 p.m., as do your energy levels. Have you ever needed anything to pick you up in the afternoon? It might not just be that bad lunch you ate, it is also these two hormones working too.  You see your body is preparing for the end of the day.  So, your bodies  metabolism is slowing down thus it being harder for your body to break down the food you consume.

4.Get Plenty of Sleep-

“Sleep is the only time you’ve got when you’re not doing other things requiring energy,” says Michael Ormsbee, director of the Institute of Sports Sciences & Medicine at Florida State University. “When you totally shut down almost every other action other than staying alive, the body is primed to work on recovery, cell turnover, improving immune function and repairing and regenerating sore and damaged muscle tissue.”

5.Wash Hands and Surfaces often-

Why does it matter you ask?  Illness-causing bacteria can survive in many places around your kitchen, including your hands, utensils, and cutting boards. Unless you wash your hands, utensils, and surfaces the right way, you could spread bacteria to your food, and your family. Always wash your hands with soap and clean running water for at least 20 seconds.

When Should We Wash Our Hands?

before eating and cooking
after using the bathroom
after cleaning around the house
after touching animals, including family pets
before and after visiting or taking care of any sick friends or relatives
after blowing one’s nose, coughing, or sneezing
after being outside (playing, gardening, walking the dog, etc.)

6.Don’t forget to take your meds regularly, and to pack them if you are traveling.

7.Sip Smartly-

Always try to keep both your calories and your buzz under control. Try to go for simply and clear drinks for instance a single shot of vodka, gin, or rum mixed with club and a squeeze of lime will set you back only about 100 calories.  Champagne or pink Prosecco are both great options. Not only are they low on the calorie chart—around 80 to 120 per glass—but they’re also more likely to be sipped rather than guzzled. Another rule of thumb is 1 alcoholic drink by following the next drink with a glass of water.  This way you stay hydrated and you are not consuming all acholic drinks.

8.Holiday shopping and exercising all in 1-

Not time for exercising? No excuse. You can still get your exercise in by walking in the mall when you are Christmas shopping, taking the stairs instead of the escalator in the mall or even doing squats as  you are brushing you teeth. remember every little bit helps.

9.Don’t eat mindlessly , eat in moderation-

10. Fill your plate with healthy food choices-

load 3/4 of  your plate with healthy leafy greens, and the rest with a protein

11.Eat Before Attending a Party-

If you know they are going to have things that you cannot eat or unhealthy options , its not rude to eat before you go. This way you are full and if you want to nibble you can control your snacking.

12.Offer to bring a Something Healthy-

Again if you know they will have things you can’t eat, its not rude to offer to bring a healthy side dish this way you know there is something there you can eat.

13. Grab a smaller size plate size-
It’s been proven by many diet researchers that people eat what’s put on their plates.  Grab a smaller plate where it wont be so difficult to exercise portion control.  In studies, people ate as much as 56 percent less when they served themselves from a smaller plate size.

14. Don’t’ Deprive Yourself-

Don’t deprive yourself , if you just must have a piece of that dessert  then so  but make it a small one. We certainly don’t want you in the fridge at 2am with fork in your hand.  You’ll enjoy this way more guilt-free and not feeling like you’re missing out.

15.Practice Self Care-

The most important piece of advice for those with autoimmune disorder is to practice self care.

16. Relax and enjoy!
It seems that emotional eating tends to increase over the holidays. Try to incorporate relaxation techniques into your day to help manage stress.  I often try to meditate and take three deep, mindful breaths to help reset my mood.

All too many times when the holidays rolls around we try to do too much, too fast and it certainly comes back to bite us in the butt. Having a chronic illness already gives us day to day challenges. Instead of jumping in with both feet blazing why not follow these simple tricks to make your life easier. You don’t need to do it all in one day. Approach it gradually. If you can get help from your loved ones then assign a task to everyone where you’re not overwhelmed or bombarded with things that need to be done. Keeping your stress to a minimal is the key. Stop expecting so much from yourself. Adjust your expectations and become more realistic of what your current abilities are. It’s not a downfall. It’s life and how it is for you. Don’t look at it like you’re less of a person. Everyone has their own issues and they might be better at hiding them than you. If you only have the energy for a few hours of activity, don’t push yourself, take your time and accomplish those activities as you can. You have to realize what is worth devoting your time and energy to, and try to stay clear of those things that don’t make the list. Of course, you want your house to be fully decorated with a holiday village, outside decorations, and other things but if you only have energy for a tree then only put up that tree. 8 Hypothyroidism Juicing Recipes by 13x’s Hypothyroidism Published Author A.L. Childers

Image result for juicing

I’m allergic to myself, in theory. Being diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and later Hashimoto’s hasn’t been a walk in the park. My entire body is at the mercy of my thyroid from weight loss to extreme fatigue. My body immune system is attacking my thyroid gland – as if it was foreign tissue and my immune systems ultimate goal is to eventually , completely destroy my thyroid gland.

It’s estimated that 27 million Americans have thyroid disease? And that about 13 million of them are undiagnosed? Women are seven times more likely than men to develop thyroid problems, and women over 50 are particularly susceptible to developing hypothyroidism.

Your body is an awesome design but there is a complex balance between everything. It’s like a domino. One thing in your body that is overworked can cause a major shift in how things operate. Sometimes we have to do a little pruning of the branches, in order for the tree to be healthy again. There is not one size fits all.

See when your thyroid isn’t working properly it can wreck havoc on your life. Your thyroid is responsible for so many things. it regulates your metabolism, makes energy, adjusts your mood, helps you sleep, even helps aid in good digestion but your see this is where you come into play. Like anything else in life you get back what you give.

You must understand that your thyroid physiology is very complex and  the treatment along with misdiagnosis is very common with hypothyroidism. Not everyone is the same. What has caused my hypothyroidism might not be what has caused yours.

In most cases, hypothyroidism is caused by a beginning rooted immune system issue. According to Dr. Datis Kharrazian, 90% of people with hypothyroidism have Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune hypothyroid condition, whereby the immune system attacks thyroid tissue. Therefore, to cure thyroid disease, or any autoimmune condition, you have to get to the source of the imbalance; focusing on suppression of symptoms with medication alone is simply barking up the wrong tree.

Living with hypothyroidism isn’t easy. This autoimmune disorder comes with so many frustrating side affects. Did you know that it takes 24 to 72 hours for food to travel through your G.I. tract before you have a bowel movement of what you ate the day before it becomes a byproduct of broken down foods that you consumed in those 24 to 72 hours prior? Your digestion system is a very active process that needs many resources that are used from the body such as blood flow and energy to break down your food.
How many of us actually eat seven fruits and vegetables per day? Juicing is a great way to give your digestive system a break and your body can easily absorb the nutrients being consumed but you will miss out on fiber, you might not lose that extra weight, it does help to reduce bloating, but it also can be dangerous when to much sugar can lead to blood sugar swings. Let’s not forget to mention it can become quite expensive. Don’t get me wrong, I love juicing and I tend to go through phases where I juice everyday for months on end then I switch over to smoothies. When we juice we are left with all the super yummy micronutrients and the natural sugars. Try to remember the 4:1 ratio rule. Add 4x more veggies and only 1 fruit. Doing this will ensure that you will cut down on the excess sugar.
Keep in mind that your body does naturally detox every day especially if your eating whole, healthy ingredients while avoiding processed foods and alcohol. Don’t forget all of these recipes can be made into a smoothie as well if you add some water, coconut water , unsweetened almond milk or canned coconut milk.

While most people can consume goitrogens:

It seems that most of your green juice recipes always have kale, spinach or cruciferous vegetables as part of the ingredient in the drink or somewhere in it. Although its fantastic in fighting cancer and have some wonderful health benefits, people with hypothyroidism have to watch their intake of these raw veggies. They can cause huge problems for us with thyroid conditions. These raw veggies can cause the enlargement of our thyroid gland, interfere with the production of your thyroid hormone and can actually act like anti-thyroid drugs, slowing it down and ultimately your hypothyroidism to worsen. You can replace goitrogens with organic romaine lettuce.
The following foods have goitrogens:
Kale
Spinach (raw spinach interferes with the body’s ability to absorb calcium, too)
Bok Choy
Broccoli
Brussels Sprouts
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Collards
Mustard Greens
Turnips
Red Radishes
Watercress

You can get these vegetables  a few times per week but cook them. Never eat them raw. I Normally cook mind in raw, virgin, unrefined coconut oil, cold pressed extra virgin olive oil or drizzle with avocado oil. All of these would be great for you!

Symptoms of Thyroid Disease:
Weight gain
Fatigue
Loose stools (too much TSH)
Constipation (too little TSH)
Brain fog/difficulty concentrating
Thinning hair and brittle nails
Low body temperature
Depression (20% of people with low thyroid have depression)
Sleep disturbances
Infertility
Light sensitivity
Joint aches

What’s Important for the Thyroid?

  • The body needs to be alkaline
  • Good fats. A low fat or non-fat diet will weaken the immune system and wreak hormonal havoc. The body needs good sources of fat in the diet to regulate the thyroid.
  • Protein. It is required for transporting the thyroid hormone throughout the body to all of the tissues.

Also, learn your body and learn your foods.  For example:  Turmeric has wonderful medicinal properties but Individuals suffering from gallbladder obstruction, certain medications, people who are at high risk of developing kidney stones, Pregnant or lactating women and people with sugar issues shouldn’t include turmeric in their smoothies.

Change your habits, change your life

The Hypothyroidism diet & lifestyle is a long-term health regimen designed not only to help you lose weight but also to enhance your health and energy. Most diets that you’ve tried might have worked for a short time and then you probably gained all of it back plus some. I want you to learn how changing you’re eating habits first and get to the core of your hypothyroidism disorder will benefit you more in the long run. This is a one shoe fits all book. You will have set backs but every road to success is paved with some sort of failures.  I believe that knowledge is power.  Most people don’t understand the connection between diet, disease, medications and environmental toxins.  The main reason why I have been blogging and writing these books on Hypothyroidism is because we are so unaware of our bodies.  No, I don’t have a degree as a medical doctor but anyone can do the research like I have. In the age of technology that we live there is no reason why anyone isn’t informed on any subject that they find interesting.  You are more powerful than you realize. I want you to be moved. My heart will rejoices with you as I see you transcend stronger and become more enlightened on this journey that you were forced into. I have a vision of freedom for better health for humanity. I am leading the way to the road less traveled of infinite possibilities. You inspire me to become greater in myself and truly transformed my life to reach its highest potential.

We need to be kind to ourselves. Give our bodies a fighting chance. If you are constantly feeding your body crap then you are making it susceptible to inflammation, virus’s and disease. I want to help you become successful in your healthy journey by applying the empowering techniques many of my blogs have to offer. This article has been written by a person who has had real struggles with a hypothyroidism but has worked through them. I am going to “keep it real” with you.

5 Things You Can Do to Help Reverse Your Hypothyroidism Disorder That Your Doctor Isn’t Telling You

After being diagnosed with hypothyroidism over 25 years ago. I knew there was something more than just being labeled with a medical condition. There wasn’t a lot of information on how to heal myself from the inside out. You really must begin to understand that there really isn’t a one size fits all diet for everyone who is has been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism but there are certain ways you can eat that will certainly help begin the healing process. Diet alone isn’t enough to help your body start fighting this battle that is raging in your body. The food you eat is your first line of defense against hypothyroidism. You must start addressing other areas in your life.

Around 20 million Americans and 250 million people worldwide will be affected by low thyroid function or hypothyroidism. One in 8 women will struggle with a thyroid problem in her lifetime, and up to 90% of all thyroid problems are autoimmune in nature, the most common of which is Hashimoto’s. Did you know that rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, Celiac disease, and thyroid disease are all classified as a autoimmune disease? Matter of a fact, there are over 80 disease and the list continues to grow that are classified as being caused by autoimmunity. If your autoimmunity isn’t addressed it certainly will become worse and worse over time.

Many people don’t know that hypothyroidism is an autoimmune disease and the reason why most doctors don’t mention is because it’s simple:  it doesn’t affect their treatment plan.  Traditional medicine treats autoimmune disorders with steroids and other methods that suppress the immune system. Why do we settle for harsh treatments on our bodies?

Your underlying question needs to be: Why is my body out of balance and how can I help it regain its balance?

Of course your autoimmune disease didn’t happen overnight and yes you might have  a  genetic predisposition towards autoimmunity but science has proven that even if you have a preexisting genetic predisposition towards autoimmunity ( meaning it was passed down in your genes from your parents) Our genes are ever changing and are not static . Your genes are wonderful, busy little cells that can be both turned on and turned off by your environmental and lifestyle choices.

Isn’t that fantastic? What wonderful news!

You must become your very own investigator.  You need to find the root cause of your  autoimmunity by uncovering these environmental and lifestyle choices that you’ve  made that has turned on these genes. The small steps that we begin with start to make a difference and I discovered that when you begin to address these  five common environmental and lifestyle choices you can start to restore the balance of your immune system and in many change your life completely. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if you could begin to reverse your autoimmune disease, improve your quality of life, restore balance to  your immune system, off your medications and most importantly  become  symptom free.  This may sound like a distant dream but not one that certainly isn’t attainable. You must start to address the root causes of your autoimmune disease.  As someone who has  battled autoimmune disease myself, its important to  know about that I reversed my autoimmune diseases and you can too.

FACT: The number of people suffering from hypothyroidism continues to rise each year. Levothyroxine is the 4th highest selling drug in the U.S.

FACT: Every Cell in your body responds to your thyroid hormones. These hormones have a direct impact on every major system in your body.

Here are the five strategies you should begin doing today.

1. Heal Your Gut
Your gut is your portal to health. It houses 80 percent of your immune system, and without your gut being healthy it is practically impossible to have a healthy immune system.  A leaky gut have been linked to hormonal imbalances, autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and hashimotos thyroiditis, diabetes, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, anxiety, depression, eczema and rosacea, and that is just to name a few. So you can understand why a properly working digestive system ( your gut) is vital to your health.

Contrary to what we use to believe. We now know that having a leaky gut is one of the main reasons, and probably the beginning stage, for developing an autoimmune disease. Having a leaky  gut means that the tight junctions that usually hold the walls of your intestines together have become loose, allowing undigested food particles, microbes, toxins, and more to leave your gut and enter your bloodstream. This will cause your body to become full of inflammation, which in return will start to trigger a autoimmune condition and if you already have a autoimmune condition it will certainly make it worse.

Luckily for you. Your gut is made up of wonderful cells that can turn over very quickly, so you can start to heal your gut in as little as thirty days, by following these 4 R guidelines: Remove, Restore, Replace and Repair

  1. Remove the damage — Remove these inflammatory foods, household & body  chemicals, drink filtered water( to avoid fluoride and chloride) , stop using aluminum brand deodorant, start using fluoride free  brand tooth pastes, start to reduce your stress that damage your gut,  do a detox to heal any gut infections from yeast, parasites, or bacteria.
  2. Restore the Strong — Replenish the enzymes and digestive acids that are necessary for proper digestion
  3. Replace with friendly Bacteria — Make sure you are taking plenty a good strong probiotic that is full of these much needed “good  bacteria” to start supporting your immune system. Here is a great product that I use. You can do your own research and I am sure there are other brands out there that are wonderful too.Garden Of Life Dr. Formulated Probiotics Once Daily Women’s, 30 Count
  4. Repair the digestive Tract  — Give you gut a fighting chance by supplying the nutrients and amino acids needed to build a healthy gut lining. ( Gelatin can improve your ability to produce adequate gastric acid secretions that are needed for proper digestion and nutrient absorption. Glycine from gelatin is important for restoring a healthy mucosal lining in the stomach and facilitating with the balance of digestive enzymes ( Here is a brand that I use    Garden of Life RAW Enzymes Women, 90 Capsules)  and stomach acid.  The best way to consume gelatin make them into broth or soup. You can do this by simply brewing some bone broth at home using this Bone Broth Recipe. If the appeal of drinking broth from dead animal bones doesn’t seem that appealing in-which I personally find the average commercial brand of collagen pretty gross. Most collagen supplements are produced from the bones, skin, and connective tissue of animals, including cattle, fish, horses, pigs, or rabbits. The idea of drinking bones+ connective tissue from dead animals doesn’t appeal to me at all. Even if they say its from “grass-fed animals”. YUCK!I  get my  COLLAGEN that is made from fish the brand I use is a Marine based Collagen and it is sourced from the scales of wild-caught, non-GMO Red Snapper , wild-caught in the Pacific Ocean near Hawaii using sustainable harvesting instead of being sourced from the hides of pasture-raised, grass-fed bovine.

2. Change Your Diet

We are creating a perfect storm within our bodies. The less nutrients we consume, more toxins we add, create this world win of health issues. It’s sad that our western diet is made up of red meats, vegetable oils, white flour and sugar. Who would of thought that something so simple as eating has become so complicated. Food does matter. It talks to your DNA . Food can change your DNA!
The foods you eat have a major impact on autoimmune disease —  It affects your gut health and along with increasing or decreasing the inflammation in your body. Unfortunately, our western world diet are full of foods that have a bad impact on both your gut and your inflammation. Start with eating whole foods that are anti-inflammatory.  For instance, omega-3 wild fish, leafy greens and turmeric. If it was made in a lab , avoid it. Do a little research and you will find that our western diet that is made up of processed, fake foods, chemicals, sugar and corn oils are all highly flaming the fan of your inflammation.  begin to start reading labels. You will soon discover that health foods such as low-fat and gluten-free packaged foods, which are often loaded with sugar, additives, and preservatives. Grains, dairy, legumes, eggs, corn, and soy are not the  cornerstones to a healthy diet anymore they can contribute to a leaky gut and inflammation.  Did you know that Gluten  triggers the release of a chemical called zonulin, which tells the walls of your intestines to open up and by doing so this releases toxins into your bloodstream.

Feed the masses and feed them cheap.

Think about what you’re putting in your body. Either you’re fighting disease or feeding disease. You must get a concept of nutrient density. Many of the foods we tend to eat, block nutrients from being absorbed. Gluten, dairy and soy products create inflammation in the digestive tract. In ancient times grains were prepared by soaking, sprouting and fermenting but that tradition in making them been long forgotten with our fast-paced culture. If you have inflammation in the digestive system undigested proteins leak into the blood stream creating a heightened immune reaction that often makes your thyroid issues worse and can lead to a leaky gut which causes other problems.

3. Reduce Your Toxic Burden

These are commonly found in items like antibacterial soap, deodorant, lotions, and makeup. These things are poisonous. Your skin is the largest organ in the body. Whatever you put on your skin goes into your body. I can’t preach this enough. If you can’t eat it, then don’t apply it to your skin. I understand this might not be 100% doable but every little bit helps your body. Everyday we are exposed to a huge number of chemical toxins without our own doing. It’s in our water,  the pollution in our air,  the insecticides and herbicides that are is sprayed on our food and the chemicals that are spray on our lawns.

Environmental chemicals and toxins, pesticides, BPA, thyroid endocrine disruptors, iodine imbalance, other medications, fluoride, overuse of soy products, cigarette smoking, and gluten intolerance. All of these play a very important role in your thyroid health. A nonprofit group called Beyond Pesticides warns that some 60 percent of pesticides used today have been shown to affect the thyroid gland’s production of T3 and T4 hormones. Commercially available insecticides and fungicides have also been involved. Even dental x-rays have been linked to an increased risk of thyroid disorders.

Did you know that products we use every day may contain toxic chemicals and has been linked to women’s health issues? They are hidden endocrine disruptors and are very tricky chemicals that play havoc on our bodies. “We are all routinely exposed to endocrine disruptors, and this has the potential to significantly harm the health of our youth,” said Renee Sharp, EWG’s director of research. “It’s important to do what we can to avoid them, but at the same time we can’t shop our way out of the problem. We need to have a real chemical policy reform.” The longer the length of ingredients on your food label means how much more unhealthy it is for you to consume. When an item contains a host of ingredients that most likely you cant even pronounce or remember to spell you can bet your lucky dollar that the natural nutrients are long gone. These highly processed frank n foods are very difficult for the body to break down and some of the chemicals will become stored in your body. Click on this link to see what you should avoid.

Pesticides, herbicides, GMOs in our food, fluoride and chlorine and trace pharmaceutical residue in the water supplies, methane, carbon monoxide and industrial pollutants in the air, and the toxic chemicals in our everyday household products.

No wonder our bodies are completely bombarded and overwhelmed with the constant exposed to toxic chemicals through the air that we breathe, the water we drink, the foods we eat, and the personal care products and cleaning products we use.

The Centers of Disease Control found traces of 212 different chemicals in a group of people that they studied over the course of five years, and that’s only the chemicals they tested for! Your body is absorbing all these toxins.

Nobody knows the  effects of all these chemicals has on our bodies and yet thousands of chemicals are in regular use daily. By you having a higher toxic burden it puts a strain on your body and puts you at greater risk of developing an autoimmune disease.

I understand that you can’t live in a bubble but you can start reading labels, you can reduce your the daily toxic burden on your body.

Be mindful of what you eat.

Be mindful of what you put on your body. ( Read labels)

Be mindful of the water you drink. ( Purchase a Berkey Water Filter)

Be mindful of the household chemicals you use in your house .

( Its very easy to make your own products. I have many recipes in my book,

4. Heal Your Body

You have to start addressing what the root cause is of your hypothyroidism. Would you take Motrin if you got a rock stuck in your shoe? Hypothyroidism does has a root issue. We often ignore the underlying cause of hypothyroidism. Sometimes we have to do a little pruning of the branches, in order for the tree to be healthy again. A number of things can be the reason why you have hypothyroidism. It could be a wide range of things from celiac disease, Hashimoto’s, leaky gut, autoimmune disease disorder, nutrient deficiency’s, adrenal fatigue, exposure to chemicals, gluten or other food allergies, and hormonal imbalance. It starts with the foods we eat to the chemicals in the environment, your thyroid can be influenced by many different circumstances.

Most of your “conditions” and labels are a lack of the proper nutrition and/or vitamins and minerals. Why not do a little research and find what is causing your disorder? Look up what nutritional steps you need to start taking. What environmental things have an effect on your disorder and start avoiding that.  Why not give you body a fighting chance to heal the issue at hand with herbs, specific vitamins & other natural supplements.  In each stage of  our lives our bodies change and we must learn to adapt and adjust what it needs. Trust me when I say, there certainly isn’t a substitute for figuring out the real underlying reason for your “condition”.  I am not saying try this solely on your on I would  recommend that you get qualified practitioner that will be able to order the appropriate tests for you, and also help you interpret them. 5. Relieve Your Stress

Many of us find ourselves in this cycle of so much responsibility that at times it seems impossible to manage. We are over worked and the chronic stress is breaking us down. Chronis stress keeps our cortisol levels elevated. If our cortisol levels are staying elevated, it begins to interfere with many other area’s of our body which are the immune system, digestion, sleep, and even the ability to produce other essential hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and YES you named it last but not least our THYROID which can cause an autoimmune reaction. Do you see the cycle?

We must try to begin to tackle our stress and start to manage it.
Stress not only effects your immune system but by revving up your immune system, it begins to produces a wave of inflammation.

Let’s face it your immune system needs a long vacation from all the stress you’ve put it through. Just enough for a fighting chance to get back on track.

Take a walk, read a book, take a relaxing spsom salt bath, start a yoga class, meditate, walk your dog. The key is to figure out what works for you and relaxes you.

I want to arm you with tools that you need to help you start managing your condition.

You have the power to make a difference in your life. You’ve always had the power. No one can force you to become more aware of what you put on your body and what you put in your body. What you eat is just as important as what you put on your body. Adjusting your life, reading labels and catering to your specific health needs isn’t easy but it will benefit you in the long run. This is one of the smartest decisions that you can make. Not only will you start to look and feel better but think of the medical cost that you could be saving your future self.

You have to start addressing what the root cause is of your hypothyroidism. Would you take Motrin if you got a rock stuck in your shoe? Hypothyroidism does has a root issue. The Real Story behind Hypothyroidism

Fact: Every Cell in your body responds to your thyroid hormones. These hormones have a direct impact on every major system in your body.

Hypothyroidism is a consequence of actions taken. It is a combination of sequences that you allowed to take  place to get  you to this point in  your life.  Yes, I am pointing the finger at you. I am pointing the finger at myself. I am so busy of “not being aware” and ” grabbing what is easy” that I’ve allowed this to happen. There is this big lie that we all got stuck in.   Listen to me when I say  there’s a major disconnect between what YOU believe to be healthy foods and what research tells us is healthy. In fact, many of the health foods today that people go out of their way to eat daily are extremely thyroid suppressive.

As diseases go, you would think that it would be a cinch to diagnose and pretty straightforward to treat. Each of us are unique individuals with different sensitivities. None of  has the same exact routine as far as what foods we eat, what chemicals we are exposed to and what medications we take but yet we all are similar when it comes to our thyroids not working properly.

First, please give me a moment to explain how the thyroid works.

Hypothyroidism means your thyroid is not making enough thyroid hormone. Your thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland in the front of your throat. It makes the hormones that control the way your body uses energy. Basically, our thyroid hormone tells all the cells in our bodies how busy they should be.

Most doctors will prescribe you a synthetic version of thyroid hormone called Synthroid (levothyroxine). First introduced in 1959, Synthroid is the third most frequently prescribed drugs in the United States. For the sixty years prior to Synthroid, the standard treatment was a desiccated (dried) concentrate of pig thyroid, which remains popular today, although not nearly as popular as its successor per  Robert Rountree, M.D., who is a physician in private practice and an Herb Research Foundation advisory board member.

How were you diagnosed? Did your doctor just perform a simple TSH test and it showed that you had an elevated presence of  thyroid stimulating hormone in your blood?

TSH is made in the pituitary, a small gland near the center of the brain. When the thyroid gland doesn’t make enough T4, the pituitary increases its production of TSH in an attempt to make the gland work harder. In other words, thyroid hormone production is regulated by a simple negative feedback loop. When a diseased gland fails to make enough T4, the quick and easy solution is to replace it with a synthetic version. Per Robert Rountree, M.D., who is a physician in private practice and an Herb Research Foundation advisory board member.

Hold on. Don’t be so quick to start taking that synthetic version of T4 only medication. Synthetics like thyroxine will eventually destroy the thyroid where you will have to be on some form of thyroid medication for the rest of your life. Also, everything that glitters isn’t gold. There isn’t a one size fits all solution to hypothyroidism. This is why you have to work with your doctor. Requests a full thyroid panel which should at least include these 6 key thyroid labs that are listed below.  Some of us, like I need T3 along with our T4 medication because our T4 isn’t converting into a must needed hormone called T3. This is why most people have partial improvements. Also, the conversion to T3 is affected by nutritional deficiencies such as low selenium, inadequate omega-3 fatty acids, low zinc, chemicals from the environment, or by stress. is your head spinning yet with all this information!

A full thyroid panel for hypothyroidism should at least include these 6 key thyroid lab tests:

TSH

Free T4

Free T3

Reverse T3

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies

Thyroglobulin Antibodies

Environmental chemicals and toxins, pesticides, BPA, thyroid endocrine disruptors, iodine imbalance, other medications, fluoride, overuse of soy products, cigarette smoking, and gluten intolerance. Commercially available insecticides and fungicides have also been involved. Even dental x-rays have been linked to an increased risk of thyroid disorders.

As consumers we put our trust in the research and development of scientific studies, The FDA and  The CDC. Drug store chains have quota’s to meet and even some of our Doctors get yearly bonus’s. Little do we do that behind closed doors corporations often pay scientists and these companies to  support their product for profit.  Some Politicians seem to have a revolving door between the private and public sector.  The synthetic chemicals we face everyday that is in our food, our water, and  the air that we breathe .

Every Cell in your body responds to the foods you eat, the products you put on your body to the house hold chemicals that you purchase for your home. All of these things have a direct impact on your hormones and in return your hormones have a direct impact on every major system in your body. Not to mention that our body is lacking certain nutrients that heavily influence the function of every cell in our body. The foods that we consume, oh, the foods we consume.

I haven’t used store bought toothpaste in years. I didn’t give up brushing my teeth although sometimes I would like to create my very own six foot “personal space bubble.” My teeth are beautifully white and my breath is always fresh. After being diagnosed with hypothyroidism, I started researching and was amazed at the things we willingly without even thinking put in or on our bodies that are very harmful to us. I started to take a closer look at all the labels of EVERYTHING and  decided that I needed to divorce my store bought toothpaste.

Most of us just focus on diet in an effort to achieve overall better health, along with proper supplements and working out. Oral health is connected with the rest of the body and it’s easy to forget where the first step of digestion occurs: Yes, in the mouth!

Why would you continue to use toothpastes that include sodium lauryl phosphate, triclosan, glycerin, fluoride, and other potentially harmful chemicals? Just look at the warning labels on a standard tube of toothpaste!

Did you know that your teeth are living and spongy. The foods we eat, the commercial toothpastes, medications and chemicals from drinks all can suck out the minerals from the teeth causing weakened enamel  and leaving us more susceptible to decay and breakdown. I was on a new mission to keep my teeth healthy by using the absolute necessary  and needed trace minerals to maintain the upmost dental health plus find a solution that wasn’t abrasive,  while gently polishing them , and detoxifies while it refreshes. Is there such a thing? I did know that my long history with Mr. Store bought toothpaste were over. Did  you know that a tooth powder could whiten your teeth, remove plaque, and not contain any harmful chemicals or questionable additives?

Sorry, Mr. Toothpaste. I thought we were great together but actually your sucking the life out of me. So, It’s not me. It’s you, and here’s why:

Did you know that fluoride was Once Prescribed as an Anti-Thyroid Drug?   Up through the 1950s, doctors in Europe and South America prescribed fluoride to reduce thyroid function in patients with over-active thyroids (hyperthyroidism). (Merck Index 1968).   If you haven’t already, you should invest in a water filtration system to rid your tap water of fluoride. Do we really know how safe tap water is? Look at the recent events in Flint Michigan! Can you really trust the water companies? Although fluoride concentrations in tap water are relatively low and are considered “safe” for human consumption, it is not. Fluoride has long-term neurological and hormonal affects.  Fluoride is not an essential nutrient.  It is also that chemical that is commonly found in most toothpaste brands.  There is clear evidence that, when ingested at high doses, fluoride causes neurotoxicity. Fluoride also is understood to interfere with the absorption of iodine, possibly leading to an iodine deficiency and ultimately hypothyroidism.  To benefit your health, use fluoride free tooth or make your own tooth paste. Get a good water filtration system and purchase a filter for your shower head. We use a British Berkefeld.

Store bought toothpaste also have other ingredient’s in it like:

Glycerin is used in almost all toothpastes because it helps create a pasty texture and prevents it from drying out. Although it’s non-toxic  it coats the teeth just enough to that prevents normal tooth remineralization.  Remineralization is a whole-body process and in order for it to happen, the body must have adequate levels of certain nutrients, especially fat soluble vitamins and certain minerals. If you want to stop and reverse Tooth Decay you must add minerals in your diet, add plenty of fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K), and your body must be able to absorb vital nutrients. You certainly can’t do this by having a coat on your teeth that will prevent absorption.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is a foaming agent and detergent that is commonly used in toothpaste, shampoo, and other products such as degreaser for  car engines.  SLS is an estrogen mimicker. It also increases gum inflammation and mouth ulcers. According  to a study conducted the Department of Oral Surgery & Oral Medicine in Oslo, Norway, individuals who used a toothpaste containing SLS suffered from more ulcers (canker sores) than those who used an SLS-free toothpaste.

Sweeteners: Sorbitol, sodium saccharin and other artificial sweeteners are often used in toothpaste to improve taste, even though there is no evidence that these sweeteners are beneficial (or even safe) for use in the mouth. Xylitol has shown some positive benefits for oral health in some studies, but it remains a controversial ingredient in toothpaste.

Triclosan: A chemical used in antibacterial soaps and products. Triclosan was recently found to affect proper heart function in a study at University of California Davis and the FDA is currently re-evaluating it for safety in human use.

Let’s not forget to mention that many toothpastes also contain artificial colors/dyes or synthetic flavors. I must admit there are several good natural toothpastes out there and I have tried some of them not all but with my tight budget I will make them for pennies on the dollar. My favorite way to brush my teeth is by using tooth powder. Yes, you read this right. Tooth Powder.  Here is my recipe that I use. Feel free to  adjust the ingredient’s based on your own needs. If you have sensitive teeth you might want to skip the baking soda and salt until you can get use to it.

Homemade Tooth Powder Recipe

Ingredients

Directions

Using a stainless steel or plastic spoon, mix all ingredients in a clean glass jar. To use, add a little to a wet toothbrush and brush as normal.

Bentonite Clay

Bentonite clay is a gentle cleanser that is rich in minerals which support tooth remineralization. It’s detoxifiying properties help freshen breath and fight gum disease, while it’s adsorptive properties help remove stains from teeth.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is a mild abrasive tooth polish that helps mechanically remove stains while other ingredients such as clay and activated charcoal draw them out. It also helps freshen breath.

Sea Salt

Unrefined sea salts such as this one  contain 60+ trace minerals that aid in tooth remineralization. Salt is also highly antiseptic, which helps keep bacteria in check.

Herb & Spices

Spices and herbs such as clove powder, ground cinnamon, and ground mint add flavoring, but they also have astringent properties that support gum health.

Activated Charcoal

Activated carbon – is made by processing charcoal with oxygen and either calcium chloride or zinc chloride. It was used medicinally by both Hippocrates and the ancient Egyptians, and it is still the poison remedy of choice in modern day emergency rooms. Why? Because it’s highly adsorptive, which in plain English means it attracts substances to its surface like a magnet. Like absorptive substances which work like a sponge, adsorptive materials bind with certain compounds and prevent our bodies from using them.

If your not so hip on using powdered tooth then here are some more all natural recipes.

This is a must read powerful book. The Fluoride Deception documents a powerful connection between big corporations, the U.S. military, and the historic reassurances of fluoride safety provided by the nation’s public health establishment. The Fluoride Deception reads like a thriller, but one supported by two hundred pages of source notes, years of investigative reporting, scores of scientist interviews, and archival research in places such as the newly opened files of the Manhattan Project and the Atomic Energy Commission. The book is nothing less than an exhumation of one of the great secret narratives of the industrial era: how a grim workplace poison and the most damaging environmental pollutant of the cold war was added to our drinking water and toothpaste.

FACT: The number of people suffering from hypothyroidism continues to rise each year. Levothyroxine is the 4th highest selling drug in the U.S.

It seems the current medical industry has  been abducted by the pharmaceutical industry. In our society we have become so blinded by the Big Pharma propaganda. Once you are labeled with a disease or a condition most of the  medications prescribed have horrible side effects and can lead to other issues but in reality these medications only mask the real issue at hand.

“Our prescription drugs are the third leading cause of death after heart disease and cancer. Our drugs kill around 200,000 people in America every year, and half of these people die while they do what their doctors told them—so they die because of the side-effects,” said Dr. Gotzsche in his recent interview. “The other half die because of errors—and it’s often the doctors that make the errors because any drug may come with 20, 30 or 40 warnings, contraindications, precautions…and then the patients die.”

NSAIDs as an example of only one group of medications, are fatally toxic to thousands of people each year by damaging joints, lungs, kidneys, eyes, hearts, and intestines and they are covered by insurance companies.

This should come to you as no surprise but some  physicians actually receive compensation from the drug industry aka “Big Pharma”. (Choudhry, JAMA 2002; 287: 612-617). Also, our part of the government that is in charge of approving drugs called the FDA has advisers with financial ties  (and is heavily lobbied by) the very drug industry that is seeking its approval. And as the New England Journal of Medicine and Journal of the American Medical Association warm, even the hired clinical investigators for new drugs may have their price. ‘  Did you know that 70 percent of Americans  are taking prescription drugs?

Even some of our most prestigious journals publish research based on falsified studies, according to Charles Seife, a journalism professor whose class spent a semester trying to figure out why the data doesn’t get corrected once research fraud comes to light.  “As a result,” Seife writes, “Nobody ever finds out which data is bogus, which experiments are tainted, and which drugs might be on the market under false pretenses.”. Is Big Pharma America’s New Mafia?

Light Bulb Moment: Why can’t we cure what ails us without pharmaceuticals?

Now, if you read anything in this blog make sure you hear me when I say, ” Don’t stop taking your medications”. You need to work with a doctor ,be monitored and follow their instructions. Your body might need those prescriptions and if you suddenly stop taking them, it might kill you. Therefore, you need to closely work with a Certified Naturopath Doctor in your area.

Throughout history medical science has sometimes been proven to not be that true in their “research” . These words like case studies, credible scientific evidence, scientifically tested,  scientific experiments and scientifically proven facts are all merely “theories” until they are proven wrong.

  • · Bloodletting was once proven to cure most illnesses. Now it is considered totally ineffective.
  • · Margarine was considered much healthier than butter. Now research suggests that the exact opposite is true.
  • · Eggs were considered very bad because of high cholesterol. Now research suggests that they are not bad at all, and they are actually healthy for the body.
  • · Chocolate and oily foods were touted to be a cause of acne. Now research suggest s that they do not contribute in any way to acne.
  • · Medical doctors touted that baby formula was much better than breast milk for children. Now the exact opposite is shown to be true.
  • · Milk was recommended for coating the stomach and alleviating stomach ulcers. Now it is discouraged and has been found to aggravate ulcers.
  • · Medical science stat ed that diet had absolutely no effect on disease or illness. Now we are told t hat diet has a huge effect on the prevention and cause of disease.
  • · Medical science once had scientific evidence that the removing of tonsils and appendix improved health and should be done to virtually everyone. Now the medical community has reversed that theory.
  • · Children with asthma were told to stay in enclosed pool areas because the humidity was good for their asthmatic condition. Now research suggests that the chlorine in the air from the pools actually aggravates and makes the asthma worse.
  • · The most obvious example of all is the fact that there are thousands of drugs that have been approved by the FDA because they were scientifically proven to cure or prevent disease, in addition to having been touted as safe. Then, years later, they have been taken off the market because they had been newly proven to either not cure or prevent those diseases as
  • originally thought, or those drugs were found to have such terribly adverse side effects that they are simply too dangerous for people to use.

16 Quotes On Poisons… I mean those magic Drugs our medical quacks prescribe.

1. “The cause of most disease is in the poisonous drugs physicians superstitiously give in order to effect a cure.” Charles E. Page, M.D.
2. “The greatest part of all chronic disease is created by the suppression of acute disease by drug poisoning.” Henry Lindlahr, M.D.
3. “Every educated physician knows that most diseases are not appreciably helped by medicine.” Richard C. Cabot, M.D. (Mass. Gen.Hospital)
4. “Medicines are of subordinate importance because of their very nature they can only work symptomatically.” Hans Kusche, M.D.
5. “If all the medicine in the world were thrown into the sea, it would be bad for the fish and good for humanity” O.W. Holmes, (Prof. of Med. Harvard University)
6. “Drug medications consists in employing, as remedies for disease, those things which produce disease in well persons. Its materia medica is simply a lot of drugs or chemicals or dye-stuffs in a word poisons. All are incompatible with vital matter; all produce disease when brought in contact in any manner with the living; all are poisons.” R.T. TraIl, M.D., in a two and one half hour lecture to members of congress and the medical profession, delivered at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.
7. “Drugs never cure disease. They merely hush the voice of nature’s protest, and pull down the danger signals she erects along the pathway of transgression. Any poison taken into the system has to be reckoned with later on even though it palliates present symptoms. Pain may disappear, but the patient is left in a worse condition, though unconscious of it at the time.” Daniel. H. Kress, M.D.
8. “Every drug increases and complicates the patients condition.” Robert Henderson, M.D.
9. “Medicine is only palliative, for back of disease lies the cause, and this cause no drug can reach.” Wier Mitchel, M.D.
10. “The person who takes medicine must recover twice, once from the disease and once from the medicine.” William Osler, M.D.
11. “Medical practice has neither philosophy nor common sense to recommend it. In sickness the body is already loaded with impurities. By taking drug – medicines more impurities are added, thereby the case is further embarrassed and harder to cure.” Elmer Lee, M.D., Past Vice President, Academy of Medicine.
12. “Our figures show approximately four and one half million hospital admissions annually due to the adverse reactions to drugs. Further, the average hospital patient has as much as thirty percent chance, depending how long he is in, of doubling his stay due to adverse drug reactions.” Milton Silverman, M.D. (Professor of Pharmacology, University of California)
13. “Why would a patient swallow a poison because he is ill, or take that which would make a well man sick.” L.F. Kebler, M.D.
14. “What hope is there for medical science to ever become a true science when the entire structure of medical knowledge is built around the idea that there is an entity called disease which can be expelled when the right drug is found?” John H. Tilden, M.D.
15. “The necessity of teaching mankind not to take drugs and medicines, is a duty incumbent upon all who know their uncertainty and injurious effects; and the time is not far distant when the drug system will be abandoned.” Charles Armbruster, M. D.
16. “We are prone to thinking of drug abuse in terms of the male population and illicit drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and marijuana. It may surprise you to learn that a greater problem exists with millions of women dependent on legal prescription drugs.” Robert Mendelsohn, M.D

Are you starting to see my point?

The root cause of nearly all diseases can be linked to  an overload of toxins and chemicals accumulating inside your body.  Most people ignore the toxic overload that is taking a toll on their bodies. Western medicine teaches us that almost all illnesses are caused by germs or genetics. So the money making solution is to slap a name on it. Label each disease (over 10,000 of them) and then have us believe that each one can be remedied by surgery or drugs.

Think about it  this– fish can’t live in toxic water, no matter how fancy the food is that you’re feeding them.

Neither can our bodies thrive if they are toxic.

5 Things you need to working on.

#1: Immune System

#2: Digestive System

#3: Inflammation

#4:  Stress

#5:  Start Being Aware

……

” I don’t know where to start.”

I know, there is so much information overload that most people are confused as to where to start.  You can start by taking ownership of your health. I wanted you to understand or get a idea of how everything has a part to play in your body. I am on a  path to help you, lead you and inform you through this terrible illness. Being diagnosed with hypothyroidism isn’t just here take this pill and it will fix your issues. Hypothyroidism has a root cause. Once you start addressing the root of your problems then your body can start healing itself. Your body is an awesome design but there is a complex balance between everything. It’s a domino affect. If you have something in your body that is overworked  it will cause a major shift in your body. Don’t worry the good news is it can be healed.

3 Primary Factors Leading to Underactive Thyroid

1.Your Diet- avoid Gluten, Soy and start adding foods rich in iodine.

 2.Stress-

Stress is one of the worst thyroid offenders, as your thyroid function is intimately tied to your adrenal function, which in turn is intimately affected by how you handle stress.

Many of us are under chronic stress, which results in increased adrenalin and cortisol levels, and elevated cortisol has a negative impact on thyroid function. Thyroid hormone levels drop during stress, while you actually need more thyroid hormones during stressful times.

When stress becomes chronic, the flood of stress chemicals (adrenalin and cortisol) produced by your adrenal glands interferes with thyroid hormones and can contribute to obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, unstable blood sugar, and more. A prolonged stress response can lead to adrenal exhaustion (also known as adrenal fatigue), which is often found alongside thyroid disease

3.Environmental Chemicals-Your thyroid hormones are very vulnerable to chemicals in the environment.

Honestly, What it’s Really Like To Have Hypothyroidism?

There no real way to sugar coat having hypothyroidism, I like to call it  “ The Invisible Disease”. Many people with hypothyroidism  often feel as if  they’ve  lost control over their own bodies and mental health. Some people are blessed to only have a few symptoms and others seem as if every area of their functioning life has been affected by this disorder.  A lack of energy, anxiety, depression, weight gain, scary heart palpitations, brain fog, our sleeping cycles are disrupted, thin eye brows,  body temperature, appetite, fertility, hair loss, constipation, increased or decreased blood pressure,  numbness in your finger tips, an emotional roller coaster, aches and pains that you can’t explain are only a few things associated with having hypothyroidism. The simplest tasks can seem like the hardest. Many of us don’t really understand the whole life impact of our condition, because the wide ranging  symptoms of hypothyroidism are often brushed off as being part of everyday life, stress or getting older.

After being diagnosis you were probably relieved and excited to finally have an answer, some kind of answer,  to what have been going on with your body but soon you were disappointed again only to find out that  the thyroid medications that you thought was going bring you back to yourself only fixed a few of your symptoms and your still having to deal with a dozen more remaining issues. Your are tired of hearing, its all in your head too. You want to scream to the world and let everyone know that your quality of life has drastically been affected and there has to be answers.

Somewhere, Someone, Anyone at this point, hello? Help me , I feel like I am drowning, slowly dying and the world just keeps turning.  Why isn’t anyone listening to me?

You see, the main problem with hypothyroidism is a very tricky condition and complicated disorder to manage. There is no one size fits all program when you are dealing with hypothyroidism.

Your quality of life is affected.

Have you ever stopped to think what the underlying reason to why you hypothyroidism?

Many different factions can play a role in your thyroid health. We do know that hypothyroidism is a chronic condition of an under-active thyroid in which it affects millions of Americans.  Environmental chemicals and toxins , pesticides, BPA, thyroid endocrine disruptors, iodine imbalance, other medications, fluoride, overuse of soy products, cigarette smoking and gluten intolerance.  A nonprofit group called Beyond Pesticides warns us that 60% of pesticides used today have been shown to affect the thyroids glands production of T3 and T4 hormones. All these commercially available insecticides and fungicides are also just as guilty.

We need a our thyroid in order to live and feel good.  Our thyroid is our master gland of metabolism and energy.  Basically, our thyroid hormone tells all the cells in our bodies how busy they should be. Your cells are not getting enough oxygen and energy that is required for every singly body function to work properly. It impacts our entire body from our head to our feet.

One-thing many  thyroid patients have in common is having to deal with is a world that can’t apprehend our struggles, fails to notice the importance, downplays it at times and sometimes we are even looked down upon for our condition.

Hypothyroidism isn’t “easy to diagnose”e nor is it “easy to treat”.  It’s a shame that a  vast majority of medical professionals are poorly trained in the treatment of hypothyroidism. It’s really is a uncharted territory.

(A tale of caution: Your doctor is trying to provide the best treatment for you within his or her

Knowledge. But doctors are not taught about nutrition in medical school – only about disease. Most doctors do not receive but a few hours training on nutrition during their four years of medical school. The pharmaceutical industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. It provides much of the funding for research in medical schools and nearly all of the advertising in medical journals. It’s the old GOLDEN RULE: he who has the gold – rules! So doctors learn about medication and disease.)

I wish somebody had given me a step-by-step road-map back when I was first diagnosed with hypothyroidism. The solutions in my books have helped so many people. I’ve done my best to pull from all their expertise, as well as my own knowledge and clinical experience. I want to make it easy for you to find the answers quickly, all in the one place, because I’m all too familiar with that awful side effects of hypothyroidism. I certainly don’t want you to have to spend years finding solutions, like I did. I also what you to understand that there isn’t an  easy “one pill” solution, but the “one pill” approach that our current medical system is using is NOT WORKING because the underlying cause for hypothyroidism is not being addressed.

My new purpose is to empower people to embrace who they are, to add value to their life, to inspire them and to connect with those who are struggling with hypothyroidism.  You need to realize that you have to invest in your health. You are worth investing money into yourself and take charge of your health. Will it “hurt” a little? Ha, you bet, but it will change your life.

Look into getting a  Knowledgeable Health Practitioner:

The main reason why you should work with a knowledgeable health practitioner is its  patient-centered medical healing at its best. Unfortunately  when it comes to hypothyroidism there isn’t a one size fits all approach to dealing with it and often times you are left still searching for the answers to your symptoms when all you want is your zest for life back. A knowledgeable health practitioner will care for you as a individual as they won’t look at your body as a whole they will treat each individual body symptom, imbalance and dysfunction. They certainly move from the confusion of the “one size fits all treatment” approach that we know isn’t working to the one that will cater to what you body needs.  Let’s not forget that each of us are a unique case and unless you get a proper thorough clinical evaluation, trying to figure what medical advise you need online is dubious at best.

Hypothyroidism Alternatives Guide To Collagen, Protein and Healthy Bones

BENEFITSOFCOLLOGEN

The latest craze seems to be collagen. As we age, our ability to produce collagen diminishes.  The beauty industry has hyped up collagen so much that I really think they want us to believe that is is the next best thing to the fountain of youth. You’ve probably  heard about how collagen keeps our skin elastic and plump looking. Collagen is one of the primary structural elements of skin, so when our bodies ability to produce collagen diminishes over age its only ideal to help it when it cant create enough on its own.

I find collagen pretty gross. YUCK! I do a ton of research about products like vitamins and nutritional supplements trying to be a wise health consumer. I find it very shocking that many  supplements contain several types of fillers + ‘chemically’ or GM derived ingredients and some have been  known to be actually dangerously ‘unhealthy’ for long term consumption.

Although collagen supplements or treatments may increase your bodies collagen production and may keep your skin looking fresh and youthful. There’s one little problem: indigestible collagen is being touted as a miracle cure for skin and signs of aging, without much evidence to back up these claims. Therefore , consuming the dried up bones from dead animals doesn’t necessarily mean collagen will increase in your skin.

FACECOLLOGEN

There are other ways, that you can boost your collagen production – and they don’t involve boiled animal parts.

I prefer to get COLLAGEN made from fish the brand I use is a Marine based Collagen and it is sourced from the scales of wild-caught, non-GMO Red Snapper , wild-caught in the Pacific Ocean near Hawaii using sustainable harvesting instead of being sourced from the hides of pasture-raised, grass-fed bovine.

Other nutrients that support collagen formation include:

  • + Vitamin C: found in oranges, strawberries, peppers, and broccoli
  • + Copper: mostly found in nuts
  • + Vitamin A: found in plant foods as beta-carotene
  • + Proline: found in egg whites, cheese, soy, and cabbage
  • + Anthocyanidins: found in blackberries, blueberries, cherries and raspberries

Another  smart way to support collagen production is to eat fruits and vegetables that contain vitamin C. It’s vital in the collagen production process.

  • Citrus fruits: lemons and oranges both contain about 53 mg per 100 grams
  • Broccoli: 89.2 mg per 100 grams( limit your broccoli with hypothyroidism. cooker 2x servings per week)
  • Papaya: 60.9 mg per 100 grams
  • Kiwi fruit: 92.7 mg per 100 grams
  • Kale: 80 mg per cup ( limit your kale with hypothyroidism. cooker 2x servings per week)
  • Red peppers: 95 mg per half cup

The RDA for vitamin C is 90 mg/day for men and 75 mg/day for women, so eating any of the above foods will set you on the right track.

You can also start taking  Garden of Life my kind Organic Plant Calcium – Vegan Whole Food Supplement with D3 and K2, Gluten Free.

  • CALCIUM MAGNESIUM: The mykind calcium magnesium formula includes Vegan D3 from lichen and Vitamin K2 MK7 for bone health and reduced osteoporosis risk
  • PLANT-BASED: 800mg of Plant-Sourced Calcium from Organic Algae
  • EASILY TO DIGEST: Our small easy to swallow tablets of plant sourced calcium magnesium are easy to digest
  • REAL FOOD VITAMIN: Our organic calcium vitamin is made from real food – over 20 fruits and vegetables
  • ORGANIC VITAMIN: Finally, a plant calcium that is certified USDA Organic, Non-GMO Verified, Gluten Free with No Synthetic Binders or Fillers

Not only has this wonderful product to curved my appetite,  I can definitely see a difference in my energy levels throughout the day. The Slim & Sassy Metabolic Blend is one of those that does work for me. It works as a mild appetite suppressant  and trust me I need that. I started out with one drop in my 24 oz. glass water bottle every-time I filled it and I also have 2 decaffeinated green tea bags in the water bottle.  Although it is recommended that you put four drops in 4 oz. water. I wanted to get my body use to it and adjusted therefore I started off  with it very diluted.  I love it in my water bottle, and I just sip on it all day. Makes me feel so refreshed and I want to exercise! I just love how the citrus undertone tingles my lips a bit as I sip on it.  The scent is very invigorating and its all natural nothing artificial.

I also like to apply this to my problem areas (thighs, upper arms, waist, lower stomach, & buttocks) in the morning and at night, before bed and let me add that since I’ve been   I applying it to my problem area’s the Mosquito’s aren’t bothering me much anymore and it has really helped with  my seasonal allergies.

I Hope You Like it old School Cause I ain’t Playing With this Hypothyroidism No More.

12968093_10209143914333752_7503512854962499329_oThis hypothyroidism is no joke. People play with it all the time. But why? It completely fucks with your life. Sorry to be so blunt but it does. Why is that?

See we have to understand is when  your thyroid isn’t working properly it can wreck havoc on your life. Your thyroid is responsible for so many things. It regulates  your metabolism, makes energy, adjusts your mood, helps you sleep, even helps aid in good digestion but your see this is where you come into play. Like anything else in life you get back what you give. Start today following my tips and you will start healing your thyroid naturally.

Your body is an awesome design but there is a complex balance between everything. It’s like a domino. One thing in your  body that is overworked   can cause a major shift in how things operate. Sometimes we have to do a little pruning of the branches, in order for the tree to be healthy again. There is not one size fits all.

I know, there is a information overload and most people are confused as to where to start.

One of the biggest issues is that many patients are being under treated or under dosed.

Not all medications are created equal. Trust and believe that! Also, medications can interact with other medications or interfere with how your body works.  Sort of like help one thing but hinder another.

So much of our lives revolve around food. Its a staple everywhere from ads on social media to mouth watering  commercials  on television. I am a major foodie to the point where all of my books are about food! I blog about food all the time. Food is certainly a social lubricant at meetings, family gatherings,  award dinners, and basically every function you must attend but loathe with every being of your fiber. Food understands our emotions in ways no words will never. It certainly makes it easier to bear and a lot less painful with the understanding  that something tasty might be at that gathering that you are dragging yourself to attend.   It’s all fun and games until we step on that scale , we can’t button our pants or our skin starts to break out with acne like we are hormonal teenagers . What we eat should be fun, healthy, healing, sometimes funky and always fresh.

A least less talked about area that people seem to ignore is starting to become more widely recognized. It’s food sensitivities. Most of the time these sensitivities seem to be more of a annoyance and not an immediate and/or severe allergic reaction. Therefore more people with food sensitivities are willing to annoy it, never look into their symptom’s without realizing that it can actually be disastrous to their health. More doctors, mainstream media journals and clinical practices are starting to realize how if they can start to identify and remove the  food sensitivities it can and will improve the  overall health and well-being of a individual. Thus, leading to a much better quality of life.

A food sensitivity has a  delayed allergic reaction. Food sensitivities trigger the delayed antibody response after being consumed.  For example, there are four different antibodies involved in a delayed reaction. IgG, IgA, IgM, and IgD — each of which can have a different and significant effect on our immune system.

Sometimes the delayed response can take up to three weeks before symptoms may appear. This makes it very hard to pin point which food, pollen, or substance is the cause of your symptoms! Some of the more common health concerns that can be triggered by a food sensitivity are:

  • Digestive disorders (gas, bloating, cramping, diarrhea, nausea)
  • Migraines
  • Weight gain
  • Mood/Attention disorder (anxiety, depression, irritability, hyperactivity, lack of concentration)
  • Joint pain/muscle stiffness
  • Skin conditions (itching, redness, swelling, eczema, rashes)
  • Lung conditions (Asthma, Bronchitis)
  • Loss of memory
  • Fatigue
  • General malaise

Americans are in such a pathetic health crisis. We have the abundance of everything at our finger tips but yet we 1 in 3 people are on some sort of medication. It doesn’t matter if it’s Prescribed or over the counter. Meanwhile, there are people around the world who are in better health than the average American and they don’t have to be on some sort of medication but yet they seem to be in  their correct body mass index. New York Times best-selling author and Blue Zones Founder  Dan Buettner has written a book called: The Blue Zone Solution in his book he speaks about how people in these blue zones are living to be over 100 years old.  We are in such a state of denial. Every Cell in your body responds to the foods you consume.  These foods have a direct impact on your hormones and in return your hormones have a direct impact on every major system in your body. So many of us have these crazy phantom-like health problems.  Our body is lacking certain nutrients that heavily influence the function of every cell in our body while certain foods can inhibit your body’s ability to absorb the replacement nutrients needed.

Look at it another way. When is the last time that you seen a  Azodicarbonamide grazing in a field or  Sodium benzoate being grown in a garden?

  • Artificial Sweeteners. …
  • High Fructose Corn Syrup. …
  • Monosodium Glutamate (MSG / E621) …
  • Trans Fat. …
  • Common Food Dyes. …
  • Sodium Sulfite (E221) …
  • Sodium Nitrate/Sodium Nitrite. …
  • BHA And BHT (E320)

Many different underlying reasons can play a role. We do know that hypothyroidism is a chronic condition of an underactive thyroid and affects millions of Americans.

Hypothyroidism means what exactly?

Hypothyroidism means your thyroid is not making enough thyroid hormone. Your thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland in the front of your throat. It makes the hormones that control the way your body uses energy. Basically, our thyroid hormone tells all the cells in our bodies how busy they should be. Our bodies will go into overdrive with too much thyroid hormone (hyperthyroidism) and our bodies slow down with too little thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism). The most common causes of hypothyroidism worldwide is dietary and environmental. The most common cause of hypothyroidism is dietary and environmental! What does that mean exactly? That means you need to be eat to cater to your thyroid and stop using all these harmful chemicals to clean your home with and put on your body! It’s not hard. Yes, a little adjustment will be needed but isn’t everything we do in life for the better of our health worth a little inconvenience until it becomes a habit?

“You must realize that the thyroid has a relationship with all the hormones. It’s a very complex balance and there is no straight forward treatment of just treating your thyroid alone. 1st you must make sure your adrenal glands are in total support. Adrenal fatigue is a very common amongst people with hypothyroidism.  Next you have to get your cortisol levels stabilized. Having hypothyroidism your cortisol levels are already above average. Next finding the right medication for you. Everyone is different it isn’t an easy one size fits all task.”

So this bullshit is up to you!

Start following my plan & listen to your body!!

3006_1163540167458_5209095_n

You have to start removing the thyroid suppressive foods that are in your diet and instead focus on the right foods that stimulate your thyroid to produce an abundant amount of thyroid hormone to keep your cells happy and healthy. When you eat foods full of thyroid suppressive toxins its just like throwing fuel on the fire. This will only continue to drain you of your energy, continue to make your symptoms worse, promote even more inflammation in  your body, contribute to a leaky gut and further damage your thyroid.

Listen to me when I say  there’s a major disconnect between what YOU believe to be healthy foods and what research tells us is healthy. In fact, many of the health foods today that people go out of their way to eat daily are extremely thyroid suppressive.

It seems that the  testing for thyroid is a dead end road at times  with the test appearing to be normal but you has all the symptoms. Get this, your blood work can look just fine but there is major resistance at the receptor site. Most practitioners are unfamiliar with natural treatments for the thyroid and the meds they give sometimes just don’t work. Some  doctors just don’t have a lot of experience with alternative treatments. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. This is where you come into play. You have to take control of  your health! Your gut’s ability to digest and absorb critical nutrients is very important for proper thyroid hormone health.

I am telling you to not fucking listen to what they are saying… Do your own research… learn how to read test results and become your own health advocate!! No body else will do it for you but you…

disclaimer:::::::::::::::: Bitches::::::::::::::::::: Listen::::::::::::::::  I am here to help & educate. I am not a medical doctor nor  your personal guru specialist. …. You’ve got to do this!

A full thyroid panel for hypothyroidism should at least include these 7 key thyroid lab tests:
TSH
Free T4
Free T3
Reverse T3
Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies
Thyroglobulin Antibodies
Reverse T3

How Is Hypothyroidism Diagnosed?

If you have symptoms of hypothyroidism, your doctor will order blood tests to check hormone levels. Lower-than-normal T4 levels usually mean you have hypothyroidism.
However, some people may have increased TSH levels while having normal T4 levels. This is called subclinical (mild) hypothyroidism. It is believed to be an early stage of hypothyroidism. If your test results or physical exam of the thyroid are abnormal, your doctor may order a thyroid ultrasound, or thyroid scan, to check for nodules or inflammation.

5 Reasons Armour Thyroid isn’t Helping you lose Weight

Image result for can't lose weight on armour

This article was completely written by Dr. Westin Childs. He nails everything and I hope it can help you. All I did was copy and paste it for you. Here is a link if you would like to sign up for his blogs.    Here is a link to the actual blog that I copied and pasted it from Excellent.Excellent. Excellent read for those on Armour Thyroid.

Are you taking Armour Thyroid and not losing weight?

Would it surprise you to know that MANY people are in the same position as you?

The truth is that Armour Thyroid CAN help with weight loss, but it is definitely NOT a magic weight loss pill.

Having said that…

There are several reasons why Armour Thyroid isn’t helping you lose weight and there are several things YOU can do to fix them.

Image result for can't lose weight on armour

Does Armour Thyroid Actually Help with Weight Loss?

Armour thyroid picture

The biggest and most important question of all:

Will Armour Thyroid actually help you lose weight?

Most people when they switch to armour thyroid except that their extra weight will magically start shedding off…

And about 90% of people who make the switch don’t see those results.

Why does this happen?

While Armour Thyroid is a great medication (that will probably help reduce your symptoms even if it doesn’t help you lose weight) it isn’t enough for weight loss by itself.

If weight loss were that simple, then Doctors would be prescribing low doses of Armour to every patient!

The truth is that your thyroid is probably only contributing to about 10-20 pounds of extra weight you may be carrying right now.

NDT vs levothyroxine
NDT causes more weight loss than levothyroxine

If you have more than that to lose there is a good chance your extra weight is from something else entirely.

Another hormone imbalance

Poor diet

Too much stress

You get the picture.

So let’s talk about the 5 main reasons that patients who make the switch to Armour Thyroid don’t lose weight and what you can do to FINALLY lose those extra pounds:

1. You Aren’t Being Dosed Correctly

One of the biggest issues is that many patients are being under treated or under dosed.

Armour thyroid contains a combination of T4 (the inactive thyroid hormone) and T3 (the active thyroid hormone).

One of the main reasons that patients feel BETTER on Armour Thyroid is because of the active T3 portion.

This portion is actually still quite small:

1 grain = 38mcg of T4 and 9mcg of T3

Armour thyroid conversion chart

The point is that whenever you give a patient T3 it is approximately 3.3 times more effective at dropping the TSH than T4 medication alone (Synthroid and Levothyroxine).

This means that when transitioning from T4 only medication to armour thyroid many patients are usually under treated!

It’s also important to note that many providers aren’t as comfortable dosing Armour Thyroid as they are levothyroxine and so they will intentionally under dose patients because they are concerned about side effects.

Transitioning from T4 only Medication to Armour Thyroid

If you transitioned from Levothyroxine (T4 only medication) then you should know how to properly convert your medication.

Most conversion charts will show that 100mcg of T4 = 1 grain of Armour thyroid.

In my experience 1 grain of Armour Thyroid is closer to 50mcg of T4.

Using this conversion you can see how most people end up under-treated.

They are previously on 100mcg of T4 medication and are subsequently switched to 1 grain of Armour and they feel no different, when in reality they have most likely just cut their thyroid dosing in half.

More accurate conversion looks like this:

  • 50 mcg of T4 = 1 grain of Armour
  • 100mcg of T4 = 2 grains of Armour
  • 150mcg of T4 = 3 grains of Armour
Thyroid Conversion chart - revised

But remember:

If you are transitioning from a T4 only medication do NOT start yourself off at the maximum dose of Armour.

If you dose your Armour too quickly you are likely to end up with side effects from the T3: Heart palpitations, Anxiety, Heat intolerance, etc.

Instead start off on a lower dose and titrate up SLOWLY every 10-14 days.

2. You Need More T3 Added to your Thyroid Hormone Replacement

While Armour does contain some T3, your body may actually need more.

Armour thyroid (and other forms of Natural Desiccated thyroid) contain fixed ratios of T4 to T3.

Meaning the amount of T3 in each grain of Armour is always the same.

Unfortunately some people may require higher amounts of T3 due to tissue level hypothyroidism or the euthyroid sick syndrome.

euthyroid sick syndrome

In both of these conditions patients may require higher doses of T3 to saturate cellular receptors and allow thyroid hormone to get into the cells.

How do you know if you are someone who needs more T3?

Patients who need more T3 usually fall into one or more of the following categories:

  • They have high levels of Reverse T3
  • They have Leptin Resistance
  • They have Diabetes, Prediabetes or Insulin Resistance
  • They have extremely low body temperatures
  • They have a personal history of bipolar disorder or a strong family history of mental health disorders
  • They have a personal history of Fibromyalgia or Chronic fatigue syndrome

If you fall into any of the categories above AND you aren’t losing weight on Armour thyroid then you should talk to your Doctor about adding T3 to your regimen.

Adding T3 to Armour Thyroid

One problem with armour thyroid (and NDT in general) is the static dosing in each individual grain of hormone.

Each grain gives you 38mcg of T4 and 9mcg of T3.

This is ok for some patients but doesn’t allow for altering individual dosing of the T4 and T3 if necessary.

Patients with high stress, high levels of inflammation, leptin resistance, insulin resistance, etc. will generally require more T3 relative to T4.

Supraphysiologic dosing of T3 not only helps to overcome these hormone imbalances.

In my experience (and if used safely) lowering T4 dosing and increasing T3 dosing provides improved weight loss and improved lipid metabolism.

This is also confirmed with studies which have shown that transitioning from T4 to T3 dosing (based off of pituitary and TSH testing) improves all of these markers.

T3 medication vs T4 medication

In many patients dropping armour thyroid total dosing and adding T3 can be sufficient to improve symptoms and provide improved weight loss by itself.

T3 can be added to armour thyroid with the following medications: Liothyronine, Cytomel or SR T3.

3. You are Suffering from Leptin Resistance

If you aren’t familiar with Leptin resistance or the hormone leptin please read this article.

As a quick primer:

Leptin is a hormone that is pumped out by your fat cells (yes they pump out hormones!).

As fat cells grow, leptin levels increase. As they increase they are supposed to tell your brain to increase metabolism and start burning off that extra fat you just gained.

When you have leptin resistance the exact opposite happens: your body thinks you’re starving so it decreases metabolism and increases appetite (even though you have plenty of fat).

definition of leptin resistance

If you have leptin resistance it doesn’t matter how little you eat, how much you exercise or what your dose of thyroid hormone is…

You simply won’t lose weight until it is treated.

And, to make matters worse – high levels of leptin actually decrease T4 to T3 conversion in the body.

How do you know if you have Leptin resistance?

Leptin levels can be tested easily in the serum and fasting leptin levels higher than 10-12 indicate leptin resistance.

Patients with leptin resistance generally require higher levels of T3 only medications to help reduce the T4 to reverse T3 conversion that occurs with this condition.

It’s important to note that leptin resistance is generally a late finding and indicates that heavy metabolic damage has occurred.

Leptin resistance is often accompanied by insulin resistance and thyroid resistance (all three conditions are caused by the same thing).

Patients with leptin resistance generally require aggressive treatment to reverse leptin levels to help with weight loss.

To see a case study example treatment plan please refer to this post.

You can find supplements to treat leptin resistance here.

I’ve outlined how to treat leptin resistance in this article.

4. You are Reacting to Inactive Ingredients in Armour Thyroid

Not all forms of Natural Desiccated thyroid are created equal.

While it’s true 1 grain of armour thyroid contains the same amount of active thyroid hormone (AKA active ingredients) as a grain of WP thyroid or Naturethroid – they differ in the inactive ingredients that they contain.

And it is the inactive ingredients that may cause non specific reactions in the body.

In addition these inactive ingredients may alter the breakdown and digestion of which then alters the absorption of thyroid hormone in the body.

It’s also possible that you may simply be reacting to the inactive ingredients and wrongly attributing your “negative” symptoms to thyroid hormone component.

Using the table below you can see that the NDT form of thyroid hormone with the least amount of ingredients is WP thyroid – though this doesn’t necessarily mean that it is the “best”.

Naturethroid comparison table

These changes in inactive ingredients help to explain why some patients react poorly to Armour thyroid with symptoms like headaches, worsening fatigue or rashes – only to find that these symptoms completely resolve upon switching to naturethroid.

Again it’s not the difference in the concentration of thyroid hormone in each individual medication but most likely a reflection of digestion and absorption.

The armour thyroid preparation

In line with that, Armour thyroid contains methylcellulose and dextrose.

These are the inactive ingredients in armour thyroid that may cause some patients to either do better on the medication or worse.

You can think about methylcellulose as a glue which holds on tight to the thyroid hormone component of the medication, and in order for absorption your body must break the grip.

Unfortunately many patients with hypothyroidism also have gastrointestinal issues including low stomach acid.

This may result in decreased absorption of thyroid hormone or a “delayed” release of the medication into the blood stream.

This exact process is what happens when patients take Sustained release T3.

The “slow release” comes from the fact that it is harder to digest and absorb in the body, but this also reduces the overall amount of hormone available in each dosage.

In general patients with GI related issues tend to do better on WP thyroid or tirosint which both have fewer inactive ingredients and absorption tends to be better.

  • Bottom line: If armour thyrod isn’t helping you (either with weight loss or you still remain symptomatic) you might consider switching to a different from of NDT like Naturethroid or WP thyroid.

5. Your Reverse T3 is too High

If you aren’t familiar with Reverse T3 please read this article.

To recap:

T4 = INACTIVE storage form of thyroid

T3 = ACTIVE thyroid hormone

Reverse T3 = INACTIVE thyroid metabolite that competes with T3 for cellular binding

Obviously you don’t  want high levels of Reverse T3 because it competes for binding with T3 which creates tissue level hypothyroidism or thyroid resistance.

The higher Reverse T3 generally the more hypothyroid you will feel (unless the Reverse T3 is compensatory due to supraphysiologic levels of free T3).

Because T4 has the ability to turn into T3 or Reverse T3 we need to concern ourselves with what causes the body to preferentially create more reverse T3.

Reasons your body may produce Reverse T3 from T4:

  • Thyroid medications containing T4 (Synthroid, Levothyroxine but also NDT like armour thyroid) – This acts as substrate and in the presence of inflammation or other hormone imbalances your body may produce Reverse T3 over T3
  • Inflammation – From conditions like SIBO, Hashimoto’s, Food allergies, nutrient deficiencies, medications, etc.
  • Leptin resistance
  • Insulin resistance
  • Obesity
  • LPS – Usually caused by increased intestinal permeability (SIBO, SIFO, SIBO, leaky gut, etc.)
  • Certain Medications: Anti-depressants, diabetic medications, anti seizure medications, blood pressure medications, Narcotics, etc. (Please don’t stop taking these medications if you are on them, but consider discussing options with your Doctor)

Two things should pop out to you after reading that list:

1) Thyroid medications containing can contribute to elevated reverse T3 levels

2) If you fall into one or more of the categories listed above AND you are taking T4 medication (including Armour thyroid, but especially T4 only medications like Synthroid or Levothyroxine) then your medication may be contributing to your inability to lose weight.

What happens when Reverse T3 levels are too high?

As Reverse T3 levels climb your cells will have more difficulty taking up active thyroid hormone.

This leads to a situation where you will have the symptoms of hypothyroidism but your lab tests may be “normal”.

Your temperature will drop, your metabolism will drop, your appetite will increase in an attempt to compensate for the low metabolism, etc.

All of these changes ultimately lead to weight gain.

The real question is what do you do about it?

How do you fix high Reverse T3 levels?

Because high levels of reverse T3 can be caused by different factors, the best way to treat it is to identify the cause in your body and attack that.

For instance:

If you have high levels of insulin – you need to lower them (use this as a guide)

If your leptin is too high – you need to lower it (use this as a guide)

If your T4 containing medication is too high you may need to decrease your T4 dose and/or increase your T3 dose.

Etc.

BUT addressing and fixing the cause of the high reverse T3 usually isn’t enough by itself.

For the most benefit this therapy should be coupled with a reduction in the total amount of T4 medication and an increase in the total amount of T3 medication you are taking.

This will allow your body to “flush” out the Reverse T3 and help improve your symptoms.

Wrapping it up

Armour Thyroid is a great medication and it CAN help you lose weight but it is not a magic weight loss pill.

At most it will help you lose 10-20 pounds. If you have hypothyroidism and are more than 20 pounds overweight there is a high chance your weight gain is due to some other hormone imbalance.

If you switched to Armour recently and haven’t lost ANY weight then make sure you have addressed these 5 areas: your dose, how much T3 you are taking in addition to Armour, your leptin levels, your allergies and sensitivities to inactive ingredients in medications and finally your reverse T3 level.

Remember:

You won’t be able to lose weight unless all 5 of those areas have been addressed and reversed (if necessary).

Now I want to hear from you:
